vanathi is the grandchild of a well-renowned commander, her grandfather was an immortal demigod, who left behind the ring that made him immortal, only for his son to ignore and vanathi to find and accidentally put on. she spent the biggest part of her adulthood getting killed for the crirtha crown, until she grew weary of it and moved to destarin. She identifies as a demi-woman, and uses she/they pronouns.

Vanathi’s grandfather was a well-known commander during the Forty Seasons War. By some mystery he became immortal. He aged, but he could not be killed by none-natural means. As a result he was often leading charges into battle, not minding being killed as he realised very early on that he would be resurrected. His immortality wasn’t his only strength however, he was a great strategic mind as well, leading the forces of Crirtha to many victories. He survived the war, however most of his children did not, and when he died at an old age, he only had one son left. 

This son inherited a ring, boring and made of brash, and he did not wear it. But he kept it regardless, he had two children of his own, Vanathi and a son Adithi. Vanathi came upon the ring by accident, and put it on because that’s what kids do. When she could not remove it, she panicked and hacked off her own finger. It grew back in a few minutes, and the ring was now on her other hand. 

It was the start of a beautiful life…

Only it really wasn’t. Vanathi’s ‘skill’ was requested constantly: someone to do all the dangerous missions, the ones that most people didn’t come back from alive. She was send on these suicide missions with the idea that if she did die: she’d regenerate at some point. She even had her little crew of people who would come look for her if she didn’t return from her missions. Her father was proud of her, but Vanathi quickly grew tired of her life. She was famed in Crirtha, but hated by a lot of the royal family’s enemies. The only thing she did like about it was the fame, the love, and the title. Vanathi called herself The Vaanii, and would request her followers and those around her called her that. 

But despite being Immortal, there was a promise that she could die. She wouldn’t know how, but her grandfather had also not lived much longer than other Demigods. According to her father, there was a chance of her dying before her time, if she faced her ‘true death’, a way in which she could be killed. So despite being Immortal, she was still nervous every time she failed and got killed. 

Eventually the stress got too much, and despite her father’s pleas, Vanathi announced her departure from the court of Crirtha and travel where she wouldn’t be so quickly called back: Destarin.

species: immortal demigod (3rd generation). weaknesses: old age, true death, very weak to ammoniac gasses. strengths: invulnerability/immortality/ability to come back from the dead and an almost unending source of stamina. physical description: vanathi looks human, her grandfather was a demi-god, but that blood has since been muddled, making her own blood only appear golden from a certain angle. she’s a beauty and despite the amount of times she’s died, there are no scars on her body except those she had before she began to wear the ring. additional info: the ring is an heirloom that can only be worn by members of vanathi’s family.

From Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 to Singham Again: 7 sequels releasing in 2024!

Just as 2023 was inundated with sequels (10 in all, including the Netflix Lust Stories anthology film), 2024, as of now, is set to have eight of them, plus a spin-off. As of now, as per reports, only two—Stree 2 and Raid 2—are likely to be true sequels, just like Gadar 2 and Tiger 3 last year. Last year, these sequels were crowded between June and December, but this year, they will begin from February itself. And this time, T-Series and Jio Studios are involved as producers in three movies each.

Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 (earlier film in 2010) The next in the Balaji Telefilms’ bold franchise that introduced Rajkummar Rao and was Nushrratt Bharuccha’s first hit, the film was to release in February itself, but has now been postponed to April 19. Dibakar Banerjee is writer-director and co-producer again. As of now, Nimrit Ahluwalia, Anupam Joardar and the foreign actress Rossana Elsa Scugugia are the only cast known.

Singham Again (earlier films in 2010 and 2014) The iconic Rohit Shetty character of Singham will be back after Singham (that started Rohit’s Cop Universe) and Singham Returns, on Independence Day. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (earlier films in 2007 and 2022) Anees Bazmee, director of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (which netted Rs. 185 crores in India) is helming the third part of the franchise that started with Priyadarshan’s cult horror comedy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which was his last Hindi hit, in 2007. He repeats his 2022 lead pair, Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan, with Madhuri Dixit Nene, Vidya Balan from the first film in the franchise, Naseeruddin Shah and Elnaaz Nouruzi as co-star. The music for this November release is likely to be scored by the franchise’s composer, Pritam. The film is again produced by T-Series Films.

Raid 2 (earlier film in 2018) Ajay Devgn once again plays an upright Income-Tax official in this sequel to Raid (a Rs. 100 crores grosser), which is helmed again by Raj Kumar Gupta. Vaani Kapoor is the new leading lady, while Riteish Deshmukh is the antagonist. This is yet another T-Series franchise.

Welcome to the Jungle (earlier films in 2007 and 2015) Ahmed Khan directs this multi-star adventure that will try and reprise the whacky mood of its predecessors.
