It’s so interesting how Samson’s whole thing is that he has a one track mind, is ability to focus completely on one thing until he actually achieves it. You would think that would lend to the sphere of Mind that sort of ultimate focus, but he has an affinity for matter.

Then I thought more and realized, he’s going to train to be an alchemist, and Alchemy as a field is all about chasing after one thing, the Magnum Opus, the Philosophers Stone, Ultimate Acheivement through will.
