Do whatever you want forever, however the fun of Dark Sun and Nexus' relationship is that it is toxic as hell. I don't want to see Dark Sun be a good brother to Nexus I want to see him sweetly claim the title of brother to further manipulate and use him. A real Sun and Moon duo where the Moon is the victim in this situation (Eclipse n Lunar are close but they're not Sun and Moon). Nexus left a situation where he thought he was being used and not treated as his own person, but jumped into a new one that's truly like that but 100x worse. Dark Sun well and truly hates Nexus and everything he represents to the core he is in danger here. But Nexus will pretend it's okay because Dark Sun says all the right things to his face, and deep down he knows he burned too many bridges to go back to his real family anyway.

Looking at this now makes me sad... They look so adorable here... they both deserved better 😭😭

Their relationship was so special and equally as precious. Big brother and his taller little sister, thick as thieves who adored and confided in one another.

Which is why what happened still hurts as much as it does 😭

It’s so heartbreaking to know they can never go back to this.

Okay so this is kind of a hard question to answer- yes and no.

Nexus has stated that he's ripped out, or at least deactivated, his own positive emotions (and like. okay, Eclipse V1 dupe slfkjsdf), so he quite literally can't care about them anymore.

...Which leads me to believe that, yes, he does normally still care about, or at least internally seeks some sort of acknowledgement/validation from his past family. if he didn't, there would be no need for him to take out a chunk of his own emotions.

When he cut off that part of himself, it left more space for his cruelty and NSP obsession to grow. I reckon if he switched his emotions back on right now, he might start having a feckin' panic attack over what he's doing. cause' even with them off, he still couldn't will himself to successfully kidnap Sun, he just chased him around and essentially projected onto him that whole interaction. so if lil' bro turned his (metaphorical) heart back on and he had to face emotions such as guilt, fear, remorse, and anything of the like again..? INSTANT breakdown methinks. he's cooked, someone get him some tissues

Concept I really hope gets explored in canon

Ruin gets split!

Right now the idea is that once Nexus doesn’t need Ruin anymore, Dark Sun decides to use him. More specifically Ruin’s Moon. (Bc I still believe he’s just stealing knowledge.)

The Sun part gets left behind/technically not really idk. (I believe Dark Sun has a secret small soft spot for suns) And he’s stays there until…

The October take over! Mid way though Solar get through to Nexus, and Nexus realizes that Dark Sun was going to betray him. So they work together to defeat Dark Sun

On the way they find Ruin Sun

Solar: Sun-

Sun: I didn't ask for him to be brought back!

Sun: You think i wanted this?

Sun: Monty brought him back without my consent or knowledge til' it was already done!

Solar: *quietly* what?

Sun: I didn't have a choice! I was never given a choice!

Nexus: ….

Sun: *breaks down*

Solar: Sun!

Nexus: *head twitches, reaches out. hand drops*

Nexus: Well it matters not.

Nexus: It's irrelevant. Unimportant.

Nexus: But am going to ask you once again.

Nexus: To tell me where to find the wither shard.

You know, I kind of want to see Old Moon and Nexus butt heads over the family issue.

Like:

- Nexus tries to verbally threaten Solar, and Old Moon immediately snaps, "Don't you dare touch MY family!" (Solar: "Family?" Old Moon: "Yeah, right. Sun considers you family, so by default you're my family too. We'll figure out the titles later.")

Or:

- Old Moon lashes out at Sun in emotion, and Nexus immediately reflexively reacts: “Don’t you dare FUCKING yell at him! He’s sensitive!”

And then they just roll around on the floor, screaming, kicking and slapping each other like a pair of angry kittens in a basket.
