Yale graduate student Sarah Braasch (white) called the police because her fellow graduate student Lolade Siyonbola (black) was napping in a campus common area. Although Siyonbola had a student ID, and showed the police that she had a working room key and Yale email address, the police still grilled her for 15-20 minutes while trying to confirm her status as a Yale student. Eventually the police conceded and âadmonishedâ Braasch, telling her Siyonbola âhad every right to be present.â
Braasch had told the police she didnât know Siyonbola. That was probably a lie: Back in March, Siyonbola invited several colleagues, including fellow graduate student Jean-Louis Reneson (black), to a meeting in the common room. When Reneson arrived, Braasch physically blocked his entry to the common room, accusing him of being âan intruderâ rather than another student. She then called the police to report a âsuspicious character.â
Braasch is quite the interesting complainant. She has openly proclaimed âI love hate speech,â but she is probably best known for her vehement (and, in her own words, âpurposely and purposefully provocativeâ) opposition to traditional Muslim garments such as the burqa, hijab, and niqab, and her vocal support of laws banning them. Braasch claims to be âan incipient First Amendment lawyer and a staunch church-state separatistâ; nevertheless, she supports âthe anticipated public burqa ban in France. And I would support a similar ban in the United States and anywhere else in the world.â
Braaschâs reasoning is as fascinating as it is disturbing. She analogizes Muslim women who voluntarily wear these garments to African-American slaves who wanted to remain slaves after emancipation.
âWe have decided that we wonât let human beings choose slavery as a result of their skin color, but we permit women to do so in the context of religion.â
Braasch insists society has the obligation to impose burqa bans and pass similar laws to protect âwomen who choose to be âslavesâ in abusive, misogynistic, or otherwise patriarchal religious traditions.â Naturally, in her view anyone who dares to disagree with her is a woman-hating misogynist.
A 2010 article in which Braasch made these arguments was recently taken down for being âinaccurate and racially offensive.â Her racist views clearly havenât improved since then.

So Sarah Braasch is complaining that her life is âoverâ. .. yet what she did is common practice for workers working with racialized youth in group homes and shelters. Which leads to deaths and super horrific practices that no one ever hears about (or even believes).Â
What she did was actually pretty typical and I am SO happy that knee-jerk bigotry is getting a hard look at by the people.Â
These knee-jerk bigoted moves kill marginalized people every fucking day. There is nothing to be sympathetic towards Sarah for. She literally couldâve apologized and yet still feels in the right for needlessly calling the cops on an innocent black woman.Â
Justice has been SERVED. and not by the state, but by the people.Â

#ThisIsAmerica...
Yeah, this is America. Racists be trippin'. Police be trippin'. Trump be trippin'.
There are countless stories of white people summoning the police to harass and arrest people of color who were peacefully shopping, or driving, or sitting in a Starbucks, or sitting in their own car and reading, or waiting for a bus, or jogging, or walking, or touring a college campus, or renting a house, or almost any other mundane activity.
And while this particular story ended with no physical harm done, others like it ended violently and tragically: Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland, Eric Garner, and too many others.Â

by ROY EDROSOÂ MAY 14, 2018
The Age of Trump has conservative intellectuals in an embarrassing predicament: Trump has either turned conservatism into, or revealed conservatism to be, nothing but a gigantic grift, so who needs conservative intellectuals? When Republican tax cuts are such a brazen payoff to the super-rich that even tax-hating voters donât believe it will ever trickle down, and when Michael Cohen taking obvious bribes from AT&T and Novartis exemplifies âdraining the swamp,â how could anyone listen to a right-wing pencil-neck talk about conservative policy without laughing?
But donât worry about the pencil-necks, theyâve found a way around this dilemma by escalating the decades-long culture war, diverting their audiencesâ attention from the real issues with little melodramas in which conservatives are oppressed by Black Panther, Wonder Woman, and Shakespeare in the Park (boo!), then are rescued at the last minute by right-wing stars like Kid Rock and Kanye West (hurray!).
And now conservatives even have their own Wingnut Avengers for their Infinity Culture War: the Dark Intellectual Web, a group of conservatives and crypto-conservatives whose unifying principle seems to be that liberals are mean and therefore out of step with the millions of Americans who have never heard of the Dark Intellectual Web.
Last Tuesday Bari Weiss filed a gripping story at the allegedly leftist New York Timesabout the âRenegades of the Intellectual Dark Web,â who are either known conservatives like Ben Shapiro or public figures whose fans are nearly 100 percent conservative, usually because they have something bad to say about minorities, but who resist the label and prefer to call themselves âlibertariansâ or âclassical liberals.â
IDW superheroes include Douglas Murray, one of those Islam-Wants-to-Kill-Us-All types; Christina Hoff Sommers, a Milo-fan anti-feminist libertarian who doesnât like Muslims either; Claire Lehmann, who believes ânationalism is the antidote to racism,â and claims to have been âblacklistedâ for âcriticizing feminismâ; atheist It Boy, Ben Carson fan, and idol of the alt-right Sam Harris; right-wing intellectual of the moment, clean-your-room scold, trans-rights opponent, and disbeliever in the gender pay gap Jordan Peterson, et alia.
According to Weiss, what unifies this crew is not their tendency to identify with the powerful against the powerless, but rather that âeach is determined to resist parroting whatâs politically convenientâ â which I guess is the cool new IDweb way of saying âpolitically correctâ â and their alleged willingness âto disagree ferociously, but talk civilly.â Weiss did not offer evidence for this claim.
Weissâ article was mocked by mean liberals, particularly because Weiss portrayed the IDweb as âfeeling largely locked out of legacy outletsâ and âpurged from institutions that have become increasingly hostile to unorthodox thought,â a sort of Kevin Williamson what-about-my-right-to-be-in-your-magazine maneuver. Weiss didnât help her cause by claiming in a series of tweets (seconded by her right-wing fans) that, if followers of Donald Trump were racist and sexist, it was only because liberals had turned them racist and sexist by making fun of them, which is how Hitler took over Germany.
Right-bloggers and other conservatives sprang to this classic conservative mix of self-aggrandizement and persecution like kittens to catnip, though not as gracefully.
At Hot Air, John Sexton celebrated podcaster Dave Rubin, âone of the leading talkers in the IDW,â because âRubin isnât screaming. He isnât angry,â which is apparently remarkable among conservative intellectuals. To demonstrate Rubinâs appeal, Sexton quoted some of his ârational, intriguing, thought-provoking content.â For example, if you âbelieve that people should be judged by their character, not their skin colorâ and âin freedom of religion,â Rubin has said, then âyouâre probably not a progressive,â because progressives go around âbanning speakers whose opinions [they] donât agree with from college campusesâŠprohibiting any words not approved of as âpolitically correct,â â and âputting âTrigger Warningsâ on books, movies, music, anything that might offend peopleâ â as, coincidentally, I was just doing on my day off, because my week had been taken up in recreational abortions and otherwise Ă©patering le bourgeois.
Andrew Sullivan admitted the IDweb had ânot been silenced,â but that they âhave definitely been morally anathematized, in the precincts of elite opinion,â to a collective gasp and the covering of ladiesâ ears. Sullivan accused Ta-Nehisi Coates of doing to newly right-woke Kanye West as elite opinion had done to the IDweb by âsubjecting West to anathematization, to expulsion from the ranks.â (For the uninitiated, Coates is a writer known mainly to readers of political magazines, while West is a global superstar; but, like the Dark Web superstars, West suffers mightily from anathema and expulsion.)
At National Review David French said the IDweb guys were also oppressed because âthe path to prominence for many of these now-popular people has sometimes been painful.â For example, Peterson had âbattled (at great professional risk) for free speech in Canada,â and paid for it by remaining a tenured professor while making huge bank off videos and TV shows.
IDweb fans were even more oppressed than Peterson, French pressed on, because they âfear that even asking questions could endanger their livelihoods and ruin their public reputations.â The best French could do to explain this is by saying that while, admittedly, âthe law of free speech has mainly improvedâŠthe culture of free speech has decayedâ â that is, âpeople in academia and in much of corporate AmericaâŠreport increasingly politicized workplaces, with HR departments weaponized in the service of identity politics social-media accounts monitored for thought crimes.â Insult your co-workers as biologically inadequate, and you might lose your job! This ainât the country your pappy grew up in, assuming he was white.
History suggests the IDweb phenomenon will be evanescent and mainly benefit its promoters, like the hippie-dippy âCrunchy Conservatismâ once advocated by current Benedict Option scold Rod Dreher, or the fart-jokey âSouth Park Conservatismâ briefly pimped by Brian C. Anderson, now editor of City Journal. But in the current environment of perpetual right-wing grievance, IDweb conservatism may have more staying power because there are plenty of angry wingnuts out there.
For example: You may have heard about white Yale student Sarah Braasch, who last week called the cops on a black student who had been napping in the dorm lounge; on a previous occasion, Braasch had chased another black student out of the dorm.
Turns out Braasch was not just a run-of-the-mill racist, but what we might call an Intellectual Dark Racist. She has written at length about her anger at seeing women in hijabs â which she assumed theyâd been forced into wearing, because Muslims, right? â and then congratulated herself on her bravery in saying so out loud: âIf I should ever get into any kind of a dispute or altercation with anyone who claims to be Muslim,â she fantasized, âI could conceivably be prosecuted for a hate crime,â in part because, she said, âI love hate speech.â But hark, libtards, âyou canât scare me,â cried Braasch defiantly: âWhat are you going to do? Kill me? Put me in prison? Weâre all going to die someday.â
Braasch has it all: Intense fear of at least two minorities, a persecution complex, and a tendency toward provocative declarations. If she plays her cards right, she could be Bari Weissâ next superstar.

In the police shootings of Emantic âE.J.â Bradford, Willie McCoy, and Laquan McDonald, authorities have allowed family members to watch the bodycam footage in private while intentionally withholding video evidence from the public. I bet Sarah was furious at the prospect of being treated like a common negro. When she saw the video that proved she was had no malicious intent, I bet sheâ
Wait. What?
She didnât watch the video?
The Yale Police Department refused Braaschâs formal Freedom of Information request but offered to set up a time for Braasch to view the video. In a move commonly known as âwhite-womaning,â Braasch declined the offer to watch the tape. She wants to release it on the internet and says if she canât have it her way, she will continue to cry profusely on YouTube until her dripping mascara poisons the entire countryâs water table.
The police say that state law prohibits them from releasing footage of people who have not committed a crime. Because most of the footage is their questioning of Siyonbola, they would not violate her rights, according to Yale Police Chief Ronnell Higgins.
You HAVE, to watch her video. It will leave you ROLLING.

That deplorable fuck clearly demonstrates a perverted sense of entitlement.
Today in Racist Fuckery (5.11.18): Sarah Braasch, the racist who reported Yale graduate student Lolade Siyonbola for sleeping in a dorm common room has a LONG history of bullshit. Not only has she called the police on Black students before, simply for existing, she takes pride in winning pro-slavery debates, shaming Muslim women, and being vehemently pro-hate speech. The fact that Yale has yet to take action on a student that habitually threatens the safety of Black students shows their lack of commitment in creating a safe and equitable learning environment. Moreso, Braaschâs self-proclaimed feminism and pro-human rights bona fides make a farce of all too many âwhite alliesâ who offer only their conditional and situational solidarity. I canât even say anything about demanding justice at this point. All I can say is be wary and weary of oppressors claiming to be âalliesâ for your liberation. #trustissues

Upon first glance, this trend among makeup artists might seem innocent, as many other white and non-Black people have unquestionably used their social media in more actively harmful ways when speaking about recent uprisings. But this trend still deserves examination regardless of intent. Black aesthetics, such as darker or bronzed skin, fuller lips, and thicker eyebrows and eyelashes are traits that many white makeup artists and influencers have appropriated in recent years. The Kardashians come to mind as influencers who are guilty of âblackfishing,â or profiting off of Black beauty standards as white women, and many other white makeup artists and influencers have also been criticized for this behavior in the past. This behavior indicates that while white makeup artists are capable of mapping Black aesthetics or culture onto themselves, theyâre still unable to raise awareness for Black politics in a meaningful way.
âI feel that these makeup looks are extraordinarily [lacking] ways to bring awareness to the current climate of our country,â Amanda Elimian, a Black content creator, YouTube personality, and makeup artist, told Bitch in an email. âThere are so many other ways to bring awareness instead of poorly scribbling âI canât breatheâ on your face. An actual act of solidarity would be to break your Instagram aesthetic, which many are actually concerned about, and post a Black Lives Matter image with details about how to donate to bail relief funds or petitions to sign.â
These makeup artistsâ actions are particularly ignorant in light of the history of white women aiding police efforts to arrest and harm Black people. In May, a video of Amy Cooper, a white woman, falsely telling the police that Christian Cooper, a Black man, was threatening her and her dog went viral, quickly becoming evidence of the ways that white women often manipulate violent and racist systems like the police to their advantage. Cooper is one of countless white women who have similarly weaponized their privilege to undermine the safety of Black people. In 2018, for example, a white woman in San Francisco called the cops on a young Black girl trying to sell water bottles in her neighborhood. In 2019, Yale doctoral Sarah Braasch, a white woman, called the cops on Lolade Siyonbola, a fellow Yale graduate student, for what she called âaggressively napping.â In light of this history, white women expressing their anger about police brutality toward Black people through a performative makeup look or Instagram post rather than through tangible support like donating to bail funds or circulating of news becomes even more upsetting and nefarious, especially so alongside their increasing social and monetary power.

I have. She has a rap sheet thatâs seven miles long. The best part is that sheâs a âfeministâ and has a passion for womenâs rights. LMAO, White Feminist alert.
