could you tell me more abt ur sardonyx oc! How does she happen is she born w Steven or is it before Steven? Is it an au?
there’s so many possibilities depending on when she’s born that each would create a different au 😭 so i’ll say for this one she’s born before steven but much younger than amethyst
she’s born somewhere in the 1860s so in reality she’s older than 17 but just like the gems act and present a certain age despite being thousand years old, she’s like a 17 year old in a 200 year old’s body 🫶
sardonyx is pearl and garnets kid. her name is sort of coincidental to the fusion but it’s highly likely that a gem baby shares the parents fusion’s gem type. she’s a completely different being though, and while she and fusion sardonyx share a couple of features (like the tooth gap or hair color or being mean theatre loving nerds) she’s different personality wise. sardonyx and amethyst are similar in many ways, they both experience growing up with the crystal gems and their parenting abilities, but while sardonyx feels (and is) more as pearl and garnets kid amethyst sees rose as her primary mother figure so roses death hits her a lot harder
i like to think that despite their age difference they get on really well like sisters, especially considering their cynical and malicious sense of humor and shared parental figures they get to hate on lol
that surely made it harder for steven to bond with either of them at first, considering they already had each other; but steven and amethyst quickly found each others back with their weird mommy-issues-caused-self-worth-issues and sardonyx related to steven more with being the youngest crystal gem that’s always left behind and babied
although i think the gems would have a different approach since having sardonyx; they didn’t have anyone to just leave a helpless baby with while going on missions so they had to bring her anyway (maybe they had a makeshift baby carrier lol) that’s why she got to experience dangerous situations a lot earlier than steven did and that messed her up on her own accord. pearl and garnets reluctance to bring steven along was probably the result of many mishaps and close calls happening to their baby during missions; they didn’t want to put steven in danger to avoid some accidents in the past
the sardonyx arc definitely messed sards up. sure, pearl and garnet disagreed before but after rose she’s seen pearl spiral like never before and it scared her. garnet was still putting on a smile for her but she could see her struggling to keep everything (and pearl) together, so after things getting slightly better between everyone and then sardonyx arc happened….she definitely got more distant from the fusion sardonyx. she didn’t like what she’d become to pearl, just a way to feel stronger and better about herself. she changed her appearance a little to not look as similar (which wasn’t easy, considering they share sister-like features lol) because she didn’t like what she reminded her of.
sardonyx would def appear a little apathetic and distant to steven at first but the truth is she just got the autism remix from both of her moms LMAO, she’s overwhelmed easily so greg coming into their lives also graced her with the blessing of headphones and she kept wearing them ever since. she’s, for the lack of a better word, neurotic like pearl but has a lot more chill thanks to garnets predominant influence, though if upset she’s a lot quicker to anger than either of them (call that grandma ruby’s influence hahs) what they all three have in common is the lack of ability to read social cues this shit runs in the family alright
she was always pearls little shadow when she was younger and if it so happened that not all of them were needed on a mission garnet would go alone or with rose while pearl stayed and looked after sardonyx so they bonded a lot. when she got older though, she became a little critical of pearl’s approach to many situations (which was amplified by her growing up and gaining the mentally of a teenager) and started to side with garnet a lot more especially when discussing what’s best for steven or herself
anyway this is all just rambling nonsense, this au is all over the place i just love my baby so much even though she looks like a lesbian spongebob 🫶

TARGON: GEMS, ORES, AND THEIR USES
[WARNING] There will be some focuses on drugs / religious themes
It is known gems are one of the most valuable materials in Targon, even more than the common gold, of which we’ll focus on later.
Not only they’re used as money during trades (Even with foreign lands), but what they make them special is their magical properties, mainly used in the religious, fashion, and military field. While walking among Rakkors, it’s almost not impossible to notice people wearing at least one jewel, even among the lower classes.
And, mayhaps, if you’re lucky enough -or unlucky, it really depends on the case -, you’ll be able to spot them on some weapons, from their hilts to their blades.
In this worldbuilding we’ll focus on:
- Targon’s territory, climate and soil - Minerals and gems: their use and meaning - Religious, military and fashion usage.
[Read more due to content’s length]
A small introduction to Targon’s territory
(Aka: Silkie attempts to teach you geography despite being a clown who can barely talk her mother language):
Targon prevalently presents itself as a mountainous territory, with wide steep valley areas. It’s bordered to the east by Shurima desert and surrounded by the Marai sea. Despite its location that could suggest a mild and favorable climate, living in such territory could turn out to be a harsh challenge (Mostly depending on the area one decides to live in. The closer one gets to the mountainous area, the colder and drier the climate is) especially during the coldest season, which is infamous to be the period where most deaths are recorded, especially elders and children. That’s why it’s pretty much common people prefer to live either in the plain or next to the coastline (This is mostly the case of fishermen and sailors)
The wind’s heat and strength also depend on the territory. Going up, it’s mostly cold, strong and dry, and the formation of fog and clouds is more than common. Lower areas are often hit by heavy rains, especially during summer.
However, during spring and summer, Targon turns out to be more livable, and during this period Rakkors take the opportunity to prepare supplies for the upcoming winter, mostly in order to avoid famine. Seasonal migrations are quite common among Rakkors.
The flora varies according to the amount of light present on the area, and Solari are mostly found among those lands, even though some of them (especially the scouts and warriors) may live far away from their home, even for years, mostly to supervise the territory, protecting the villages from brigands, barbarians and heretics.
After this introduction, it is now time to focus on its soil and what's possible to find in it.
The soil and what’s possible to find:
Like the wind and the flora, the soil is influenced by the climate too. Since it’s mostly a rocky headland, many types of minerals, stones, and gems can be found, be it inside natural caves, veins, or on the mountain’s surface. Some types of minerals and gemstones can also be found among scree, avalanche chutes, or even next to the Marai coast, therefore explorers prefer to scout these places not to get their hands too much dirty. This, however, requires not only be a mineral expert but also know pretty well Targon and its dangers.
Regarding caves, miners, despite it may be considered to be a lower-class job, it’s considered to be an honorable one among Targonians since it’s thought they’re the first ones to have the honor to touch and see all those natural gifts Gods gave them. It was, however, a very harsh and exhausting job, and it was pretty common getting sick due to mineral dust exposure, which was cancerogenic. They usually even worked constantly, even for days, and accidents, such as collapses, were common and the main cause of death or permanent disability. Miners’ families were economically supported, especially in the case a tragedy happened.
The law toward them, however, was draconic and didn’t tolerate any kind of stealing. If a miner got caught with some goods they found and didn’t consign, they either got ostracized with their family or, even worse, their hands amputated. (Spiteful acts among miners was quite common, especially in cases of rivalry. Do the math)
Some ores that are possible to find in Targon are: - Granite, quartz, copper, gold, silver, diorite, marble, limestone, opal, lapis lazuli, garnet, emerald, sardonyx, amber, amethyst etc...
As it’s possible to see, the list is quite long and it’s almost impossible to list all the ores present in Targon. Used from architecture to mere aesthetic, the usage/demand is also highly influenced by religion, so much that Solari forbade to collect minerals connected with Lunari, such as the rare moonstone, to the point they even destroyed or closed some mines/deposits. However, it’s said there illegal trafficking/gathering of those gems.
Ores: their meaning and magical properties
With a millennial culture based on magic, the importance Targonians give to gems is boundless, and it’s even said some of them are connected with a specific constellation or celestial bodies. (Minerals like ruby, amber, and topaz are connected with the Sun, while moonstones, opal, sapphire, and even pearls are connected with the Moon)
Here are some gems and their meaning (Gathered by consulting all the source I’ll link below):
Amethyst
Wisdom, intuition, balance. It has healing and protective properties. It’s considered to be a protective stone, therefore it’s pretty common to see it in many Lunari jewels and weapons’ adornments. Newborns usually wear a bracelet made with this gem, and they keep it till the teenage years.
Amber
Purification, strength, protection. Many Solari legends say these are the Sun’s tears, and their power is able to cleanse the body from every disease. This gem is widely appreciated among women, and children are usually seen wearing these.
Moonstone
Dreams, inner peace, hope. This is one of the most important and sacred Lunari stones. Not only weapons are made with these, but also many lucky charms. Priests, warriors, and village leaders are required to wear them.
Sunstone
Luck, self-empowerment, leadership. As above, this is one of the most sacred stones among Solari. Priests and village leaders are required to wear it, usually as jewels. They usually adorn Ra Horak’s armors and weapons.

TRIVIA:
- Some gems are used to make jewels that are said to protect from the evil. Some of them are even used during an exorcism. Many priests said that some stones even left scars on the possessed’s skin, as if they were burning their skin.
- They’re commonly used to make pipes, especially those used to smoke drugs, as it’s said they enhance some properties. Among priests, this is pretty common, not to mention there are many people who collect them, willing to buy some at a high price.
- Goldsmith and craftsman’s jobs are some of the most required and well paid in Targon, and they’re commonly supported by a high priest, as they help them to infuse the goods they craft with magic and blessings.
- When a child is born, their cradle is adorned with protective stones and they wear many jewels made with them, keeping them till a certain age. They even pass through generations, and it’s even said a curse will be cast upon them if they try to sell or destroy it.
#born from stars and blood(targon worldbuilding)#they buried us but they didn’t know we were seeds(lunari hcs)#their glittering gold will never hide the blood of innocents they’ve shed(solari hcs)#Silkie being proud of a worldbuilding? wut?#tw: drugs#tw: smoking#long post#tw: long post
