Hello!
I’m cairophoenix on ao3, where I currently write a lot of Imodna fic.
Recent & favorites:
I Prefer Girls (13.3k, 3/? chapters), a 1950s AU and my current WIP.
every thought's a possibility (57k, seven chapters, completed), a canon-divergent fake dating fic set after the party separation and a reunion in Rexxentrum. Check out art by @avalencias from Chapter 3 and by @astoriacolumnstaircase from Chapter 6.
Capable, Exalted: A Primary Source History of the Ruidian Solstice (15k one-shot), an epistolary fic that tells Imogen and Laudna's entire story, from pre-campaign to post-campaign, in the form of Laudna's journal entries. Featuring art by @dadrielle throughout.
More below the fold!
and we’ll share my all is a 7k fic set in the Dusk era, featuring a great deal of jealous Imogen, puppetry angst, Pâté as coping mechanism, and Laudna figuring out her feelings. Here is some amazing art that @avalencias did of it!
bittersweet, sly, uncontrollable is 7k of mutually confused pining on the theme of “five times Laudna didn’t access that part of her brain, and one time she did.”
black and all blue is a 3k character study of Imogen’s guilty, self-blaming wrath and the way it explodes outwards.
until the mosses take root in thunder is 6k of Imogen poorly crafting Laudna a Definitely Platonic Engagement Ring. Here is more amazing @avalencias art and here is some incredible @dadrielle art.
the truth must dazzle gradually is a 4.5k fic about Laudna sorting through her feelings for Imogen the night before the solstice, and Pâté helping her figure it all out.
Home, Made is a 6.5k precanon fic about crafting, homesickness, and learning to live together.
dreams of you and mistletoe is a 13k holiday modern AU co-written with @lorrxrai.
And WAY back in the day I wrote a Sanvers publishing AU called Track Changes and a Lydia/Gigi (Lizzie Bennet Diaries) fic called from the dark with you above, on the off-chance that that’s why you’re here!

Maggie’s Drive to Midvale
“Alex breaking down while home and Maggie comes after her” prompt from @lastbestplace and “Eliza calling Maggie to check on her post break up. What if Eliza reveals she also never wanted kids (Jeremiah did) but her perspective changed when she had Alex?  Maggie shows up in Midvale to make things right and get Alex back.” from @crimson-archangel and “how maggie got through her first night without alex (i know. sorry.)” from @freewillandphysics
She’s drunk.
She’s too drunk to drive and she’s almost too drunk to sling words together, let alone put one foot in front of the other.
She’s heard through the grapevine that Kara whisked Alex off to Midvale.
She would take her bike out there right now if she wasn’t sure she’d crash it. If she wasn’t sure it would be completely disrespectful of Alex’s obvious desire to not be with her.
Completely disrespectful of Alex’s choice to leave her behind. To abandon her for the sake of something, someone, she doesn’t even have yet, might not even want for years now.
She orders another round.
Her phone buzzes.
Her heart leaps, because maybe it’s Alex. Maybe it’s Alex, calling to tell her that she loves her, that she’s changed her minds, that we should kiss the girls we wanna kiss and she wants to kiss...
It’s not Alex.
It’s Alex’s mother.
Maggie fumbles to press the magical green button that will bring her a little bit closer to Alex. Alex’s stubbornness, her persistence, her brilliance. Her cold streak, her warmth, all mixed together.
She fumbles to press it, fast, because god, no, please say nothing’s happened to Alex, that nothing’s wrong, that --
“Dr. Danvers, is everything alright? Is Alex okay? Kara?”
There’s a slight silence on the other end, and Maggie frowns at her phone, like it’s offended her, like it caused Eliza to butt dial her, like --
“You’re going to have to say that again, Maggie dear, I’m afraid I couldn’t understand you.”
Maggie puts her finger in her opposite ear like that will help Eliza hear better.
No.
No, that’s not it. She must have been slurring. All that alcohol.
Dammit.
She tries again, repeating herself, slower this time, more intentional.
“Yes, yes, the girls are safe, no one’s hurt. I was... I was actually calling about you, sweetie. I wanted to see if you’re with someone who can take care of you. But you... you sound like you’re alone. With a bottle of the same thing Alex is glued to right now.”
She says that last part more to herself than to Maggie, but Maggie hears, and her heart shreds.
“You didn’t have to call, Dr. Danvers, you... you have your own kids to take care of -- “
“Just because you and Alex don’t think you can work it out doesn’t mean you’re no longer a daughter to me, Maggie.”
She nearly starts sobbing at the sentiment, but something in the detective part of her brain slows her emotions. She squints. She tilts her head. She leans into her phone almost desperately.
“Don’t think we can work it out? Why? You... do you think we do?”
She hears Eliza chuckle softly, and she wonders if she said something funny.
“Just as sharp as Alex always says you are, even brimming with alcohol.” She hears her sigh, and it reaches her ear like a loud gust of wind. She nearly drops her phone, but she hangs onto it like a lifeline.
“Dr. Danvers -- “
“You’re the only person who knows what’s best for you, Maggie. And I respect you not wanting children. I respect it quite a lot more than you might expect. And I would never want to try and change your mind.”
“But...” Maggie supplies, not knowing if she’s annoyed, angry, or hopeful for the first time since she and Alex had made love for the last time.
The last time.
She nearly chokes on a sob.
“But,” Eliza sighs. “I didn’t... I didn’t want children. Alex was... well, we didn’t conceive on purpose, but Jeremiah wanted a child so badly, and when... I’ve never loved anyone or anything as powerful as I love the woman you’re drinking over right now. And I’m not... I’m not saying that to guilt you, Maggie, or to... I didn’t even intend to say any of this when I called you, but I... you fit together. Your values align. Your goals.”
“Our goals? She wants... she wants PTA meetings and brownies and... and mom stuff!” Maggie splutters, agonized, and Eliza sighs again, but softer this time.
“That’s not all there is to being a parent. And fostering is... taking in Kara was... no. No, no no no no, I’m sorry, Maggie. I didn’t call to convince you of anything any which way, I genuinely called to see if you need anything, if I can do anything. Where are you? Are you home? You sound like you’re at a bar. Can I call you a cab, please? Will you let me do that for you, Maggie dear?”
She does.
She does let her, because she suddenly feels an urgent need to be home. Well, on her work partner’s couch, anyway.
Because she needs to sleep off this drunken stupor. Sleep it off enough to drive.
Because in the morning, that’s exactly what she does.
Drives.
Drives her motorcycle miles and miles and miles, coffee staving off a hangover and nerves keeping her alert.
Alex is on the porch with Eliza and Kara when she gets there.
Her eyes are red and swollen, like she only fell asleep come morning. Like she’s been crying. Like she’s been drinking as much as Maggie has.
She rushes her park job and she tugs off her helmet and she notes vaguely that Eliza is smiling and that Kara looks ready to throw her beyond Saturn, but she only has eyes for Alex.
Alex, who’s dropped her mug of coffee.
Alex, whose eyes are flooded with fresh tears.
Alex, whose jaw is nearly on the porch.
Alex.
The love of her life.
The woman she wants to marry, the woman she wants to be her forever.
The woman whose name burns in her blood and whose laughter courses through her veins.
“I heard everything you said,” she starts, and Alex walks down from the porch, toward her, like she’s in a trance.
And maybe she is.
Maybe they both are.
“I heard everything you said, about how we can’t be together. About you wanting -- needing -- to be a mom. And I know you heard me. About how it’s not some trauma issue, how I’m not going to change my mind. And if... if this is crossing too many boundaries, if my being here is harming your healing, I’ll go. I’ll disappear, and you will never see me again.”
Both of their eyes burn with the memories of old words, new. Healed wounds, fresh.
“But if you give me just two minutes of your time, I -- “
“Two minutes,” Alex interrupts her, her voice cracked, her eyes blazing, her arms crossed over her chest and her lips moist.
“I know how badly you wanna be a mom. And I respect that. I... it’s not what I expected, but I love that about you. That you want to... Alex, I love everything about you. But we didn’t... we got so wrapped up in what we can’t do that we didn’t get wrapped up in what we could do. You being a mom and us being together but the kid being yours, unless... unless maybe getting to know the kid... your kid... would get me feeling otherwise, and we decided... Or fostering. Maybe teenagers, or older kids, maybe that would feel different to me than raising a baby. I know you made your decision, and I respect it, Alex, I respect you, I just... I just wanted to ask one more time, if we could... I don’t wanna give up on us, babe, I -- “
But the rest of her words are lost on Alex’s lips, on Alex’s tongue, on Alex’s hands in her hair and Alex’s tears on her cheeks.
“I love you,” Alex is whispering into her mouth, over and over and over and over, and Maggie is whispering the same, over and over and over and over.
Kara hugs Eliza, back on the porch, and when Maggie finally opens her tear-streaked eyes, finally glances past Alex’s face to those of her family -- their family -- all she sees are smiles that are welcoming her home.

Nah she won't be reaching out. They're reunion will wind up being on another crime scene. Alex will be there in some DEO capacity chasing an alien and the NCPD will have been called to the scene (it's still ongoing) after reports of suspicious behaviour and gunfire and doesn't recognize Alex at first because her back is to Maggie, who has her gun drawn and aimed at Alex. Maggie yells freeze, NCPD and Alex is stunned and frozen in a way that only happens when you unexpectedly run into your ex and let's put a strangled "Maggie?" As she turns around slowly and Maggie responds with "Danvers? What are you-" and then they're interrupted by the alien Alex was chasing and have to stop him and don't get time for much else until another episode.
New theory
Sam isn’t going to die after all.
Alex looking after Ruby has already been enough to make her think about what having a kid in her life right now means so that bit of narrative has been served.
Reign is either only partially contained or the cure turns out to be only a treatment. Either way Sam has to move to Argo City to be near the black rock and of course Ruby goes with her.
Lena vows to find a way to bring her home again.
Bonus points if Supergirl is somehow responsible for the cure not working which sets up an antagonistic relationship between Lena and Supergirl for season 4 because we know they’re going to pit those two against each other. My hope is that while Lena may be operating in the dark grey moral area it will be against everything morally grey about the DEO forcing Supergirl to call into question actions that, in the past, her faith in Alex and J'onn convinced her to ignore.

The Reunion
Alex had not been looking forward to this night. She had tried everything possible to get out of it; from feigning illness, to bribing Vasquez into reporting a false alien attack, to outright handcuffing herself to the bed and attempting to lure Maggie in with her feminine wiles.
Surprisingly, none of it had worked and Maggie had to practically drag her from the hotel room, kicking and screaming. It wasn’t until her wife had promised her a night of post-reunion sex and ice cream that Alex begrudgingly agreed to go. If only for one hour.
“And not a minute longer,” Alex added as Maggie drove them to the high school reunion on her bike. “Seriously. I’m setting my timer the second we enter the parking lot. As soon as it rings, we are getting out of there.”
“Understood,” Maggie had laughed, patting her wife’s hand affectionately as they stopped at a red light. “And you’ll get rocky road for your troubles.”
“Can I eat it off your body?” Alex purred in Maggie’s ear, making the other woman shudder. She knew exactly what she was doing—and so did the detective.
“Stop that,” Maggie husked, “or you won’t be getting anything.”
Alex snorted and kissed her shoulder. Maggie was wearing that red leather jacket that Alex had bought her for their first anniversary. It fit her like a glove and made Alex’s heart start to race whenever the woman put it on. She often lost her train of thought when she was explaining something to her trainees at the DEO and Maggie showed up to take her to lunch, wearing that jacket.
She’d also put on an NCPD shirt underneath the jacket after Alex had explained to her how uncool she’d been in high school. She’d had only one or two friends at a time, but they’d always drifted apart at some point. Otherwise, she was just known as that nerdy girl with the freaky little sister.
“Let’s see how ‘nerdy’ they think you are when you show up with your FBI badge and hot detective wife.”
“My hot detective wife who’s in the Science Division,” Alex pointed out. “They’ll think you’re an even bigger nerd that I am. And you kinda are.” Maggie had stuck out her tongue and Alex laughed, pulling her closer to catch her tongue with her own lips. Maggie moaned into her mouth and cupped Alex’s jaw in her hands. When they pulled away, Alex nuzzled her nose and chuckled. “My incredibly hot nerdy wife,” she sighed. “All the guys that used to call me a frigid bitch for not responding to their flirts are going to be incredibly jealous. We might have to kick a few asses.”
“The best kind of foreplay.”
The second Maggie parked and put down her kickstand, Alex had her phone out and the timer began. They had sixty minutes to get in and then get out. She just hoped that she could survive it.
“You ready for this?” Maggie asked, straightening Alex’s dress shirt and blazer.
“I don’t know…” Alex sighed. “Do I look too gay?”
“There’s no such thing and you know it,” Maggie retorted. “Come on.” She linked her fingers with Alex’s and led her toward the doors of the gymnasium, which were decorated with balloons and a banner that read: “Welcome Back, Class of 2007!”
Alex’s stomach filled with dread as she followed the other woman inside, instantly feeling as if she’d been brought back in time. Music from the early 2000’s met her and she almost laughed. The Pussycat Dolls vibrated through her nerves as she and Maggie walked through a room that looked as if it were decorated for a middle school dance and not for the fifteen-year reunion of a high school class. Alex’s trained eyes clocked each individual as she walked past them; familiar faces that seemed to have aged two decades overnight stared back at her and whispered among themselves. She checked her phone.
57 minutes left.
“Let’s get a drink,” Maggie suggested.
“Please,” Alex agreed and Maggie snorted, leading her to a bar that was set up in the corner. Alex opened her mouth to order, but a squeeze on her hand silenced her.
“Two diet cokes,” Maggie ordered. Alex almost groaned, but she understood. If she started drinking right now, there was no telling how many she would have afterward. Even in just an hour.
“Coming right up,” the bartender said, looking at Alex funny. “Danvers?” he asked as he reached under the counter for two cans of the soda and slid them across to Maggie, who handed one to her wife. “Is that you?”
“Um…yes?” Alex said, looking down at the tag she’d picked up at the front table. “It’s me. And you are…?” He wasn’t wearing a tag.
“Oh, you probably don’t remember me,” the bartender laughed. “I’m from a different class than you, two grades down. My name’s Henry Tam. We were in the chemistry club together.”
“Hank?” Alex asked. “Is that really you?” She grinned. “Well, look at you, all grown up.”
“Literally,” Henry laughed. “I must have grown about two feet since the last time we saw each other. How’ve you been, by the way?” He glanced at Maggie and held out his hand. “You a friend of Danvers?”
“A little more than just a friend,” Maggie replied, shaking his hand. The metal on her ring finger glinted under the light above the bar and Henry’s eyes widened. He turned back to a blushing Alex.
“Hank,” she said. “This is my wife, Maggie.”
“Whoa,” Henry said, with a growing smile on his face. “I knew we had a lot in common, Danvers, but I thought it was mostly the nerdy stuff.” When Alex furrowed her brow, Henry reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet, showing her the picture inside. “That’s my husband, Richard, and our little girls, Coco and Michelle.” Two toddlers hung off of their dads like tiny monkeys, smiling toothily at the camera in matching dresses.
“They’re beautiful, Hank,” Alex said, smiling brightly. “How long have you been married?”
“Only about two years,” Henry admitted. “But Ricky and I have been a thing since high school. My dad wasn’t too approving of that ‘lifestyle’ so I had to keep it quiet until I moved out.” He shrugged. “He’s gotten better with it, though. Best Grandpa ever and he even goes golfing with Ricky on Sundays.”
“That’s so nice to hear,” Alex said. “I’m glad you guys are happy.”
“Same here,” Ricky said. “Enjoy your reunion.”
“Thanks, Hank. Take care.”
“It was nice meeting you,” Maggie said over her shoulder as she was led away by her wife.
They walked around, sipping their drinks and Alex kept glancing around at the long-forgotten faces in between checking the timer on her phone. Some of them were seated at tables, gathered in the same cliques they’d had over a decade ago. They whispered among themselves, all overdressed and way overconfident. They were the same assholes who had picked on Kara all those years ago.
“Lexie Danvers?”
Alex practically hit the roof at the familiar voice and turned, with wide eyes, as she was approached by a beautiful and very familiar sight: Vicky Donahue. Vicky’s smile was as wide and bright and dimpled as she remembered. Her dark skin practically glowed in the low light and her figure…
Gosh, her figure. Alex felt her heart skip a beat and her face flush, as if she was the same little nerd in high school who used to bury all those feelings she had for her best friend. Vicky looked even better than she remembered. But not—she reminded herself—as good as the woman currently hanging off of Alex’s arm. All she felt for Vicky now was nostalgia; her feelings for Maggie were real.
Still, nostalgia could be a bitch sometimes and Alex found her mouth going dry at the sight of her ex-best friend walking toward them, a woman on her arm following at her heel.
“It’s been way too long!” Vicky said, opening her arms. “How have you been, Lexie?”
“Lexie?” Maggie snorted behind Alex and her wife turned to glare at her.
“Don’t call me that,” she muttered and Vicky laughed.
“I was the only one ever allowed to call her that,” she informed Maggie. “And she still hated it.”
“But you never stopped,” Alex pointed out.
“Of course not,” Vicky said, affectionately. “It was the only way I could ever seem to annoy you.”
Alex rolled her eyes and pulled away, reaching again for her wife’s hand. “How have you been, Vicky?” she asked.
“Pretty good,” Vicky replied. “Got married recently, actually.” She raised her left hand to show the glittering amethyst on her engagement band. Her birthstone, Alex remembered.
“That’s great!” Alex said, genuinely happy for her. “Who’s the lucky guy?”
“That would be me,” the woman who had been standing just behind Vicky stepped up and raised her hand. She was gorgeous, with long red braids and a nose ring in her left nostril. She was a bit heavier than Vicky and just as beautiful. She wrapped one arm around Vicky’s waist and leaned her head on the shorter woman’s shoulder, then offered her hand to Alex. “Ada Lowe.”
Alex’s eyes widened.
“I…uh…you’re…um…are you…I mean…huh?”
“What?” Vicky asked, tilting her head in confusion. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong,” Alex insisted. “It’s just that…well, I had no idea.”
“No idea what?” Vicky asked, still looking confused.
“No idea that you were…uh, that you liked girls. Uh, women.”
Vicky’s eyes widened and then her brows furrowed even deeper as she stared at Alex with a strange expression that the agent tried to identify. She hoped that she hadn’t just insulted the best friend she’d had in high school.
“Um, I’m sorry,” Alex said. “I didn’t mean to…did I say something that—”
“No, no,” Vicky assured her. “It’s just that…didn’t we, like, date for three years in high school?”
At that, even Maggie’s eyebrows flew up and she looked toward her wife with a million questions in her eyes. Alex was pale and very, very confused.
“Um…what?” she asked. “What do you…you thought we were a couple?”
“Well, yeah,” Vicky said. “I mean, we cuddled a lot and we were always holding hands and, jeez, we even shared a twin-sized bed when we had sleepovers at my house.”
“But…we never even kissed!” Alex said. “Or went on dates or—or—or—you really thought we were dating? I didn’t even know I liked girls, let alone you!”
“Seriously?” Vicky asked. “Alex, you have always been the gayest person I ever knew. And I was never in the closet. My parents were totally chill with, like, all sexualities and they made sure I knew it. Hell, my first crush was on Hayley Patterson in the first grade.”
“Yeah, she was kind of cute,” Alex agreed, “but why did we never kiss or say anything about it?”
“I always figured you weren’t ready for that yet,” Vicky said, with a shrug. “And I thought after the first time I asked you to the movies and laid my head on your shoulder…well, it went without saying that we were dating.”
Maggie and Ada watched the conversation like one would a tennis match. Maggie’s smile grew with each sentence until it took up the majority of her face and she couldn’t hold her laughter in any longer. She tried to stifle it, at least, with the heel of her hand.
Alex looked like she was suddenly questioning her entire life. It didn’t help that her wife was practically tipping over in her mirth at her side. Alex glared sideways at her. “By the way,” she said, still slightly in shock, “this is my wife, Maggie.”
“Ha! I knew you were gay,” Vicky said, victoriously. “Also, hi.” She held out her hand and Maggie could barely shake it without snorting.
“Nice to meet you,” she said. “So you and ‘Lexie’ dated?”
“Well, I had thought so,” Vicky retorted. “After all, I always counted her as my first heartbreak.”
“You did?” Alex exclaimed.
“Babe,” Maggie laughed, “for a lesbian, your gaydar is horrible.” Alex glared at her, but Maggie pressed herself against the taller woman’s side and pressed a kiss to her cheek. Alex flushed and muttered something under her breath, but still pecked her wife’s forehead as they continued to talk to what was apparently her first—and only—ex-girlfriend.

When Alex steps away to call her sister -- to see if Kara can take care of Kim tonight -- Maggie finds herself down on one knee, looking into the eyes of a little girl who looks and sounds, excruciatingly, like the woman she...
But she makes herself pay attention. Because Kim apparently has a lot to say.
“And Aunt Sara is from a whole different universe, and they took me there last year. Mommy and Aunt Kara. I met...” Kim turns and looks around and gestures for Maggie to come closer, bringing her pudgy little fingers up to her mouth for increased secrecy. “I met the Flash! And the Green Arrow! I thought the Green Arrow would be scary, but he’s not. He makes much better food than Mommy, only don’t tell her, because Uncle Barry says we should keep it a secret.”
“Well, your Uncle Barry’s a smart man.”
Kim lights up at that. “He’s a cop! Like you! Well, sort of. He’s a science cop,” she explains conspiratorially.
“Well you know what, kiddo?” Maggie waves Kim in close, just like Kim had done to her a moment before. Kim giggles at the sharing of secrets and leans close with wide eyes. “I’m a science cop, too.”
But Alex’s loud exclamation on the phone with Kara a few paces away -- a very noisy objection, a very pointed no, to something or other -- makes Kim and Maggie both turn to look, Kim with curiosity burning on her face and Maggie, with a stir of emotions she hopes don’t show too much.
She watches as Alex turns and lowers her voice, clearly flustered. She wonders what Kara said, and she wonders what Alex had nearly shouted that they weren’t doing; but she doesn’t have to wonder too hard.
Because she remembers everything about Alex’s body. Everything about her body language.
Kara had asked if they were going to sleep together.
And Alex had said no.
She tries not to let her heart sink.
Of course they’re not going to sleep together.
They’re going to catch up, they’re going to... hell, she doesn’t even know what they’re going to do. Doesn’t even know if it’s smart, or healthy, or even possible, to try to rebuild anything after... well, after everything.
“Why haven’t you seen my mom in so long?” Kim’s question jolts Maggie back to their conversation, and nearly topples her balance over.
Maggie tilts her head to the side and regards the child thoughtfully. She bites her lip and remembers the last kiss they shared. The last time she was in her arms. The last time she made her moan her name...
“I moved away, sweetie.”
No matter how many women she’s been with in the last few years, she hasn’t called anyone sweetie since Alex.
The syllables feel foreign rolling off her lips again; and the fact that they’d happened so naturally makes it feel even stranger, even more painful.
“Like Aunt Lucy?”
Maggie chuckles, remembering the night Alex’s eyes had flown wide open with the realization that she’d had a massive crush on Lucy Lane and just hadn’t recognized it as such.
“Yeah, a little like Aunt Lucy.”
She glances over at Alex to see her wrapping up her phone call.
To see Alex standing there, looking at her daughter and her ex-girlfriend, deep in conversation.
To see Alex still wrapped in Maggie’s jacket, hair still sopping from the earlier rain.
To see Alex’s lips form the words ‘I love you,’ and she’s looking at her, but she’s talking to Kara, and Maggie’s heart doesn’t know whether to expand in hope or shrivel in despair.
“Well? Can Aunt Kara watch me tonight?” Kim asks as Alex walks back toward them, distinctly avoiding Maggie’s eyes.
“She says she and Lena would like nothing more, sweet face. I’ll text to make sure she has everything she needs for your thunderstorm fort.”
Kim turns to Maggie gravely. “Aunt Kara doesn’t like thunderstorms,” she tells her, and Maggie nods with a faraway smile on her face.
“Yeah, I remember.” She tries to catch Alex’s eye, and when she does, she knows Alex is remembering the same thing she is: all those nights that Kara would show up in their apartment, soaked and shivering, to curl up between them and take refuge from the storm in the arms of her sisters.
Maggie wonders painfully if she’s lost the sister title forever.
Probably.
“Well,” Maggie sighs as she stands up. “I should... I should run back to the hotel, get out of these clothes. I... uh -- get dry. And maybe we can meet -- “
“Wherever you want.” Panic flits across Alex’s face, and it’s not lost on Maggie that Alex had invited her home, that they’re both backing away from that option now, because too much, too soon. Because... because.
“No, it’s okay, whatever’s easiest for you, Alex, I -- “
“The bar’s too...“
“Yeah.”
A pause that cuts into Maggie’s bloodstream as their eyes lock into each other’s before looking somewhere, anywhere, else.
“So Noonan’s?”
It had always been part of their lives, but more Kara’s spot than theirs, so it was more... neutral. Potentially less agonizing.
“Sure thing. Just... just text me when Kara picks up Kim and I’ll meet you.”
“Right. Yeah. Okay.”
Maggie grimaces a smile at her, and looks down at Kim. “I’m gonna head off, okay kiddo? But maybe I’ll see you later?”
“I’d like that very much, Captain Maggie Sawyer,” Kim smiles brighter than she would have if her wheels weren’t turning so rapidly, and Maggie swallows a smirk of bemusement as she turns back to Alex.
“So -- “
“Yeah.”
Maggie almost steps forward and Alex almost opens her arms for a hug.
Maggie almost leans up on her tip toes and Alex almost tilts her face down.
They both bounce unsteadily on the balls of their feet for a moment before they both blush and breathe out soft chuckles in acknowledgment of the awkwardness, of the maybe yes maybe no, of the years and the weight between them.
“Tonight,” Maggie nods, stepping back, out of hugging range. Out of kissing range. Out of danger range. “My number’s still the same. Do you -- “
“I haven’t forgotten.” Alex’s voice is soft and Maggie thinks for a moment that her eyes might be wet. But she blinks, and when she looks back, she’s sure she was wrong.
“I’ll text you. Noonan’s,” Alex nods, and Kim’s eyes flutter between them both rapidly.
“Wouldn’t miss it,” Maggie manages to choke out before she turns on her heel and heads back to the Baldwin.
She shoves her hands in her pockets to hide her trembling, realizing that her jacket is still wrapped around Alex’s shoulders, and she wonders if that’s the only thing she left with her.

LOVE IS BLIND CHAPTER 13: REUNION EPISODE, PART 1
DAY 390: THE REUNION
“Hi everyone, I’m Vanessa Lachey.”
“And obviously, I’m Nick Lachey.”
“And welcome to the Love is Blind reunion!”
They’re all instructed to clap. Olivia elbows Alex sharply in the ribs, and Alex belatedly puts her hands together and doesn’t roll her eyes.
“I love it!” Vanessa says into the camera. “I wish you could feel the energy in this room!”
Alex blinks. The energy in the room is…very uncomfortable. She’s not sure they want the viewers are home to be able to feel it.
“Now, we have seen all of our contestants fall blindly in love with each other. They’ve connected emotionally and physically. They have made up, they’ve broken up, they’ve made up, and some of them even made it down the aisle.”
“That’s right!” Obviously Nick says, with much less chemistry and excitement than Vanessa. “And we’re here to catch up with the participants, to talk about the results of this blind love experiment, and to learn their reactions to seeing it all play out on screen.”
Alex grimaces. This doesn’t sound fun at all.
“You guys,” Vanessa says, looking around the room. “It’s so fun to see you all again!”
Everyone makes polite sounds. Alex gets another elbow in the ribs, and manages to fake a smile. They’re all sitting on couches arranged in a U shape facing the cameras, just like at every reunion show of every reality show.
“It’s like a family reunion!” Obviously Nick adds. It would be more convincing if Alex couldn’t see his teleprompter.
“And,” Vanessa adds, smiling, “It’s like a true family reunion, that you don’t really want to go to.”
Alex plasters a bland smile on her face as a camera tracks to her. She’s more than aware that she and Maxwell are going to be sharing a split screen for a good chunk of the night. She can’t wait for it to be over.
“Okay,” Vanessa says, clapping her hands together. “Let’s start off with some updates. Raise your hand if you’re currently single.”
Alex looks around at the group.
Maxwell, Whitney, Stephanie, and Duke all raise their hands. Alex blinks, a few times. That’s…messy as fuck.
“Okay,” Obviously Nick says. “Raise your hand if you’re married to your fiancée from Love is Blind.”
Jane, Maura, Olivia, and Matt raise their hands.
“Alex,” a voice hisses in her ear.
“Oh, right,” Alex mutters, laughing. She throws her hand in the air, and everyone else laughs.

I have a bad feeling about this! But look at Sanvers! They are so cute!
I also love the fact that J’onn is part of the family!

Thank you for that last Director Sanvers piece. It might be too much to ask and you do not have too but any chance you could do a part 2 where they reunite. With everything going on I would love a happy ending. You can even add in some angst (Like Alex getting sick and Lucy/Maggie can't see her but gets better of course!) if you need too cuz I know how much the DS fandom likes to hurt each other. If not could we have that reunion when they pick her up after months apart
Thanks! So it didnt show me the full ask at first! I can definitely do the reunion! I'm not too much of an angst writer, I have one or two but I much prefer fluff! Have a couple of other pieces to do first then will do it :)
