why don't i use a lot of IRL rami malek imagery for josh? simply put, they kind of ... look different (to me). like, yes, they have the same face, that's undeniable as rami literally was the motion capture actor and voice actor for josh, but they definitely altered him. additionally, they kept that solid in the remake (you mostly see josh just sort of rendered better versus the fixes they did for some of the others, like his hair is textured more but that's about it tbh). like, rami does have a very square face thus kind of a square head, but josh has like a huge head which compensates for a much larger body than rami (who is much more lithe). rami has a "tighter" appearance to him, whereas josh has a bulkier appearance. they had to "bulk up" rami for this role, josh is a very physical character. as the masked killer, he's also supposed to be very large and imposing, a literal threat. rami malek is also 5'7, whereas i have josh at 6'1. looking at pictures of rami malek versus josh, it's just clear as day ... they are the same, but they are very different.

actually, i'd even argue that rami's twin brother (sami malek) is actually closer to josh ironically:
