IndyCar news | Team Penske's Will Power vying to join rare club of racers by going back-to-back
In the more than 100 years of IndyCar racing through its various guises, 26 drivers have won the title more than once. Of those 26, just two have gone back-to-back. Will Power could become the third this year, joining Dario Franchitti and Sam Hornish Jr in that elite club. Stan Sport is the only place to watch the 2023 IndyCar Series, beginning March 6 AEDT. All the action streaming ad-free, live…

Kisekae Insights #21: Fifi and Roary addendum
Hey everyone. In case you haven’t read already, I have a full-time job now, so I don’t know if I’ll be as prolific in making content than in the past. However, I am still determined to cover Gokaiger, Decade and Soulbound eventually, so I aim to make two instalments of Kisekae Insights per month. When we get to those instalments, they will most likely be split up into multiple parts, so I might be releasing more than two instalments in a month. I started this series as a result of the coronavirus lockdown – even with further lockdowns resulting in me having to work from home, I don’t know if I can be as prolific as I have been last year, given that I need to be in work mode for five days a week and that I still have my personal project to finish off. Nevertheless, I will continue to do my best and I hope you will continue to support me as always.
The main purpose of this instalment is to set the record straight on voice actors for Fifi and the Flowertots and Roary the Racing Car like I did with Angelina Ballerina a few instalments ago. Unlike Angelina Ballerina, however, this list was easy to determine because the cast is (largely) the same in both the UK and US versions. My original plan for this was to update the original instalment with this new information, but then I decided that it would be better to release it as a filler instalment.
Fifi and the Flowertots voice actors:
Jane Horrocks – Fifi Forget-me-not, Primrose
Maria Darling – Violet, Pip Gooseberry, Poppy (UK)/Poppady (US), Webby
Marc Silk – Bumble (UK)/Fuzzbuzz (US), Slugsy
Tim Whitnall – Stingo, Aunt Tulip, Hornetto, Grubby, Flutterby
Nick Wilson – Diggly
Joanna Ruiz – Buttercup
Janet James – Daisy
Nick Wilson is better known as a producer, scriptwriter and a consultant for children’s media according to his LinkedIn account.
Roary the Racing Car voice actors:
Peter Kay (UK)/Kerry Shale (US) – Big Chris, Tin Top, Big Christine
Maria Darling – Roary, Cici (UK)/Zizzy (US), Marsha, Mama Mia, Breeze
Marc Silk – Maxi, Hellie, Drifter (UK)/Dragga (US), Flash (UK)/Furz (US), Nick, Dinkie
Tim Whitnall – Mr Carburettor, Farmer Green
Dominic Frisby – Rusty, FB (UK)/Trucksy (US), Plugger (UK)/Lugga (US), James, Loada, PC Pete, Molecom
Craig Lowndes – Conrod
Sir Stirling Moss (UK)/Sam Hornish Jr. (US) – Narrator
Big Chris was absent in the Roary tribute episodes in Gokaiger and Decade and as such, Kerry Shale was credited as Tin Top’s voice. The reason is because Peter Kay had cancelled his tour and all his other work in November 2017 due to “unforeseen family circumstances”. I thought it was going to be permanent, but given how he seemingly started to come back to the limelight a few months after, I ended up giving him a cameo in the final episode of Gokaiger before giving him a full appearance in the Roary tribute episode in Soulbound Series 3 (October 2019).
Fifi and Roary are somewhat obscure series; the fact that they used to have websites was enough for them not to fall into even deeper obscurity. A decade ago, not very many episodes were uploaded onto YouTube, but now, the two shows have official channels and episodes keep being reuploaded daily with no indication of episode numbers. Trying to attain an accurate episode list has been a nightmare, though it can be said that at least 104 episodes were made for both series between 2005 and 2008 (assuming each series took about a year to produce).
In regards to Fifi, I find it interesting that it got a third series, but it was only 13 episodes long. Buttercup, Daisy and Flutterby were new characters in the series and I think they deserved more screentime, but hey, the fact that I’ve done this project means that I’ve fulfilled that wish already (hypothetically speaking).
So what happened to the production company, Chapman Entertainment? After creating Little Charley Bear and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion, Chapman was placed into administration in November 2012 and acquired by DreamWorks Animation in September 2013. Founder Keith Chapman, who created Bob the Builder in 1998, would go on to create PAW Patrol and Mighty Express. At this point, Fifi and Roary are obscure enough that I could say I own the rights to both series and nobody would care. In fact, I like to pretend that I do, like this project isn’t full of copyright infringements already.
At this point, both the official websites for Fifi and Roary have been discontinued and are now essentially impossible to access via archives due to the discontinuation of Adobe Flash. Low-quality wiki information seems to be all that remains now, but hilariously, the wiki for Fifi and the Flowertots seems to be no more.
I’m always appreciative of the few fans who like my posts or even reach out to me on things relating to obscure shows or content, whether it be Fifi and the Flowertots, Sea Princesses or anything else. As I have stated before, content for these shows is hard to come by and as such, people like me have had to step up and be the change we want to see in the world. For example, if I didn’t take the plunge last year during lockdown, I wouldn’t have been able to translate and review the Sea Princesses book series.
Anyway, that’s it for now. I’ll move onto something new in the next instalment.

What to know about Sunday's Indy 500 coverage
While the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 will not be held on its originally scheduled date of May 24, the IndyStar and NBC Sports have plenty of special Indy 500 programming planned for the day.
Here's everything you need to know to celebrate the Greatest Spectacle in Racing:
Pre-Race Coverage
Tune into IndyStar.com at noon for a Special Edition of Pit Pass Live hosted by sports editor Matt Glenesk and motorsports Insider Nathan Brown. The show will feature interviews from IMS president Doug Boles, drivers Tony Kanaan and Simon Pagenaud and driving legend A.J. Foyt.
Is the Indy 500 on TV?
Fans craving the need for speed can get their fill by watching a special presentation of the 2019 Indy 500 starting at 2 p.m. on NBC.
NBC is calling its Memorial Day weekend broadcast: "Indy 500 Special: Back Home Again." The event will be highlighted by a re-airing of the 2019 race with commentary by NBC Sports' Mike Tirico, race-winner Simon Pagenaud and runner-up/2016 winner Alexander Rossi.
The broadcast will also feature time-honored prerace traditions, and a special recognition of those fighting on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ESPN2 will be broadcasting three previous Indianapolis 500s beginning at 3 p.m., starting with the 2006 race when Sam Hornish Jr. became the first driver in history to make a winning pass on the final lap. At 5 p.m., it will be the 2011 race with JR Hildebrand crashing on Lap 200, and Dan Wheldon clinching his second Indy 500 victory. The last IndyCar re-broadcast will be the 2014 race at 7 p.m., which had 34 lead changes among 11 drivers with Ryan Hunter-Reay winning.
When is the actual Indy 500?
The Indy 500, originally scheduled for May 24, has been postponed until Aug. 23.
Where to buy tickets to Indy 500?
Reserved and general admission tickets to the Indy 500 can be purchased at indianapolismotorspeedway.com
Choose the ultimate Indy 500 winner
There won't be a 2020 race to watch (yet) but we've created a Dream Field 102 years in the making. We'll take you row-by-row through the field and the winner.
Go here to vote for who would win if A.J. Foyt, Rick Mears and Al Unser were on the track at their peak. Or do you prefer Ray Harroun, Ralph DePalma or Scott Dixon?
