The CBFC permits 'Ghapa Ghap' in Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju but CENSORS the slang in Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Neha Sharma's Jogira. Sara Ra Ra's

The 2018 blockbuster Sanju, starring Ranbir Kapoor, made the words ‘Ghapa Ghap’ famous. In the Sanjay Dutt biopic, Vicky Kaushal’s character utters the phrase and it was slang for sex. It was allowed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and cleared the film with a U/A certificate. Five years later, the CBFC, however, asked ‘Ghapa Ghap’ to be censored from an upcoming film, Jogira Sara Ra Ra.

Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Neha Sharma, Jogira Sara Ra Ra has been passed with a U/A certificate and 7 cuts. After the changes were carried out, the makers Jogira Sara Ra Ra were handed over the censor certificate on May 8. The length of the film, as mentioned on the certificate, is 121 minutes. In other words, this romantic comic caper is 2 hours and 1 minute long.

Remembering Nargis Dutt on her 37th death anniversary. (03/05) Nargis Dutt (1 June 1929 – 3 May 1981), born Fatima Rashid but known by her screen name, Nargis, was a film actress. Regarded as one of the greatest actresses in the history of Hindi cinema, she made her screen debut as a child in Talash-E-Haq in 1935, but her acting career began in 1942 with Tamanna (1942). During a career that spanned from the 1940s to the 1960s, Nargis appeared in numerous commercially successful as well as critically appreciated films, many of which featured her alongside actor Raj Kapoor. One of her best-known roles was that of Radha in the Academy Award-nominated Mother India (1957), a performance that won her Best Actress trophy at the Filmfare Awards. In 1958, Nargis married her Mother India co-star, actor Sunil Dutt, and left the film industry. She would appear infrequently in films during the 1960s. Some of her films of this period include the drama Raat Aur Din (1967), for which she was given the inaugural National Film Award for Best Actress. Along with her husband, Nargis formed the Ajanta Arts Cultural Troupe, which roped in several leading actors and singers of the time and held stage shows at border areas. In the early 1970s, she became the first patron of Spastics Society of India, and her subsequent work with the organization brought her recognition as a social worker, and later a Rajya Sabha nomination in 1980. Nargis died in 1981 of pancreatic cancer, a few days before her son Sanjay Dutt made his debut in Hindi films. In 1982, the Nargis Dutt Memorial Cancer Foundation was established in her memory. ★ The Past Blast: Bharat's journey from Priyanka Chopra to Kareena Kapoor, Kabir Khan to Rajkumar Santoshi!

Did you know? Salman Khan and his team had approached Rajkumar Hirani, Kabir Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi before Ali Abbas Zafar came on board Bharat. Details June 7, 2021 

Salman Khan’s third collaboration with Ali Abbas Zafar, Bharat, recently completed 2 years of it’s release and the fans celebrated the day on twitter. While the film didn’t collect as much as the duo’s previous two collaborations, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai, it raked in near about Rs 200 crore at the domestic box-office. While the audience got to see the film with Ali as the director and Katrina as the female lead, a lot happened behind the scenes before this cast and set up was locked.

Salman along with his brother-in-law, Atul Agnihotri were planning to remake the Korean drama, An Ode To My Father since 2015 and right after they bagged the remake rights, they approached Rajkumar Hirani to come on board the film. The duo felt that Raju will do complete justice to the subject as it falls right in his zone of being a social drama laced with humor. They had multiple meetings with Hirani, however, the filmmaker back then was busy with the Sanjay Dutt biopic with Ranbir Kapoor.

He conveyed it to Khan and the team that he wouldn’t pick up on his next until the release of Sanju. The filmmaker said that the earliest that he could start work on Bharat will be from 2020, and given the fact that 2020 was far away, the makers decided to move on after taking some inputs from Raju Hirani on the script. From Hirani, they went to Kabir Khan, who had just worked with Salman successfully on Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Kabir was all excited by the idea of the original and had even started work to develop his adaptation of An Ode To My Father. However, after the not so good experience of Tubelight, Salman and Kabir were reportedly not on good terms and eventually the association fell off.  From Kabir Khan, they moved on to Rajkumar Santoshi, as Salman felt that the ace filmmaker has the knack of capturing a partition drama like no one else.  The filmmaker tried to develop his adaption; however, things didn’t fall in place as he wasn’t able to Indianize the Korean original.

Salman and Atul were clear on bring out the best possible adaptation of An Ode To My Father, considering that the plot had sky high potential. After these 3, Salman spoke to his Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai director, Ali Abbas Zafar, who was floored by the idea of getting the chance to narrate the journey of a man and nation together and began the work on his adaptation. He retained the essence of the original film, and brought in the heroics too, to blend the aura of Salman in the tale. The writer – director had two climaxes of Bharat with him – one where the father doesn’t return (present version) and one where the father returns back after 60 years.

After contemplating on both the climaxes, they finally went ahead with the version where father does not return. According to insiders, Salman was keen on having an happy ending, wherein the father returns thereby giving closure to the tale of Bharat, however eventually they all settled on the climax of father not returning, going ahead with an approach similar to the Korean classic. Moving on from the director hunt, the first choice to play the female lead was Priyanka Chopra, who stepped back due to her wedding with Nick. After PC, Salman, Ali and Atul wanted to bring Kareena Kapoor in the film, however, the actress cited date issues and eventually, it was Katrina Kaif who bagged the part.

As they say, it was quite a long journey for Bharat to make it to the spectacle

Bollywood Movies Part CLXXV

Housewife Madhura Sane (Madhuri Dixit) decides to complete her heart donor Sai’s bucket list, even though it leads to trouble with her family.

Bucket List is a cute journey of self discovery. It does exactly what it says on the tin, and it was a fun watch. Madhuri Dixit shines in her first Marathi film. Sumedh Mudgalkar is fantastic as Salil, Sai’s brother who feels Madhura is inserting herself in his grief. Favorite song is Houn Jau Dya (no subtitles).

Four friends reunite to prepare for a weding. Kalindi (Kareena Kapoor Khan) has misgivings about marrying her long term boyfriend Rishabh (Sumeet Vyas). Divorce lawyer Avni (Sonam K Ahuja) wants to get married and have children. Sakshi (Swara Bhaskar) is separated from her husband who is blackmailing her. Meera (Shikha Talsania) is estranged from her family for marrying John (Edward Sonnenblick). 

Veere Di Wedding is an entertaining movie about four women and their friendship. The actors portray their characters wonderfully, and the friendship definitely feels real. Kalindi’s family problems feel hastily explained and resolved, but I did enjoy Vivek Mushran as her uncle Kuki and Sukesh Arora as his partner Keshav. Favorite songs are Laaj Sharam, Veere, and Bhangra Ta Sajda. None of the songs have subtitles.

Sanjay Dutt (Ranbir Kapoor) tells biographer Winnie Dias (Anushka Sharma) about his relationship with his father Sunil Dutt (Paresh Rawal), the death of his mother Nadira (Manisha Koirala) from cancer before the release of his first film, his drug addiction, and the circumstances leading to him being linked to the 1993 Bombay Bombings. 

Sanju is a biopic about Sanjay Dutt that feels a bit like propaganda. The movie is accurate when dealing with dealing with the more outlandish things that Sanjay Dutt has done, but also veers away from things that would make Dutt look really bad, like abandoning his first wife Richa Sharma while she was dying of cancer. Sanjay’s relationship with Sunil is really well done, but the film just keeps hitting you in the face with its “BAD MEDIA” message. Additionally, the film runs too long. Vicky Kaushal does a good job as Kamlesh “Kamli” Kapasi, but the film is really Ranbir Kapoor’s show. Favorite songs are Ruby Ruby and Kar Har Maidaan Fateh.
