I recently read Mega by Salvador Sanz, a kaiju comic about a six-year old girl who is contacted in her dreams by her grandfather, who entrusts an artifact to her that can summon "Mega" - the Earth's guardian against the monstrous giants known as Jackals, who have begun to awaken, one by one.
The action is made fresh by setting the action primarily in Uruguay and Argentina. (Here we see Montevideo's Plaza Independencia, about to get fuckin' wasted.)
the art is absolutely gorgeous, contrasting the xenomorph-made-of-metamorphic rock look of Mega and the Giants with cityscapes and images of nature.
Also, someone bakes cakes ... EVILLY! which is a villainous first for me.
Approximately the first two-thirds of the story are available to read for free online at Zestworld comics. I encourage you to go check it out!
