Okay, Rings of Power 1.2!

It felt like a very long episode, not in a bad way, but a lot happened without it feeling rushed. The ad frequency was ANNOYING AS FUCK but that's my only run time complaint.

The division between POVs is managed well considering there's already so many of them. I always wanted to be back with the others, but I was also always invested with whoever was on screen. That being said-

I understand, through osmosis, that boat boy is Sauron. I am pleased about this because I otherwise have very little interest in his broody,self serving schtick- not that broody and self serving can't be interesting character traits ( and okay, I warmed up to him right at the end) BUT they were clearly trying to misdirect with some kind of secretly the rightful heir/king and that's NOT a trope I'm super interested in watching play out.

I was right about Gandalf (really, there's no one else it can be, and I'm gonna squee so hard when he's actually NAMED OUT LOUD). I love Nori and Poppy's whole dynamic, the actresses have great chemistry and you can tell they've been ride or die friends their whole lives without that being spelt out, it's great.

Durin and- I want to say Dara? Is that her name? Because they're both good but SHE is PERFECT- again, you *believe* their marriage with as much that's unsaid as said.

I love the dwarf scenes in general. Is that that arkenstone in that box at the end? Whatever it is I don't see it ending well oops.

Celimbrimbor is, indeed, Baby. Interesting mix of self depreciation and arrogance and earnestness, I LOVE HIM. Also loved Elrond in this episode-- I appreciate a character who knows when to apologise and when to yield...it feels very rare, especially for male characters.

The orc design is fab. The cut scene (no pun intended) with the head? 10/10

So, in the last episode, I thought everybody was seeing the same comet- but were they seeing different ones? The Ents we caught a glimpse of, for example, might have been seeing Radagast? (Or Saramun, if it was Fanghorn forest- that's the one by Isengard, right?) Anyway, I love the Gandalf Scenes most out everything this episode.

It all continues to look visually stunning.

And now, onto Episode 3, where I assume-given the talk in THIS episode, Galadriel is about to be taken prisoner by corsairs. OH, one last thing!

Sea Worm did nothing wrong ever he is precious and I love him and he *deserves* tasty snack. So there.
