The Laney Summer Institute celebrates having enrolled more than 120 high school students into a wide range of CTE programs. From courses in #architecture, #BioManufacturing #carpentry, #cosmetology, and #CIS to #culinary, #GraphicArts, #photography and #WoodTechnology high school students from throughout the Bay Area are experiencing excellent hands-on career and technical training. More than 30 more high school students will join us starting next week for courses in the electricity / #electronics technology programs. Check out the pictures of our iDesign students and the projects they completed in two days. Bob Bell and Mike, in collaboration with the Fablab, have taught these students, some of whom have had no wood shop experience, how to safely use hand and power tools and explore carpentry career pathways. iDesign students are looking forward to training in #welding, machine technology, and wood technology over the next three weeks. I hope to highlight a different program each week over the next five weeks of the summer semester.
