According to the gallery, Goni is quite well known in Indonesia, though this is the first time they are showing his work in the international stage. When I first these works, I was reminded of Gumby [2], the green clay humanoid character created and modelled by Art Clokey. Titled “Pembajak Seni Rupa” or “Art hijackers” in English, Goni is seen here with artist tools ready to take on the world.
