210503 My favorite moments & translations of the SHL concert including the warming up livestream
1. Zhao Jing calling fans adopted sons and daughters during the livestream and revealing that there will be a game where they hug each other, telling fans to look forward to it (he knows what we want to see haha).
2. Gong Jun arrived at the livestream first, but he still waited for Zhang Zhehan and told Zhang Zhehan to introduce himself first.
3. Zhang Zhehan saying he will talk less as he needs to take care of his throat for the actual concert, so Gong Jun talked mostly in the livestream (translation is here).
4. In the beginning of the concert, ZZH introduced himself: "I'm your Ah Xu." (T ^ T)
5. The MCs asked the casts to write down their top 1 iconic scene, some of them picked the scene where Gao Chong died. GJ & ZZH were having a discussion and the MCs were like "why do these two have to discuss their top 1 scene?" (yeah, you just need to write your own fave scene, it's not pair work LMAO) ZZH picked "you're not worthy" scene where they had to fight against Ye Bai Yi, and GJ picked the sun basking scene where they called each other 'Lao Wen', 'Ah Xu' 3 times. ZZH said: thanks to Gao dage's iconic scene, they got to rest haha.
6. Gao Chong, Zhao Jing & Shen Sheng sitting behind GJ & ZZH wrote "Lao Wen ♡ Lao Zhou" on their whiteboards, they were laughing so much while holding it up.
7. When they played the sun basking scene, the MCs asked GJ "you were pretty focused when watching the scene." GJ replied, "it reminded me of the time when we were filming, it felt so warm just like now, I'm being surrounded with love."
8. MCs said that ZZH added the part where calling Lao Wen's name 3 times. ZZH said: "yes I even asked GJ to call Ah Xu 3 times, I like the number 3 and calling the names 3 times shows 3 different emotions". When MCs asked them to reenact the scene, I heard CWN saying he wants to see it. (I hope I didn't mishear it lol and the MCs were smiling so much while watching them)
9. After ZZH finished singing Gu Meng (T ^ T), the fans were all screaming 'lao po'. XDDD
10. At the beginning of the game segment, when the rules came up on the screen. Fans were screaming loudly and ZZH said: "did you guys even read/ understand it to be screaming like that?" And one of the MCs said: "shouldn't that be Ye Bai Yi's job to diss people?" (The MCs definitely did a lot of prep before the concert haha XD and that is the hugging game Zhao Jing talked about in the livestream)
11. GJ & ZZH were laughing hehehehe when they found out they got the same number.
12. The MCs had to say a number, they have to find enough people to make that number. At one point Ye Bai Yi was with 3 actresses, and ZZH said: "Ye Bai Yi you're a guy and you're hugging 3 girls??? I didn't expect you to be like this." (AHAHAHAHA)
13. I missed out on what happened with CWN & GX, but it seems that they wanted to get eliminated together. (T ^ T)
14. So at the end, ZZH and Cheng Ling won the game and GJ was like: "the person who won the game will sing until tomorrow's concert." (LOL)
15. GJ said: "I feel like you guys planned it out to make me lose the game." (ZZH called 'Lao Wen' 3 times here ahhhh GJ kinda just gave up lol) "Am I right, didi?" Cheng Ling replied yes. ZZH asked GJ to dance as a punishment but GJ forced ZZH to dance and ZZH was like why do I have to do it when I won the game?? Then ZZH sang and GJ danced to 爱的恰恰 (so cute I cry) GJ couldn't do the dance properly, he explained: "I need to save my energy, I have to sing later."
16. When they were picking the winners for the prizes, GJ said: "it's so unfair to the bottom floor, they haven't won anything." ZZH then jokingly added: "the people on the bottom floor, they're super fast at getting the tickets and they're pretty rich too." (because the tickets are more expensive) GJ jokingly followed: "then let's pick someone from level 3, haha I actually did pick out level 3 (from the bag)."
17. Another game, the MCs asked them to say something fierce to the other team, GJ was facing his teammates and kept saying (I can't remember what he said) really loudly. And ZZH was like did you not understand (the instructions) why are you shouting at your teammates? (AHAHAHAHAHA come on I don't think he would say anything fierce to his lao po XD)
18. I can't remember what happened but Ye Bai Yi shouted: "卧槽 (fuck)" during the game segment. (really loudly!!! and I haven't heard any Chinese actors/ celebrities say that in public lmao)
19. GJ couldn't find all the nails on ZZH and asked: "where did you guys hide it?" Ye Bai Yi lifts up ZZH's clothes and said: "here". GJ said:" I can't reach there, they won't be able to broadcast it." (asdfghjklfuuuuu)
20. When they reenacted the "you're not worthy" scene and still bickering like 3-year-olds XDDD
21. When Cao Wei Ning & Ah Xiang were singing Yuan Mie, Ah Xiang got so emotional she cried and messed up, so Cao Wei Ning sang her lines and held her hand really tightly. (I CRIEDDDD)
22. Afterwards, ZZH & GJ walked out with Cheng Ling (then everyone came out too). GJ forgot to bring the red bracelets and ZZH was like "where are the red bracelets? Lao Wen did you give it to someone else?" (AHAHAHAHA)
23. When they had to put the red bracelets on each other's wrists, CWN's hands were shaking so much, you can literally feel how nervous he is through the screen. (sobs) CWN called Ah Xiang "Cao furen (my wife)" and GX called Cao dage "my husband". (T ^ T)
24. When Xi Sang Gui came into the centre, she said: "Ah Xing (WKX) when will it be your wedding?" GJ just smiled and side-eyed ZZH. XDD
25. GJ said that SHL means a lot to him, it's a special, irreplaceable drama to him. I think he also thanked ZZH. ZZH said: "thank you shanrens who're here and watching in front of the screen for giving us the chance to dream and made our dream come true. (no, thank YOU for bringing Ah Xu into our lives T ^ T)
26. Picking winners again and CWN was trying so hard to find the bottom/ centre area card. (so cute)
27. ZZH & GJ singing Tian Wen, ZZH got confused at the start and GJ helped him to get back into the right key, they both laughed and it was just so cuteeeee. And GJ said: "everyone together" which made ZZH laugh cuz you don't usually say that during a slow song lmao.
28. Liu Qianqiao presented 嗑 upside down which is phonetically “嗑到了/ kdl” and it means my ship (cp) is sailing.

Fandom Rambling (04/30/2022)
I watched Vincenzo in December 2021. I watched The Untamed in March of 2022. I watched Word of Honor this month (April 2022). These three seem to be the ones I've been thinking about the most lately. It really shows on my blog. 🤣 Especially with Word of Honor.
Tumblr media
With Vincenzo, I can't stop thinking about Jang Han-seo. His ending still bothers me. Like, after all the hell he had to endure, they went and did THAT to him. HE DESERVED BETTER, DAMN IT!! 😡Ok Taecyeon portrayed the villain so well, so major kudos to him for that. I still can’t stand nor forgive Jang han-seok, though. I’m still not over the heartbreak of Vincenzo losing his mom after reuniting with her. 😭
Tumblr media
With The Untamed, I can't stop thinking about Xue Yang. His betrayal to Xiao Xing Chen. This man also has me conflicted because of his backstory. As tragic as his backstory is, he could have chosen a different path. Instead, he’s a villain. I love the plot twist of Nie Huai Sang being the mastermind behind the downfall of Jin Guangyao. I admit I cried at his downfall, only because of how devastated Lan Xichen was. It broke my heart to see him like that. That scene where Lan Zhan showed up with Empire’s Smile melted my heart. He remembered and decided to break the rules and bring the drink to Wei Wuxian. Also, that habit Wei Wuxian has, where he touches his nose is absolutely adorable to me.
Tumblr media
With Word of Honor, it’s the way Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing had me crying so much, that I ended up with several migraines. 😫 Their relationship had me becoming an emotional mess through out the entire series. Another thing I think about a lot is the fact that I have conflicted feelings towards Scorpion King. That man was a villain all because he wanted the love and approval that he craved from Zhao Jing. Also, it broke my heart the way Cao Weining was betrayed by his master like that. It was another one of those moments where a character sought approval from another character, only to be betrayed or hurt in the end. 🥺 I don’t know how to explain it, but I have a soft spot for Ye Baiyi. He seems grumpy and snarky, but I love that about him. 🤣

Hi! Is it okay to ask you for a small advice? I started reading Thousand Autumns recently (currently on chapters ~85-88) and I'm having a bit of a problem with Yan Wushi's character. I am so turned off by his behavior towards SQ for the whole novel up to this point and I just wonder - is it gonna get better...? I can't stand seeing him openly abusing SQ and treating him like shit, I'm sorry (1)
I know he's evil and it's expected of him to be bad but with future romance prospect I'm really struggling to like the relationship between him and SQ; and if in the first half of the novel I didn't expect big changes, now I keep hoping to see something different from him but I'm not seeing much. He keeps treating SQ horribly. I'm not sure if I can forgive him for what he's done and has no remorse whatsoever - (2)
- abusing SQ and manipulating him, using him as an experiment as if he's a toy to play with; selling him to a r*pist knowing he'll be tortured to death...! And after everything that happend I still barely see anything good in his attitude towards SQ. I can't help but think SQ deserves so much better. I suppose I should try to have some hope for the upcoming chapters to be better? Is it worth it to continue reading or nothing will change? Excuse me for writing so much, Thank you
---
Heya! Oooof okay so you’re totally valid, Yan Wushi isn’t like a character for everyone - so let me break it down with the first part and then the second part where his attitude turns for the better XD
Spoilers under the cut
Before SQ goes to save him:
Yan Wushi does have a goal which is to play mind games with Shen Qiao and (1) throw him into despair (2) try to see if Shen Qiao is a worthy opponent - sure, he’s an asshole with an agenda of his own. YWS doesn’t believe that there is any good in anyone - he thinks Shen Qiao is a hypocrite and that everyone will turn evil given the right circumstances, and so YWS doesn’t trust anyone, or even considers anyone as an equal to him.
He wants to see Shen Qiao become evil basically and does everything he can to direct him towards that but I’d say his actions (with two exceptions) fit his character and the two motives above pretty well and I’m not sure I’d count it as abuse (based on my understanding of abuse, feel free to disagree). I think it’s easy to forget that Shen Qiao is not delusional or naive or ‘innocent’, and he does not paint YWS as some saviour or a friend (at least in the beginning) - he knows who YWS is, knows that he’s insane, not compassionate, totally evil etc. even from the start the moment he realizes that YWS and his disciple lied to him.
1. He lies to Shen Qiao that he’s his shizun, and then sends him to kill someone, but he’s not there to enforce it
2. Throws him out on the streets without his memories, but Shen Qiao is anything but a weak youngling, once again, YWS doesn’t do anything to him
3. YWS turns up at the temple and has Shen Qiao read the scripture - SQ’s not sure what’s going on at first but he more or less figures it out, but also the scripture reading inadvertently helps to heal him (and YWS knows this)
4. YWS flirts with Shen Qiao for a reaction for a while, he’s not genuine of course, but Shen Qiao knows he’s not genuine
5. YWS doesn’t help Shen Qiao out when he’s faced with an opponent while he’s still injured just to see how long Shen Qiao can hold out for - but firstly, Shen Qiao never really expected him to help in the first place, because he has no delusions about the man - and YWS ends up helping anyway, of course not out of the kindness of his heart, but I don’t see why I should hold that against him XD
6. Stands by and watches as Shen Qiao and his shidi Yu Ai have their confrontation - Sure, he’s there to watch the drama, but it’s Shen Qiao who makes the decision to go with him - the lesser of two evils
7. Forces Shen Qiao to fight him while he’s still injured because he wants to see if Shen Qiao’s recovery level has reached a certain point, enough to be an adversary worth dealing with - yes, he’s forcing Shen Qiao to fight when he’s still blind and weak, but throughout the fight you realize that YWS is right - it’s that very battle that basically lets SQ recover his previous abilities by a bit. He’s not hurting SQ for the fun of it (out of sadism or shit) - he purely (or evil-ly) wants to know if SQ is every bit of the skilled warrior he’s heard about
The exceptions are these: (1) When he plants the demonic seed thing in his heart (2) When he trades SQ to Sang Jing Xing for his sword, knowing full well that SJX has a habit of sexually torturing his prisoners - I feel like YWS was almost warming up to SQ when his habit of distrust and everything kicked in and he reverted back to his cynical self - Not an excuse for what he did though, because yes Shen Qiao especially didn’t want the demonic seed thing firstly (and YWS knows this), and then he despaired at being left to SJX. This is the incident that has SQ basically give up on YWS and allows him to erase any notion of him ever becoming friends with YWS. I’m also rather curious how exactly SQ kind of like got over this - but in the settings of the book, I guess it’s explained away with (1) SQ actually fully recovering as a result of this incident (2) SQ has a big heart, and forgives YWS after - but whether or not that’s convincing, that’s up to every reader.
After SQ goes to save him:
1. So after the SJX incident - where he chose to self-destruct and die, taking SJX along with him but ended up surviving and being able to cultivate properly again from the start (previously he couldn’t because he could only recover to a certain extent as there was some blockage etc., but the blast in this incident clears the blockage) - and after he’s sort of recovered like 50-75%, he hears of an ambush on YWS by the leaders of like 5 other sects, and decides to go forward to save him
2. Not because he harbours any like delusions on YWS, but to show him that despite all YWS has done to him (especially with SJX), SQ is still SQ, and he still adheres to his own principles, that YWS did not make him change his mind about being good basically
3. YWS’s views of him starts to change because of this - YWS has never found someone with this much grit to stick to his own principles etc., to still be kind and righteous basically despite being betrayed again and again. Of course this does not excuse the fact that YWS did indeed deliberately leave him to a potentially painful death with SJX - and SQ doesn’t forget either.
4. SQ saves YWS, and then his heart melts because while YWS is recovering from the ambush, he has two other personalities that show up - so YWS when he was much younger, then YWS when he was a teenager, and YWS now. So YWS as a kid and teen are more trusting and open, and SQ likes kid YWS a lot (like as kid brother), and now-YWS wakes up occasionally from the switch in personas, he realizes that SQ likes kid-YWS and starts thinking about why SQ hates him and likes his kid self.
5. Even then, YWS still does try to jump ship once and leave SQ and other evil people behind in a dangerous cave, but thankfully teen/kid-YWS personas fight to turn up in time, and then YWS goes back for SQ
6. SQ knows this - he doesn’t think YWS has had a sudden change of heart or shit, and knows full well that if it was now-YWS, if kid-YWS didn’t turn up, he would probably be left to think about how to leave the cave on his own
7. YWS’s behaviour towards SQ does a 180 - now that he knows he cannot sway SQ, he starts to listen to SQ, and despite all the barbs on the surface, even if he disagrees with SQ’s positive outlook, he makes an effort to contribute and consider SQ’s opinion even if he doesn’t, intrinsically, believe in it. Starts putting himself in front of SQ, and of course SQ doesn’t believe this all the way to the end, where he realizes that he actually, just that tiny little bit, has started liking YWS and doesn’t want him to die.
8. Then they confirm their relationship in the extras, and YWS does do that hot-and-cold thing once so SQ figures out his feelings for him properly - It’s SQ that initiates the confirmation at the end I think
---
I think at some level, YWS cannot stand how naive Shen Qiao is, and some of the things that he’s leading Shen Qiao to think about/discover are valid - And throughout the book it’s proven true - SQ is kind to Chen Jing, but Chen Jing sells him out (not just once but thrice). He’s kind to and has always doted on Yu Ai, but Yu Ai sells him out too. The elders in his sect - some of them obviously turned to Yu Ai over him despite SQ never having given them reason to doubt him. I don’t think YWS is being deliberately cruel (or abusive) - he’s forcing SQ to look at reality, a reality that YWS sees and lives in.
He always asks Shen Qiao why he trusts others so easily, and afterwards, Shen Qiao does admit that YWS is right in this aspect - he won’t give up his ideals and how he gives everyone the benefit of the doubt, but through YWS, he realizes he needs to be able to think ahead to protect himself and the ppl around him.
Doesn’t excuse the SJX thing YWS did, and I’m sure SQ doesn’t conveniently forget about that either, but in terms of how/why they got together, I guess it’s because despite everything they do know each other best, and are soulmates (tho not only in the sugar-spice-and-everything-nice way i.e. SQ does think YWS is handsome and YWS thinks SQ is the cutest thing ever later). SQ has seen the worst of YWS, and YWS has seen the worst of him - and SQ is made to realize that what he was before was not the best path he could go on because of YWS, but he adjusts his attitude slightly and holds on to his ideals sufficiently.
On the other hand, YWS still does not believe everyone except his Ah Qiao can truly say they’re good and keep to it in every way, still thinks the worst of a lot of people if not all, but he stops to consider SQ’s POV and input now, whose opinions and every action now mean more to him than anything else ever will. Of course he has to prove himself and earn SQ’s trust back, but I guess he also doesn’t expect SQ to reciprocate, even after he developed feelings for SQ, knowing full well that he’s a mofo and SQ has every right to hate him after all he did.
They don’t fix each other, they’re not each other’s salvations, but they fit and come sort of to a truce, despite having differing views and principles.
Manipulation? Sure, but I think we forget that Shen Qiao is not a victim (except the part where he’s given to SJX) and his agency in every situation is apparent - He’s pretty clear-minded, he knows what Yan Wushi is doing, knows what his character is like, knows that he’s doing/saying things all to get a reaction out of him. He doesn’t expect YWS to help him either, because he knows YWS is here for fun and games. He doesn’t go along with YWS just because, either. He just made a wrong call by trusting that YWS reciprocated his feelings of friendship (not that it’s his fault at all), but that is certainly a moment of weakness he probably regrets.
---
In summary, I personally wasn’t all that put off by YWS’s behaviour, altho I agree the SJX incident is pretty much unforgivable. For me I read this more from the SQ perspective, because his strength shines in every moment and interaction with YWS and overshadows YWS by a lot, which is why the end makes sense to me.
In response to your question - yes YWS does get better when he’s finally totally convinced that SQ is not a hypocrite (although yeah it takes him a while to get there). And for me it’s nice to see Shen Qiao figure out himself, and also his feelings for YWS after, but also never once compromising himself for YWS.
But YWS is definitely less palatable than most other characters in danmei, so it’s natural if you dislike him and remain unconvinced! It happens XD If you hate this, I suggest you try Wu Shuang! Set in the same universe and timeline, and actually doesn’t have much angst - full on bantering between the main CP, constant veiled insults etc.

谢谢你听过我唱过的这些歌 / Xie Xie Ni Ting Guo Wo Chang Guo De Zhe Xie Ge (40 OST compilation by Zhou Shen), 晚安,明天见 / Good Night, See You Tomorrow online concert on TME Live
Zhou Shen: Every time I perform, many people ask, “Zhou Shen, why do you always sing other people’s songs?” One reason I’m afraid to sing my own songs when I’m onstage is that people might not have heard it before, and that I’d be wasting their time listening to me sing. That’s why on most occasions, whether it’s a performance or in a show, I usually pick songs people are more familiar with to perform. So this is a very brave attempt from me, to have people listen to nothing but my songs on such a massive streaming platform – frankly I’m very afraid that midway through, people will go, “oh, I’ve not heard this before, how boring” and then leave. This thought has always been there: if one day I sing only my own songs onstage, will anyone listen? […] I’m really grateful to have this chance to thank all the movies and shows for their trust, which gave me so many chances and let me meet all my fans and the people who like listening to me sing. That’s why I made all the OSTs I’ve sung over the years into one song, and titled it “Thank you for these songs you heard me sing”. Hopefully, you’ll have heard at least one of them, or maybe it’ll remind you – oh, I think I’ve heard this song before, and the one who sang it is Zhou Shen. I hope you’ll like this song, and listen to the end of it.

Do you know ''The parting of the orchid and the demon king'' novel? There will be a drama in 2022. Poeple are excited about it. Are you?
I have never heard of this title until this ask so I had this hilarious imagine of a demon florist annoyed he has to sell out his stock.
Anyway.
I looked it up and realized it’s the novel Cang Lan Jue is based on and...
Umm.
Sort of.
I mean, the premise has my name on it and I was excited about it when Chen Xing Xu was rumored to be the male lead. But then they went and got Dylan Wang as the ML instead.
Now, don’t get me wrong! I like Dylan just fine. He’s a good looking guy with a warm vibe and great chemistry with his leading ladies.
BUT notice the “warm vibe” comment. Unless I am mistaken, the ML of CLJ is supposed to be a ruthless evil SOB until he is overcome by love. I can imagine few actors less suited for this type of role than Dylan.
I have no idea idea why on earth he keeps getting cast as violent ruthless SOBs over and over when to me his vibe is so utterly wrong for this. They cast him as Dao Ming Si in Meteor Garden and even as much sanded-down, bridge playing version of the character, he was ill suited to play one of the most famous psychos of shoujo manga.
And then they followed it up by picking him as Chen Feiyu’s replacement in the second season of Ever Night. His shippy scenes with Ireine Song were perfection (after all, that is his strength) but he was totally totally wrong for Ning Que who killed his first person with a meat cleaver at four, was a rough son of peasants and made his living by slaughtering bandits for bounty when barely in his teens. NQ is the consummate cold killer with Sang Sang his sole soft spot. CFY had that vibe in spades (there is a reason he’s going to be Moran in the upcoming 2ha adaptation) but Dylan came across as a supreme nice guy with a wrong reputation.
And now the track continues with him playing a literal demon king. I honestly don’t get it. Why they don’t cast him as a usual noble wuxia protagonist or period guy (think a smarter Guo Jing or maybe a hero similar to one in Mirror Twin Cities, Court Lady or a bunch of other upcoming dramas I can think of) instead is beyond me.
Like - Chen Xing Xu would have been a great choice. Or Zhang Bin Bin. Or Darren Wang. Or another half a dozen actors I can name. Why pick someone with one of the loveliest warmest vibes to continually play cold bastards?! Does not compute.
Mind you, I do plan to check it out. I am a sucker for xianxia romance and they could change the vibe of the story to fit him which would be great. Or he can actually surprise me and pull it off - I mean I was so sure Zhang Zhehan was a less perfect looking Alan Yu clone aka stone faced and he’s owning me so hard and I am eating so much crow in WoH so anything is possible.
But it’s not one of my most anticipated, no.
Btw the reason I didn’t mention the female lead is because I think she looks gorgeous but I haven’t seen her in anything so I have no opinion on her.
I conclude by begging Dylan fans not to come after me with pitchforks. I do love the guy, I just think he keeps getting miscast against his actual sizeable strengths.

Review of You Are My Hero 你是我的城池营垒
I just completed it so I'll give my full review of it.
I'll just say it straight that I highly recommend it with most of the reason being the chemistry between the actors is amazing and I really enjoyed it.
Music
I really enjoy the music, it's definitely not as extensive as some of the dramas I know like Go Go Squid 2 but the 5 songs that are featured feels sufficient to me.
Plot
The plot itself is not bad for me. In summary is that a trainee doctor and swat team leader met during a robbery/hostage situation, 2 years later they meet again as the trainee is getting her certificate for emergency rescue(?) in a training camp, located in that swat team leader's base. Things happen with their relationship and career as the story goes on.
I do see a lot of effort put in to make this plot work, when you watch the behind the scenes, the director is very proactive, and all the actors went to respective places like hospitals and swat bases to learn more about their roles.
Relationships/Acting
I'll start off with that I did not know what to expect when I saw this drama, I had little idea on who the actors are etc.
1. Xing Ke Lei/Mi Ka
Bai Jing Ting and Ma Si Chun are the actors for this pair. Their chemistry as actors are really amazing, they really make me ship this pair a lot. Just look at the behind the scenes and they shine in their acting. The story for this couple also is not too cringy, like realistic for a couple that have important careers. Don't expect too much kiss scenes but there is one that I really like (the on where they were lying face each other on the sofa).
2. Shu Wen Bo/Ruan Qing Xia
Chen Hao and Jiang Pei Yao are the actors for this pair. Honestly, I do not like this pair just because I felt that Shu Wen Bo is very wishy-washy about his feelings. I know that they want to portray him as liking her but feels that Xiao Xia deserves Lu Feng more but I think it's like super obvious that Xiao Xia has no interest in Lu Feng so when he keeps pushing I felt that he is just not interested.
I do like how when they got together, Shu Wen Bo has questions to ask Xing Ke Lei and Mi Ka because of how innocent(?) he is in a relationship.
3. Shao Yu Han/Xing Ke Yao
Wayne Wang and Zhang Yao are the actors for this pair. Fun fact: Zhang Yao sang one of the OSTs. This is another pair that I really like because the scriptwriter + acting really shows that they were a pair but separated with things in life (career/family business) but still have feelings for each other, and are very mature/level-headed with their feelings. You can see that when they 'got back together' is not really explicitly said when they did on screen, is really feels like they have a mutual understanding of each other's feelings.
4. Xing Ke Yao/Xing Ke Lei
I usually do not mention sibling relationships but their acting as siblings here is amazing. You can see that Xing Ke Lei listens to Xing Ke Yao, with her acting very well as the older sister being strict on a younger brother feel. It's during Episode 14 (I think) when she asked him to fetch her and you can see how Xing Ke Lei is like unwillingish but listens to her etc.
5. Other mentions
The plot for Xu Yan Shan who is Mi Ka's friend who got jealous of her because she likes Shao Yu Han is one that I actually like a lot. Firstly, to a third party/someone who does not know of Shao Yu Han's past or his character, I would also honestly think that he likes Mi Ka because it does seem like he treats her differently. Like he asked Mi Ka to be added, going to the food shop with her, inviting her to the gathering of old friends etc. So yes he does treat Mi Ka differently but not because he likes her but because he sees more potential in Mi Ka than Xu Yan Shan in becoming a good doctor, which he actually did tell Xu Yan Shan in the end (when her deed got exposed), and he did not say like I don't like you explicitly/I like Xing Ke Yao. As a mentor/senior, he corrected Xu Yan Shan's assumption, gave her reasons for his actions, rejected her in a professional manner without mentioning that he likes someone/you are not for me etc. This part for me is the most commendable because it is extremely professional given the setting and shows the maturity of a senior.
Things I Don't Like/Meh About
1. Shu Wen Bo/Ruan Qing Xia
I'll just put it here to reiterate it.
2. Flashbacks
There has been like 3 flashbacks for the whole drama so that they think of the moments that they have been together. And it's not like a short 3 sec kind is like 2 mins each which I feel is unnecessary.
3. Ending
This might just be me who waited 4 days for the last 2 episodes to be released (if you didn't know for some reason in China when it should be 8 episodes a week which makes it 5 weeks and should end on 11 Apr, they released 38 episodes in 4 weeks and 2 episodes on 8 Apr), and thus kept rewatching it. I felt that the ending was too bland, like not as romantic/sweet as I hoped the ending would be. Maybe I would change my mind once I rewatch it as a whole again but yeah for now anticlimactic.

Phragmites Combination, Wei Jing Tang (葦經湯) or Qian Jin Wei Jing Tang (千金葦經湯), is an important formula that is used to treat lung welling-abscesses (fei yong 肺癰).
Lung welling-abscesses occur when externally contracted wind evils and toxic heat foment and obstruct the lung. The constrained heat becomes congested and intensifies, which will damage the blood and body fluids, and lead to stagnant blood. When these pathogens bind they will form a welling-abscess that will eventually begin to suppurate and clog the lungs.
The classic signs of a lung welling-abscess are coughing up blood and pus. Other common signs include fever, shivering, cough, chest pain, rapid breathing, and sticky fishy-smelling purulent phlegm.
The Essential Prescriptions of the Golden Cabinet (Jin Gui Yao Lue 金匱要略, Chapter 7) states, “Qian Jin Wei Jing Tang treats cough with mild heat, vexation, fullness, and scaling on the chest due to lung abscesses.”
The therapeutic approach used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat this condition is to clear the lungs, transform phlegm, resolve toxins, and expel pus.
Traditional Formula Composition:
15gm Phragmites Wei Jing (Lu Gen) 葦莖 (蘆根)
30gm Coix Yi Yi Ren 薏苡仁
10gm Persica Tao Ren 桃仁
12gm Benincasa Dong Gua Zi 冬瓜子
Wei Jing Tang’s therapeutic functions:
Clear heat from the lungs
Nourish fluids and cool the blood
Moisten the lungs and discharge pus
Transform phlegm and expel dampness
Resolve blood stasis and clear agglomeration
Wei Jing (Lu Gen) 葦莖 (蘆根) is sweet and cold, soft and hollow, light and floating and it enters the lung and stomach. These are qualities that allow it to enter the heart and lungs in the upper jiao and clear heat from the lungs. Wei Jing is said to “specialize in facilitating the passage through the orifices and is therefore good at treating lung welling-abscesses.”
Yi Yi Ren 薏苡仁 is sweet, bland, and slightly cold and it enters the lung, spleen, stomach, and kidney. It clears heat from the lungs and disperses pus from the upper parts of the body, strengthens the spleen, eliminates dampness, and helps restore function to the intestines, thereby providing an outlet for dampness and heat through the urine.
Tao Ren 桃仁 is bitter, sweet, and neutral and it enters the heart, large intestine, liver, and lung. It invigorates the blood and eliminates blood stasis, moistens the intestines, promotes bowel movement, and eliminates dry stools which clears agglomeration and thereby break up the welling-abscess.
Dong Gua Zi 冬瓜子 is sweet, cold, and slippery and it enters the lung, stomach, large intestine, and small intestine. It clears and transforms phlegm-heat, resolves dampness, and discharges pus. It clears heat that has accumulated in the lungs and intestines and damp-heat with phlegm obstruction in the lung and intestines.
Dong Gua Zi and Tao Ren promote bowel movement which is an outlet for the phlegm through the stool.
Traditional Indications and Formula Pattern:
Cough with foul-smelling sputum that may be streaked with blood
Slight fever
Vexation
Mild chest fullness and pain
Dry, scaly skin that is thickening
Red tongue with a greasy yellow coating
Slippery rapid pulse
Examples of Modern Applications:
Asthmatic bronchitis, Bronchial dilation, Bronchiectasis, Bronchitis, Lung abscesses, Pertussis, Pneumonia.
Because of these indications, it has become one of the important Chinese medicinal formulas used in the treatment of COVID-19, especially in cases where a cough sounds turbid suggesting the respiratory system is congested with phlegm.
In any case when Chinese herbs are applied to a disease or pattern of illness, whether traditionally or bio-medically referenced, formulas and herbs should only be used when the Chinese medical pattern of illness deems it appropriate. This is essential for safe and efficacious herbal therapy.
Common Formula Modifications:
Pronounced heat in the lungs, add:
Marked pus in the sputum, add:
Excessive sputum, add:
Lingering heat and persistent cough, add:
Measles with coughing, fever, thirst, and red rashes, add:
Pronounced lung heat with the formation of pus or yellow sputum in disorders such as pneumonia or acute bronchitis, add:
Abundant heat, increase:
Abundant pus, increase:
Stubborn and congealed pus in the lungs blocking the orifices, add Platycodon, Jie Geng 桔梗
Lonicera, Jin Yin Hua 金銀花
Houttuyniayu, Xing Cao魚腥草
Platycodon, Jie Geng 桔梗
Fritillaria, Chuan Bei Mu 川貝母
Licorice, Gan Cao 甘草
Lepidium, Ting Li Zi 葶藶子
Luffa, Si Gua Lou 絲瓜絡
Trichosanthis Peel, Gua Lou Pi 栝蔞皮
Loquat Leaf, Pi Pa Ye 枇杷葉
Scute, Huang Qin 黃芩
Morus Bark, Sang Bai Pi 桑白皮
Fritillaria, Chuan Bei Mu 川貝母
Platycodon, Jie Geng 桔梗
Bupleurum, Chai Hu 柴胡
Houttuynia, Yu Xing Cao 魚腥草
Lonicera, Jin Yin Hua 金銀花
Subtract: Coix, Yi Yi Ren 薏苡仁
Phragmites, Wei Jing (Lu Gen) 葦莖 (蘆根)
Coix, Yi Yi Ren 薏苡仁
Knowing how to use and compose this formula is very helpful in many clinical situations. If the finished granule extract formula is not available, it is easy to mix the single herbal granule extracts in a proportional ratio to produce the formula. It is also easy and convenient to make modifications by adding additional herb granule extracts or formula granule extracts according to the needs of the individual case.
