Adding on to your post about kids chasing clout: Something I was told a lot growing up is that the internet is forever, and nothing made that so much clearer than seeing time after time when people would dig up some tweet or post from a decade ago in order to call someone out. Also, kids don't often have the experience or mental ability (growing frontal lobe and all that) to consider the consequences of their actions. Sure, some do better than others, but like. While I was never directly involved in the animation community on yt, I v much remember the "sashley drama" where 14 and 15 year olds wanted to cancel (and even suicide baited) a 13 year old for mistakes as well as them just not understanding things and conflating actions to being way worse than they were.

And a lot of these kids parents I don't think really know what they're doing, letting their adolescents and teens be so open on the internet (plus, there's parents outright exploiting their kids for views and clout, but that's a whole other discussion I cannot stay calm even simply typing out). They don't fully realise how far yt and twitch reaches, how there are people who can find someone's location with just the smallest bits of information (like that person who found the guy hoarding hand sanitizer cuz of the color of the storage unit in the picture or the people who found out where Shia LaBeouf's filming location (I forget what for) based on just the wind patterns thanks to a flag in the background). Kids don't typically readily think about the potential consequences of people knowing or discovering these kinds of things. Even some adults don't.

Burnout is definitely a big thing, and with how much of a failure I felt like not knowing what I wanted to do at 18, I can't imagine how much worse it is for kids seeing successful 14 and 15 year olds, doing what looks like a dream job that looks so much more obtainable than traditional media like being a mainstream actor or model. But I also really worry for the kids who put themselves out there, knocking on doors and asking for the devil. Maybe I'm paranoid but I've seen to many kids ready to attack each other lately that I think this is a really reasonable fear.

I think what’s worse is that it’s not even strictly 14 and 15 year olds, the amount of LITERAL children I’ve seen on social media just through happenstance is WAY too high for my liking and I’m not talking about the parent run ones. I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like for them but god

and it’s really horrible to see how many parents are enabling this purely because they don’t feel like dealing with their kid and decide just throwing a tablet where they have unsupervised access to EVERYTHING. Life is going to be HELL for them growing up.

Like not to be an anti tech boomer but it does make me wish technology didn’t exist sometimes (I will defend technology to the bone in almost any other instance tho). :(

Okay I’m just gonna spill everything that’s going on.

Basically, there is a lot of drama surrounding the animation meme community right now. Rant videos on YouTube are being made and harboring thousands of views, and everyone’s trying to get a piece of all the drama that’s been going on.

Ever since I’ve become friends with Synthia and have been included in her vent world, a lot of people have come after be assuming that I also know the other two people in her vent gang, Ella (Sashley on YT) and Jack (Birdie on YT). I’ve been asked why I support them and I’ve been asked WHO I am, because all three are fairly Youtube famous, and I’m not. Synthia has 480k subs, Sashley has 630k, and Birdie has 100k. I have like. Idk almost 600 (all of which are because synthia once pinned a comment I made). So people don’t really know who I am, and are starting to view me as an easy target to get info from.

I don’t know either of them, and have only recently spoken to Jack myself, as I was invited into his server. I’m not active on it - I’ve only ever said hi. There’s a lot of controversy surrounding their behaviors and people are slamming Synthia for being a part of their friend group. While I do agree that their behaviors are not smart and reckless and somewhat disrespectful at times, I do not believe they are evil people who need to be cancelled from the Internet forever. I think they are children who have a crude sense of humor, and a lot of past traumas from toxic relationships, but I think both sides were somewhat at fault. I don’t know everything about it, and it’s not my buisness to either. Their past should stay with them and it’s them who should work it out, not strangers on the internet making all of their interactions public and injecting their opinions.

But it’s directly affecting Synthia too, and while I don’t support absolutely everything she does, that’s not the requirement for being friends with someone. I’ve heard everything from her side of the story, and she has her own viewpoint that makes sense, and is not the one-sided biased bullshit all the rant videos have been spewing as if it’s fact.

Yesterday her DeviantArt page was raided in the comments section with a crude message and a mocking, extremely mean tone of voice saying vile untrue things. They spammed the picture in the comments section of all the art in her gallery, and replied to every comment left on their with the picture as well, dragging innocent people into it too. Synthia didn’t have the ability to erase them herself. So she had to entrust me with her DA account and I went in and deleted all the hateful messages that had been spammed all over her page, exposing information she didn’t want exposed. There were at least 70 messages I had to delete

They did it to “expose the truth” and it really fucking pissed me off. Who gives them the right to “expose” someone and why do you care THAT MUCH about someone else’s life?? WHO CARES. If you don’t like ther then LEAVE. It’s not that hARD. People pretend like they have ALL of the facts when they DONT. They know NOTHING. They only know what is publically shown and then make tons of assumptions and accusations so they can get views on YouTube and “spread awareness”

Which raises the question of at what point are they going to start coming after me? At what point am I going to make a small mistake on the Internet or say the wrong thing and suddenly be drived off of it forever? There’s a very VERY high chance I’m going to be targeted by a lot of people, and I’m trying to prepare myself for it to happen
