@samurai-esquire <3 for a starter!
He had been waiting for his father in his office. The orders had been clear enough. ‘Come see me. We need to talk about your performance today.’ Because of course his father would want to see him about his performance. Thankfully, Satoshi KNEW it was better than his first time prosecuting.
Good God. That first time had been a clusterfuck. That trial he had lost and his father had to run in and clean up his mess. All because he decided to showboat instead of do his job. He never heard the end of it. And, frankly, the reputation of his father cleaning up his messes was one Satoshi knew he was going to have to shake.
For months. Or years. Whatever.
Pouting, he looked up when there was a knock on the door of his father’s office. Standing up, Satoshi fixed his jacket and shirt before moving over to the door.
Please be an intern, he thought as he opened it.
“....”
Oh. Fuck him. Of course it wasn’t.

“Uh. Hi, Prosecutor Blackquill. You must be here to see my fa- To see the Chief Prosecutor. Is it important? I can take a message for you? He stepped out like ten minutes ago to take care of something. So....Do you want me to take a message?”

@samurai-esquire
Apollo had been absolutely crushed by the news that Prosecutor Blackquill's presence in Khura’in -- and adjacent to Nahyuta -- was going to be permanent. No more comfortable illusions that surely he’ll leave soon and I’ll never have to see him again. No more denials that what existed between him and Nahyuta was real and serious and not photoshopped.
Nahyuta had kindly offered that Apollo stay for dinner with them that evening, but was presently still tied up with his duties -- leaving the attorney now dawdling in the threshold of Blackquill’s kitchen, trying to figure out how to be as aloof as possible while still being a good houseguest. Now that Blackquill was going to be an unavoidable part of his everyday life, it was time to practice being civil.
Tumblr media
“Hiya, uh... Simon...” It wasn’t really appropriate anymore to address him with the social distance of his title, all things considered, but being on a first-name basis left a bad taste in his mouth. “Can I... do anything to help with dinner? What’re you making?”

Every time he tried to approach Simon, to offer condolence, to accept guilt for the part his identity had played in the samurai's misery, he was rebuffed. But wasn't that to be expected? He wore the face of a traitor and murderer--no, they had worn his. No matter how much he tried, that was what Simon saw every time they passed each other.
He bit his lip, mouth turning down and brow creasing in an almost childish look of pain. He started to lift his hands to make that gesture of his, fingertip to fingertip, before stopping himself. "I..."
He fell silent as Simon seemed to slump into a look of defeat and weariness. The prosecutor barely looked at him.
Bobby looked at his hands for a long moment, then slowly began to peel the gloves off. Then went the aviators. Then his coat, soon folded over one arm. He straightened his tie, unable to fidget with his aviators as he preferred, and cleared his throat.
"It's really not your fault, sir, and I... I can't just leave you with this..." He looked away and clenched his hands.

@samurai-esquire
A public servant he may be—occupying a position without possessing it—but Miles Edgeworth still sees the prosecutorial offices as his personal stomping ground. At least, he's not usually in the business of waiting for his subordinates to invite him in after he knocks on their door.
When the subordinate in question is Simon Blackquill, he allows an entirely necessary exception. It has been quite some time since the man stepped foot in this building sans shackles, let alone with his own name upon one of the plaques. Miles can't deny he's intrigued to see the layout Blackquill decided to implement... though that's not the only reason he's here.
Before exoneration, Blackquill walked the long way back to liberty. Before exoneration, Blackquill had become something of a pet concern for the chief prosecutor.
Tumblr media
"Mr. Blackquill," Miles says, once the door is open and his gaze finds the man of the hour. He offers a thin smile, because he's been conditioned to do so in the spirit of disarmament; it doesn't last. "My apologies for dropping by unannounced, but I wanted to see how you were settling in."

❝ I can never thank you enough for helping me get this position. I never truly expected it, nor did I actively wish for it, but that doesn’t mean I’m not grateful. Despite the hardships, I enjoy my new promotion, and it’s all thanks to you. You trusted me and believed in me enough to recommend me to the board. ❞

"Why were you following us?” The captain leans forward a bit to try and get a better look at the figures on the deck of the other ship. Their faces weren’t ones he recognized, but that was hardly surprising considering how vast the sea was.
“State your business and be on your way.” He had his daughter on board and didn’t want any trouble today.

samurai-esquire replied to your post: ✨ bc Apollo loves cooking it made me wonder if...
this is simultaneously so adorable and so passive aggressive i love it
✨ he’s gonna win Nahyuta over with fake Japanese food and get him to complain about Simon’s cooking not being the same, ultimate passive-aggressive move

Bobby winced with an almost pathetic look of surprise when Prosecutor Blackquill snapped at him. He had faced rebuke from many people many times in the past, but this somehow stung.
It seemed the beginnings of his habitual ramblings about--he had to admit this, deep down--rehabilitation were not appreciated. He should have known better. After all the prosecutor had been through, he would hardly want to hear a word from the face of his torment, right?
He bit his lip and apologetically cast his eyes downward. “I understand, sir!! But... You are getting help with your recovery, correct?”

「 ♠ ┊ sentences. 」
〔 ♠ 〕 ❝  GOOD.  ❞ he’s still unsure what, exactly, his keepers think they’re accomplishing here  ;  this is the – second ?  third ?  quite frankly, he’s lost track – time they’ve made a paltry pass at ‘ socializing ’ him, which mostly involves forcing him into pointless & boring conversation with a fellow inmate that devolves into terse silence after a few minutes of strained small talk. he’d tried to start off the chat with some automatic greeting (   like he’s meeting with a client – pulling back on his old person-disguise, for the space of a second   ) like he does at every one of these things, but it seems his ‘ friend ’ wants to CUT TO THE CHASE  :  skip the small talk and move right on to the sitting in silence for an hour.
