As most of you probably know, Italy is the country with the most people infected by Covid-19, best known as Coronavirus, right after China.

My country is struggling, despite the new measures the numbers of infected are increasing and are expected to increase in the next days. Our doctors and nurses are giving everything they have, but we don’t have enough intensive care places in our hospitals.

PLEASE HELP OUR HOSPITALS.

I guess everyone knows by now what the situation is like in Italy. COVID-19 is spreading really fast, as of today the number of infected people has surpassed 15000 and it just keeps growing every day at an alarming rate. We are trying everything in our power to contain it, but our best isn’t enough right now. Italy is on total lockdown, people can leave their houses only to go grocery shopping, to go to work and for health emergencies, but it’s very much possible that in the near future we’ll assist to even more restrictive measures. I would think that this was enough to make other countries understand the severity of the situation, but I keep seeing people belittle the virus and its consequences. People who are being hospitalized are of all ages. It’s not only about the elderly, it’s about every single one of us. Hospitals here in Italy can’t take this anymore, ICUs are at capacity, especially in those regions where the virus started spreading first like Lombardia and Veneto. We’re running out of breathing machines, infusion pumps, monitors and a lot of other medical supplies, and of PPE, testing kits and beds. Doctors are now starting to be obliged to choose who they want to save, which life is more important. It’s devastating to see it happen, it’s tough and extremely scary. I think we all deserve a chance to be helped, cured and saved. All the doctors and nurses, the entire medical staff, who are working non stop 24/7 are exhausted and on the verge of collapse, as the hospitals are. We’ve been trying to find more structures where we can treat COVID-19 patients because actual hospitals are full and there are no more beds. Our hospitals need help. I know Italy’s not the only country who’s in need right now, but please if you can, consider donating to the medical structures in order to give them all a chance to get new beds and machines and more medical supplies that could save many lives. A lot of gofundme have been started recently to support these hospitals, so I will link down below some of them and I will update with more as I find them. The first link refers to donations to the Italian Red Cross. You’re free to add more if you want. The least I can do right now is share this with you all. Please please please, reblog to signal boost this.  And lastly, I beg you to resort to reliable and official sources to get info about COVID-19, and in this delicate time avoid big crowds and stay at home as much as possible, not only to protect yourself, but also to protect your family and friends and all the people around you. It’s important to be informed and spread awareness if we want to fight this. Stay safe.
