I may add more to this list later, this is just whatever stood out to me based on what I've read in the last few years. I tried to pick stories with very different vibes and tropes from each other, and all of these are about adult women except for Renai Idenshi. quick rundown for that modern cowpuncher verse (v;lil slice of heaven saddled on a cowpuncher's dream):

kid that came from dust scraps that took to the pbr as soon as he could (min age is 18 for entry, I'm sure); he quickly takes the stage by storm as the kid who came from nowhere.

in elaboration to his youth: it's not so different from how it is in all his other verses. a dispossesed, orphan traveller who works his ocassional odd jobs, but for the most part he DOES stick to being a cowhand; bothering the local vaqueros and rancheros about rodeo competitions. he does a lot of trial and error learning on his own, uses a lot of secondhand and borrowed equipment while building his own set for his first entry. before the loss of his parents, he'd started with mutton busting as per most kids.

cole's other point of interest in the competitions is steer wrestling, which he will perform for on the occassion, but not as frequently for a bull ride; he's also a mean ass roper - but he keeps this skillset to the job despite folk asking him to partner up for team-roping or just enter as a roper.

cole takes a lot of his winning funds to settle out and work his own property in his downtime. it's a modest size compared to an average ranch (he keeps about ~25 head or less), and he keeps it this way to be manageable when he's travelling between competitions. good neighbors will ranch-sit for him while he's away.

he's well-known and well-regarded in the town he settles down in; knows most people's names. im just going to put some of his other modern-verse npc's residing in this town which include Ernesto, who taught him to maintain and build a motorbike, and Ol' Kooky Sal who threw him around on a crop duster plane.

Maria remains his ranching horse, though she's getting up there in age. He still steals her from Drug Mules and it plays, in part, as to why she mostly remains a stay-at-home horse. He shows in public with another horse I'll work out more in depth later.

He still loses his arm, at some point.

Billy Whitebread Headcanons

his real name is jason booth, but he starts going by billy regularly after the fall of bonesaw vic's. sal's silly little nickname just stuck.

he has tried multiple times to grow a beard, and every time he's given up and shaved it off because he didn't vibe with it.

he's a convicted felon--when he was 19, he was arrested for breaking and entering as well as felony drug possession with intent to distribute.

in modern verses, billy is in his early 50s, though magic supernatural bullshit from his interactions with the fae has increased his natural lifespan dramatically. he isn't sure by how much, though.

he's big into grunge, and his favorite band is nirvana.

his right ear is pierced but his left isn't. no he didn't understand the connotations behind that when he got it. he likes to wear a simple gold earring most of the time.

he has some tattoos, notably a series of sigils on his back to ward off certain supernatural beings, especially ghosts n' shit. salvatore delights in telling him that they're stupid and don't do anything but make him look like a moron.

he also has the name of one of his ex-girlfriends tattooed on his left thigh. she dumped him about a month and a half after he got it. he tells everyone it's actually his mom's name.

it took a lot of time and effort, but he did eventually manage to kick the smoking habit he developed while working at the zoo. he also doesn't drink for the most part anymore, but he does still occasionally smoke weed.

post zoo, billy dresses formally most of the time, but he still keeps a lot of his old band tees and jeans from the early 90s. his most prized article of clothing, though, is a worn leather jacket.

he paints his nails on occasion. his favorite color to make them is purple.

he has some scars, most notably a cut along his jaw and several clawmarks on his back. his shitty sigil tattoos help cover them up.

in modern verses, he absolutely posts thirst traps on instagram. they're surprisingly good. salvatore has an instagram account just to comment on those and make fun of him.

he tends not to use specific labels for himself most of the time, but for all intents and purposes he's a bisexual cis dude.

billy is 5'10.5" but likes to tell people he's the full 5'11".

Gedagtes en verse oor GOD se WOORD

Die Aanslag teen die Woord

Van die begin af het die duiwel God se Woord aangeval. Gen 3:1 “... Is dit ook so dat God gesê het:” Dit is nog steeds die geval. Hy wil die fondamente van die Kerk verwoes. Ps 11:3“As die fondamente omgegooi word, wat kan die regverdige doen?” Moderne teoloë volg mense soos Bultmann wat sê dat die Bybel sy ontstaan te danke het aan mites as bronne. Verder ook Karl Barth wat sê dat die Bybel is nie ‘God se Woord’, maar dit word ‘God se Woord’ wanneer jy dit lees en stel gevolglik so die Bybel gelyk aan ander menslike geskrifte. Verder is daar selfs van die behoudende teoloë wat sê dat Genesis een net ‘kunsprosa’ is. Hulle kan eenvoudig nie aanvaar dat dit wat daar staan waar is nie. Dit maak plek vir die ‘Big Bang’ en die ‘Evolusie Teorie’ wat beide nie bewysbaar is nie en selfs natuur wette moet breek om te kon plaasvind. So word kinders dan ook geleer dat die Bybel stories is en dat die ‘Evolusie Teorie’ geskiedenis is. Die gevolg is dat die Kerk hierdie jong mense en baie ander verloor en dit kring al meer uit.

Daar is baie kerkleiers wat nie meer glo dat mense soos Adam en Eva, Noag en Jona historiese persone was nie. Hulle betwyfel ook die duiwel se bestaan. Verder glo hulle nie aan wonderwerke, dat Jesus uit ‘n Maagd gebore is en dat Hy uit die dood opgestaan het nie. 1Tim 4:1“Maar die Gees sê uitdruklik dat in die laaste tye sommige van die geloof afvallig sal word en verleidende geeste en leringe van duiwels sal aanhang deur die geveinsdheid van leuenaars wat gebrandmerk is in hulle eie gewete,” Hulle het nie meer eerbied vir God en die Woord. Die blye boodskap van die Evangelie word vervang met ‘n nuwe boodskap van ‘onvoorwaardelike’ liefde en ���inklusiwe’ verhoudinge ongeag van die teks wat hulle gekies het. Bygesê dat hierdie onvoorwaardelikheid en inklusiwiteit juis sekere groepe uitsluit soos byvoorbeeld wat hulle noem ‘homofobiese’ persone, ook dolerendes, selfs ongebore persone en persone wat glo dat die Skrifte absolute waarhede bevat. Die liberale leiers noem die laaste groep dan ook fundamentaliste.

Die Bybel waarsku baie duidelik in baie gedeeltes oor hierdie dinge en daarom is dit geen verrassing dat mense bly ontken dat dit so is. Die Bybel is nie diplomaties daaroor nie en wys ook waarom God gevrees moet word. Jer 5:30-31“ ‘n Ontsettende en afskuwelike ding het in die land gebeur: die profete profeteer vals, en aan hulle sy oefen die priesters mag uit, en my volk wil dit graag so hê. Maar wat sal julle doen aan die einde daarvan?”

Jer 14:14“En die HERE het vir my gesê: Die profete profeteer vals in my Naam; Ek het hulle nie gestuur en hulle geen bevel gegee en met hulle nie gespreek nie; hulle profeteer vir julle ‘n leuengesig en nietige waarsêery en bedrieëry van hulle hart.”

Mat 7:15 “Maar pas op vir die valse profete wat in skaapsklere na julle kom en van binne roofsugtige wolwe is.”

Mat 24:11 “En baie valse profete sal opstaan en baie mense mislei.”

2Kor 11:13-15 “Want sulke mense is valse apostels, bedrieglike arbeiders wat hulleself verander in apostels van Christus. En geen wonder nie! Want die Satan self verander hom in ‘n engel van die lig. Dit is dus niks besonders wanneer sy dienaars hulle ook voordoen as dienaars van geregtigheid nie. Maar hulle einde sal wees volgens hulle werke.”

2Pet 2:1  “Maar daar was ook valse profete onder die volk, net soos daar onder julle valse leraars sal wees wat verderflike ketterye heimlik sal invoer, en ook die Here wat hulle gekoop het, verloën en ‘n vinnige verderf oor hulleself bring;”

1Joh 4:1“Geliefdes, glo nie elke gees nie, maar stel die geeste op die proef of hulle uit God is, want baie valse profete het in die wêreld uitgegaan.”

Sekere misleiers kan baie vroom en liefdevol voorkom sodat hulle mense se vertroue wen. Van hulle sê Calvyn: “Die huigelaars roem oor hulle vroomheid asof hulle ware dienaars van God is. Maar Christus sê dat hulle uiteindelik uitgejaag sal word uit die plek wat hulle ten onregte inneem.”Inst III, 24, 8Wat sê die Woord van hierdie valse profete? Hoe moet ons teenoor hulle optree? Die antwoord wat ons kry is as volg. Gal 1:8-9“Maar al sou ons of ‘n engel uit die hemel julle ‘n evangelie verkondig in stryd met die wat ons julle verkondig het, laat hom ‘n vervloeking wees! Soos ons vantevore gesê het, sê ek nou ook weer: As iemand julle ‘n evangelie verkondig in stryd met die wat julle ontvang het, laat hom ‘n vervloeking wees!”Die apostel Johannes is net so duidelik daaroor. 2Joh 1:10-11“As iemand na julle kom en hierdie leer nie bring nie, ontvang hom nie in die huis nie en groet hom nie. Want die een wat hom groet, het gemeenskap aan sy bose werke.”Wat verkondig word moet getoets word of dit waar en reg is, soos die mense van Berea gedoen het. Hand 17:11“En hierdie mense was edelmoediger as dié in Thessaloníka; hulle het die woord met alle welwillendheid ontvang en elke dag die Skrifte ondersoek of hierdie dinge so was.”

Daar is ‘n traagheid om die Skrifte te gehoorsaam. Mat 7:24&26 “Elkeen dan wat na hierdie woorde van My luister en dit doen, hom sal Ek vergelyk met ‘n verstandige man wat sy huis op die rots gebou het. En elkeen wat na hierdie woorde van My luister en dit nie doen nie, sal vergelyk word met ‘n dwase man wat sy huis op die sand gebou het.”

2Tes 3:14-15“En as iemand aan ons woord in hierdie brief nie gehoorsaam is nie, teken dié man en hou geen gemeenskap met hom nie, sodat hy skaam kan word. En beskou hom nie as ‘n vyand nie, maar vermaan hom as ‘n broeder.” Ware gelowiges sal nie dinge verdedig wat teen die Woord indruis nie. Uit die Woord is dit duidelik dat sulke dinge sal gebeur. 2Tim 4:3-4“want daar sal ‘n tyd wees wanneer hulle die gesonde leer nie sal verdra nie, maar, omdat hulle in hul gehoor gestreel wil wees, vir hulle ‘n menigte leraars sal versamel volgens hulle eie begeerlikhede, en die oor sal afkeer van die waarheid en hulle sal wend tot fabels.”So bring die mens ‘n oordeel oorhomself. Jes 3:4 “En Ek sal seuns hulle vorste maak, en moedswilliges sal oor hulle heers.” Is dit nodig om meer daaroor te sê? Hos 8:7“Want hulle saai wind, maar hulle sal storm maai;” Dit is presies wat gebeur. Gelowiges wat die Woord ken moet nie dwalinge aanvaar nie. Ef 5:14“Daarom sê Hy: Ontwaak, jy wat slaap, en staan op uit die dode, en Christus sal oor jou skyn.” Daar is baie waarskuwings in die Woord. Dan 12:2“En baie van die wat in die stof van die aarde slaap, sal ontwaak, sommige tot die ewige lewe en sommige tot groot smaadheid, vir ewig afgryslik.”

Die oorsprong van die Woord

Dit is baie belangrik dat elkeen seker sal weet waar die Bybel vandaan kom en nie net sal glo wat ander sê nie. Die beste plek om te begin is by 2Tim 3:16 “Die hele Skrif is deur God ingegee (geinspireer) en is nuttig tot lering, tot weerlegging, tot teregwysing, tot onderwysing in die geregtigheid,” Ingegee is vertaal uit die Griekse woord θεόπνευστος (Theopneustos) wat letterlik beteken deur God uitgeasem. Dit impliseer baie duidelik dat alles wat in die Bybel geskryf is uit God se mond gekom het. So word die Woord dan ook beskryf as ‘n swaard (Ef. 6:17, Heb, 4:12) en sien ons in Op. 1:16 “... en ‘n skerp tweesnydende swaard het uit sy mond uitgegaan, en sy aangesig was soos die son wat skyn in sy krag.”Dan weer in Op. 19:15 “En uit sy mond gaan daar ‘n skerp swaard ...”. Die Skrifte kom daarom uit die mond van God en is deur mense neergeskryf. Mat 4:4 “Maar Hy antwoord en sê: Daar is geskrywe: Die mens sal nie van brood alleen lewe nie, maar van elke woord wat deur die mond van God uitgaan.”

Heb 1:1 “Nadat God baiekeer en op baie maniere in die ou tyd gespreek het tot die vaders deur die profete, het Hy in hierdie laaste dae tot ons gespreek deur die Seun.”

Dit is duidelik dat God mense gebruik het om neer te skryf presies wat Hy wou hê dat hulle moes skryf. Rom 15:4 “Want alles wat tevore geskrywe is, is tot ons lering tevore geskrywe, sodat ons deur lydsaamheid en bemoediging van die Skrifte hoop kan hê.” So het God sekere mense toegerus en beveel om te Sy woorde neer te skryf. Soos ook vir Moses.Eks. 34:27“Verder het die HERE vir Moses gesê: Skrywe vir jou hierdie woorde op,”Petrus sê ook vir ons dat die Woord van God afkomstig is en nie van mense afkom nie. 2Pet 1:19-21“En ons het die profetiese woord wat baie vas is, waarop julle tog moet ag gee soos op ‘n lamp wat in ‘n donker plek skyn, totdat die dag aanbreek en die môrester opgaan in julle harte; terwyl julle veral dít moet weet, dat geen profesie van die Skrif ‘n saak van eie uitlegging is nie; want geen profesie is ooit deur die wil van ‘n mens voortgebring nie, maar, deur die Heilige Gees gedrywe, het die heilige mense van God gespreek.”

God se Woord is waar en ewig

Ps 12:7“Die woorde van die HERE is rein woorde, silwer wat gelouter is in ‘n smeltkroes in die aarde, gesuiwer sewe maal.”Die Woord is nie gebind aan tyd nie. Dit probeer ook nie om menslike kultuur te handhaaf nie, maar skep ‘n nuwe kultuur. Wanneer God se Woord betwyfel word, dan word God betwyfel. Ons kan nie die Woord losmaak van God self nie. Ons kan God ook nie leer ken sonder die Woord nie. Joh 1:1 “In die begin was die Woord, en die Woord was by God, en die Woord was God.”

Ps 119:89“Vir ewig, o HERE, staan u woord vas in die hemele.”

Ps 119:152“Lankal het ek geweet uit u getuienisse dat U hulle vir ewig gegrond het.”

Ps 119:160 “Die hele inhoud van u woord is waarheid, en al u regverdige verordeninge is tot in ewigheid.”

Jes 40:8 “Die gras verdor, die blom verwelk; maar die woord van onse God hou stand in ewigheid.”

Mat 5:18“Want voorwaar Ek sê vir julle, voordat die hemel en die aarde verbygaan, sal nie een jota of een titteltjie van die wet ooit verbygaan totdat alles gebeur het nie.”

1Pet 1:23-25“want julle is wedergebore nie uit verganklike saad nie, maar uit onverganklike, deur die lewende woord van God wat tot in ewigheid bly. Want alle vlees is soos gras, en al die heerlikheid van die mens soos ‘n blom van die gras. Die gras verdor en sy blom val af, maar die woord van die Here bly tot in ewigheid. En dit is die woord wat aan julle verkondig is.”

Joh 17:17“Heilig hulle in u waarheid; u woord is die waarheid.”

1Tim 4:9 “Dit is ‘n betroubare woord en werd om ten volle aangeneem te word;”

God se Woord is volledig.

Behalwe om die Woord te verdraai en te betwyfel kan daar ook bygelas word of daarvan weggelaat word. ‘n Halwe waarheid is erger as ‘n leuen. Deut 4:2“Julle mag by die woord wat ek julle beveel, niks byvoeg nie, en julle mag daar niks van weglaat nie;”

Op 22:18-19“Want ek betuig aan elkeen wat die woorde van die profesie van hierdie boek hoor: As iemand by hierdie dinge byvoeg, dan sal God oor hom die plae byvoeg waarvan in hierdie boek geskrywe is. En as iemand iets van die woorde van die boek van hierdie profesie wegneem, dan sal God sy deel wegneem uit die boek van die lewe en uit die heilige stad en uit die dinge waarvan in hierdie boek geskrywe is.”

Alles wat ons moet weet is daar vir ons in die Woord opgeteken. Soos die Woord sê ons is reeds volkome toegerus deur die Woord en daar is niks meer nodig om geopenbaar te word nie. 2Ti 3:17“sodat die mens van God volkome kan wees, vir elke goeie werk volkome toegerus.” Wie ook al nuwe openbaringe van God kry deur drome of beweer dat God direk met hom/haar praat is besig om by te las by die Woord. Daarmee sê hulle dat die Woord nie genoegsaam en volledig is om ons volkome toe te rus met alles wat ons nodig het om te weet. Die false profete binne die Kerk is soms persone wat dele van die Skrif ignoreer. Dit maak die deur oop vir ander dwalinge. So het sommige dan ‘n valse evangelie omdat hulle amper alles verkondig, maar laat dan uiters belanrike dinge weg soos bekering van sonde en slegte begeertes, belydenis daarvan en wedergeboorte. Dit is van die belanrike dinge waaroor hulle stil is. ‘n Goeie voorbeeld daarvan is die ‘Alfa’ kursus wat die ‘skerp punte’ van die Evangelie uitlaat.

Wat hulle leer is baie keer baie goeie noodsaaklike dinge. Dat mense soos Jesus moet wees. Sy voorbeeld moet nagevolg word. Deur goeie werke moet die wêreld glo verander word. Die werke moet wees uit dankbaarheid vir verlossing en nie om genade te verdien nie. Die mense word daardeur verlei sonder dat hulle dit agterkom. Dit is nie net baie eensydig nie maar word ook te ver gevoer. Dit is omdat die kern van die Evangelie verlore raak. Die klem skuif dan weg van God af na die mens, na wat hy is en wat hy doen. Dit staan strydig met wat Paulus sê: 1Kor 2:2“want ek het my voorgeneem om niks anders onder julle te weet nie as Jesus Christus, en Hom as gekruisigde.”Daar is dan niks van verlossing van sonde en slegte begeertes, die mense se gevalle natuur, wedergeboorte en bekering. Vermanings word nie gehoor, want hulle dink dit is sleg om te sê dat daar dinge is wat vir God ‘n gruwel is en dat die mens hom moet bekeer. Die mens staan dan sentraal en die bybelse opdrag is langs die pad verloor. 2Tim 4:2“verkondig die woord; hou aan tydig en ontydig; weerlê, bestraf, vermaan in alle lankmoedigheid en lering;”

Wanneer die Woord vir mense nie meer genoegsaam is nie, begin ‘n kerk ontspoor. Dit is ‘n proses wat nie ewe skielik nie gebeur nie. Daar word geleidelik van die Woord afgewyk omdat die Woord volgens hulle te ‘primitief’ of ‘onwetenskaplik’ geword het. Dit is soos die storie van die paddas wat in die water sit wat al warmer word totdat dit te laat is om uit te spring en so dood brand, omdat hulle nie agter gekom het wat aan die gang is nie. Dit is gevaarligte wat ons het. Dat die Skrif nie meer genoegsaam is nie en dat die klem al meer verskuif van God af na die mens. God word uitgeskuif as die middelpunt om die mens in die middelpunt te kry. God se wysheid word vervang met mense se wysheid. Spr 3:5 “Vertrou op die HERE met jou hele hart en steun nie op jou eie insig nie.” So word die Woord subtiel verdraai en ander kere weer openlik.

Waarom God se Woord bestudeer?

Ons kan eers negatief daarna kyk uit die Woord self.

Spr 19:2 “Selfs ywer is sonder kennis nie goed nie;”

Jes 5:13“Daarom gaan my volk in ballingskap weens gebrek aan kennis, ...”

Hos 4:6 “My volk gaan te gronde weens gebrek aan kennis; omdat jy die kennis verwerp het, sal Ek jou verwerp, ... “.

Mat 22:29 “Toe antwoord Jesus en sê vir hulle: Julle dwaal, omdat julle die Skrifte nie ken nie en ook nie die krag van God nie.”

Rom 10:2 “Want ek getuig van hulle dat hulle ‘n ywer vir God het, maar sonder kennis.”

Ef 4:14” sodat ons nie meer kinders sou wees nie wat soos golwe geslinger en heen en weer gedryf word deur elke wind van lering, deur die bedrieëry van die mense, deur sluheid om listiglik tot dwaling te bring;”

1Kor 2 15:34 “...want sommige het geen kennis van God nie. Ek sê dit tot julle beskaming.”

2Tim 3:7 ”wat altyd leer en nooit tot die kennis van die waarheid kan kom nie.”

Heb 2:1-5 “Daarom moet ons des te meer ag gee op wat ons gehoor het, dat ons nie miskien wegdrywe nie. Want as die woord deur engele gespreek, onwankelbaar was, en elke oortreding en ongehoorsaamheid regverdige vergelding ontvang het, hoe sal ons ontvlug as ons so ‘n groot saligheid veronagsaam wat, nadat dit eers deur die Here verkondig is, aan ons bevestig is deur die wat dit gehoor het, terwyl God ook nog saam getuig het deur tekens en wonders en allerhande kragtige dade en bedélinge van die Heilige Gees volgens sy wil?”

Die Woord is ook positief daaroor.God se Woord alleen rus gelowiges toe om met die Heilige Gees se hulp te strewe na gehoorsaamheid, onderskeiding en balaans. Alles moet wees uit liefde vir God, die Woord van waarheid, medegelowiges en ongelowiges. Geloof is ‘n vaste vertroue in hierdie kennis en geloof en gehoorsaamheid loop altyd saam. Net so moet waarheid en liefde ook altyd saam loop.

Ps 119:2-3 “Welgeluksalig is die wat sy getuienisse bewaar, Hom van ganser harte soek; ook geen ongeregtigheid doen nie, maar in sy weë wandel.”

This is a series with two fics on the same scene, each one following a different POV. That Time In Malta: to all that ever mattered, to all i ever loved, by @whoreschach. A powerful character study for both Nicky and Joe, as they deal with the aftermath of Merrick’s. Exquisite smut and all the porn with feelings. Hurt/Comfort: Buried In Your Love, by @sholeh675. Here the smut is part of the healing process and it’s done brilliantly. I usually don’t care much about blow jobs in fics, but oh boy this one does it amazingly. Mission fic: The Golden Horn, by goldsaffron. Amazing historical research and Joe’s voice is so fucking good. The “mission” part per se is more Andy and Quỳnh’s doing, but the whole plot is freaking genius. Dark: Sustenance, by @quincette. This fic deals with cannibalism (not between JoeNicky) and uses the most clever metaphors and religious themes in a way that will make your soul sing. Fluff: Let Your Heart Beat Here, by @aw-hawkeye-no. A story about Nile as she struggles with being an omega in a world of alphas. Also, Nicky helps her to build a nest, which is the cutest thing in the world. Humor/Crack: Fifty Florins, by goldsaffron. Not exactly a funny story, but Yusuf’s voice here is simply hilarious, the historical background is genius and the trial scene in London has my whole heart. PWP: My End and My Beginning, by @shadowhannibad. I probably could pick almost any of this author's fics to fill this category, because she always writes unapologetic, scorching hot porn, but this one is soft and horny at the right amount for my tastes. Gen: Remember me for centuries, by @snipergirl21. A story about how the things we collect throughout our lives hold meaning. It’s the perfect mix of bittersweet and the family feels. Modern AU: The Old Guard Prison, by @queen-of-badomens. One of my favourite fics in this fandom. Amazing characterization, compelling plot, the character’s voices are spot on (even the OCs are amazing!) and it has brilliant action scenes. Fantasy AU: Recalescence, by @quincette. I have written in my comment for this story that I’d read a whole trilogy about this verse and I stand by it. An amazing fic with star-crossed lovers + magic + omegaverse. Omegaverse: Love At First Time, by yonge_sonne. It was so fucking hard to pick a story for this category (and I ended up putting some of my fave omegaverse fics in other categories, lol), but I chose this one because it’s simply so fucking hot. Comicsverse: faces that you meet [there will be time], by irrelevant. My favourite comicsverse fic. The author nails their comics voice so, so freaking well. I love the introspection and the smut is top tier. Missing Scene: There’s a TV, Joe!, by @ignisentis. Copley’s POV about the plane scene. It’s brilliant, Joe and Nicky’s voices are amazingly done, they are so snarky and so in love. Kenzarelli Multiverse: Il Lupo d'Italia, by @sholeh675. I don’t read much crossover, but I do love the domesticity here and how the author manages to make me care for these characters I know almost nothing about. WIP fic: Bits & Glimpses, by @quincette. This author has a lot of WIPs I’d love to read more about, but I chose this one because this verse is so compelling and all the little details she came up with are genius. And to think this is technically a glory hole fic... Fic you want a sequel for: red sand, by @silvyri. This fic could also be in dark and omegaverse categories, but I really, really dream about a sequel for this. I’d love to read about the healing journey for Yusuf and Nicolò after the traumatic event that bonded them forever (and no, I’m not talking about Jerusalem). Free space: The Secret History, by spqr. This fic is very hard to categorise, but I can say it’s a fucking fantastic character study and Joe’s voice is absolutely stunning here. I re-read at least once a month because it's that good.

So this is gonna be officially NON-canon to my AU but I just wanted to put my opinions on possible S/Os.  I want everyone to be able to have their own ideas for this verse as it is an Everyone is happy (including the readers) AU

She's a research assistant assigned to monitor his squad

They start off as a shy friendship

Sal’s squad mates try to hype him up to ask her out

Her friends are scared of him and tell her to stay away (she refuses to listen as he is a nice person to her)

The Mermen eventually trick them into a small casual date

This leads to future dates and a relationship

She is always complimenting him and trying to bring up his confidence

He does the same for her 

He likes to bring her little gifts from his missions

She keeps all his gifts in a lockbox so no-one steals or breaks them

They try to be subtle around each other and the girls (they fail miserably) 

The girls eventually get annoyed with the longing and drop hints to their mom that they are fine with them being together

Alcina is the one to ask Donna out on a date, they go on a picnic and have a lovely time

The girls never really call Donna mom they stick with Aunt Donna (but occasionally they will if they have nightmares or get caught in the cold)

Donna is ok with the girls seeing her as just an aunt and takes a backseat with parenting as she doesn't want to intrude in their family dynamic

She is a hunter sent to the village to be a double agent to find the weaknesses for the “monsters”

She starts feeding the other hunters bad info and working to try and get them to leave without completing the hunt

During a meeting with the hunters, she finds a strange fly and recognizes it as one of the Girls

Panic ensues and the other hunters try and kill it, she stops them but this leads to the Fam finding out about her betrayal from Cassandra (who was the spy)

Donna doesn't want to believe it but they use her hallucinations to get the truth

they find out she is on their side but still hurt

After a long period of distrust they find their way back to each other and live happily ever after

The Girls and Alcina take longer to trust but try for Donna

Develop feelings for each other through mutual hobbies (reading and gardening)

Donna talks about her feelings and worries with Alcina during their Tea times

Alcina comforts her and assures her she would make a wonderful partner for Bela and she would love her as a daughter in law

It takes Bela a few days to realize the meaning of them and plans a date for them in a nearby town (a modern one not a village)

They go to a nice bookstore/coffee shop and have a slow pleasant date

Discussion/Ramble of post-9/11 AU

If you’ve read On Leave already, you’re aware of my American Idiot AU which is simply just Mafia 3, but post-9/11. Music plays a huge role in this as well, hence the title being one of the most politically scathing punk albums of the early 2000s. (What can I say? I’m a die hard pop punk and punk rock fan. I’m in the top 0.5% for Green Day and top 20% for Dead Kennedys, so that should say something.)

American Idiot takes place in a post-9/11 America and follows Lincoln Clay and John Donovan on their bumpy roads through (pseudo)-recovery, emotions, and pop culture. It’s essentially a semi-modern universe with punk music and it’s just one kid writing it instead of numerous people.

Here’s the ideas/WIPs I have at the moment:

American Idiot: The main “fic”, which is most likely going to be more of a timeline and general overview of the plot. I’m still undecided on how I want to execute this frankly.

City of the Damned: stories of Ellis, Danny, Giorgi, Lincoln, and Nicki (pre-Lincoln joining the Army). It’ll most likely include their reactions to 9/11 and domestic terrorism, so be warned.

Holiday: I honestly forgot, but probably just some small stories of Lincoln with his family/community.

Unnamed: A peek into John’s backstory, mainly his teenage years.

Novacaine: Lincoln smokes and talks with a war buddy while back in the states temporarily. He doesn’t go back home, for a myriad of reasons.

Coming Clean: Lincoln discovers that he’s not straight.

Know Your Enemy: John meets Connor Aldridge in the 90s (pre-9/11) and somewhat admires him. That gets destroyed after the events of 9/11, and the fic starts (or ends?) with John holding a gun to Aldridge’s head.

Letterbomb: Roxy is pissed at Lincoln for working with known racists (and a CIA agent, just look up the history of what the US government has done to the black community for details on that one), and loses her temper on him. That passion that Lincoln loved backfired on him.

I’m struggling with how Sal gets the money plates or if he should do something else, as the money-plates was heavily era-specific, but I’m open to ideas! Speaking of which, I probably will try to explore potential disorders that the characters have (I am not a professional, please don’t treat me as one lol) and how it manifests now that there are labels.

There’s more but that’s the basics for the actual verse!

History Ramble— Lowkey Important to ‘Verse

So I keep mentioning how a post-9/11 America directly mirrors the Cold War, and though it’s complicated to explain fully, I want to try to convey the basics of it. Warning for mentions of n@zis and general war/bad shit.

Note: this will be long, so click below to read!

Let’s start with WWII. USSR and US kinda hate each other, but meh, the n@.zis are way worse (well technically they took inspo from both other nations but that’s for later) so they shake hands and spill blood. Yay. The war’s won, which means we can now properly fistfight— well not really, because nuclear warfare is in its infancy, Europe is just fucked, and the US’s men are now boinking every broad they see, leading to the baby boom. No one really wants to have a WWIII, so the USSR and US stew. USSR develops (further) into an industrialist coalition of unwilling nations, and the US does its own imperialism and development. The next decades get… sticky, so bear with me.

1950s: The first hydrogen bomb is tested in 1950, the Korean War is a proxy-war for the USSR (North Korea) and the US (South Korea), and both the Space Race and Vietnam War begin, with SR being in ‘57 and VW in ‘59. The important thing here is the cultural change— modern ideals of ‘traditional’ are solidified here.

1960s: Ideally, Mafia 3 was a decent overview of general (and mildly romanticized) history, but during this era, the Vietnam War was in full swing (basically Korea part 2: the commies win), Civil Rights became a national debate, Cuban Missile Crisis and Bay of Pigs, and the USSR dropped the largest atomic bomb known to humanity. By the end of this era, the threat of MAD (mutually assured destruction) and increasing costs of outright feuding between both superpowers caused a lull in tensions for a while. Basically like WWII— “fuck you, but I’m broke and not crazy so I’m not gonna nuke you.” “Same.”— and now it’s time for…

1970s: Economic crash right off the bat for the US. Hell, there was very little economic prosperity on either side, and the 70s saw far less public tension than the past 20 years. But ‘Nam dragged on, people became far more restless, and the CIA (and FBI) was head-on against the KGB. Going to be honest, not a lot happens in regards to the Cold War in the 70s, but you know what does happen? The CIA peddles drugs to underfunded and over-policed neighborhoods, specifically the black community! Who would’ve guessed. (Yes, I’m being sarcastic, fuck the US government. Sorry Donovan, that includes you.) Also evangelism takes a hold on the former 60s hippies, and would take America in its clutches. It would actually lead to Ronald Reagan’s popularity in the 80s, but that’s its own can of worms.

Side note: Ronald Reagan funded the Taliban ( AKA the CIA did it and used Reagan as a front man) during the time periods 1979-1989. I will DEFINITELY discuss this in American Idiot! because John will have an… interesting response to discovering his president and coworkers funded one of the largest Afghani terrorist organizations. Anyone who says John would like Reagan is absolutely wrong and doesn’t understand John nor the history surrounding it. Anyway, back to the timeline.

1980s: Whoo boy, there’s a lot. But here’s the main things:

1981: Ronald Reagan is elected president of the United States. Find out how he radicalized American politics here!

1989: the Berlin Wall is destroyed in one of the most monumental moments in modern history

Also 1989: USSR withdraws from Afghanistan after Operation Cyclone

1990s: The USSR officially crumbles on December 8th, 1991, after 45 years. Boris Yeltsin becomes leader of the “Commonwealth of Independent States”, but I don’t know enough about that to say how that affects anything.

Now to 9/11! Again, warnings for terrorism (including wh!te supremac!st domestic terrorism) and general war discussions, as well as islamaphobia. School shootings will also be mentioned.

Late 1990s: With the USSR no longer a threat, the US seemed to prosper until a little something known as Jihadism reared its head. During the dispute between the USSR and the US, numerous extremist groups such as al-Qaeda rose to prevalence in a Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. During this time, both domestically and internationally-fueled terrorism occurred, the most notable being below.

Right-Wing Terrorism

Oklahoma City Truck Bombing (1995), one of the deadliest terrorist attacks on US soil at the time. Left 168 dead.

Eric Rudolph’s many acts (1996-1998), namely the Centennial Olympic Park Bombing, killing two and injuring 111.

Columbine School Shooting (1999), two teenagers, affiliated with neo- n@zi beliefs, shot up their school and then killed themselves. 13 people died, 12 students and 1 teacher (not including them).

Side note: General Ku Klux Klan actions were occurring alongside the other attacks, but as per usual, the federal government did barely anything to combat these hate crimes. To no one’s surprise.

“Lone Wolf”

The Unabomber Ted Kaczynski (1970s-1990s), mailed his targets more than a dozen bombs that killed three people and injured many others.

Jihadist

New York World Trade Center attack (1993), a failed attempt to bring down the trade center that left six people dead.

Attacks on Kenyan and Tanzanian US embassies (1998), more than 200 left dead after the simultaneous attacks.

2000s: This decade became the catalyst for the new McCarthyism— fear of “who’s a terrorist”. It’s a hectic, loaded decade with political turmoil, some of my favorite albums/songs ever, and a push for social equality much like the 1960s (albeit it would be far more prevalent in the 2010s-20s.) Here’s some of the key events.

2001: September 11th, 2001. The twin towers in New York City are destroyed by two planes, one plane crashes into the side of the Pentagon, and the last lands off-course when the passengers fought their captors (sadly, ending their own lives in the process). This becomes the biggest attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor, and leads to a boom in nationalistic fervor with many young adults joining the military. Bush’s response of immediate attack also caused much of the modern perception of this era, but that is too long to explain in a Tumblr post.

2002: France openly criticizes the United States’ response to terrorism, causing a spike in hatred against the French/Western Europe (that heavily would affect meme culture in the late 2000s-today). “French fries” becoming “Freedom fries” is frankly pretty stupid in hindsight, but it goes to show just how common it was to hate anyone who disagreed with the government— this can be seen strongly during Trump’s presidency.

2008: Obama becomes the first black president, and the Recession occurs. The Recession mimics what 1970s America faced, with rising gas prices and an outdated federal minimum wage.

2010s: It’s impossible to really summarize this era, but here is what I’ll say: the radicalization of the right due to the alt-right pipeline (online spheres), as well as Jihadist recruiting via social media, heavily resembles mid-60s tensions and late 70s/early 80s evangelism.

2020s (thus far): The United States after 11 years officially withdraws from Afghanistan on August 30th, 2021, directly mirroring the USSR’s withdraw post-Op Cyclone. Right-wing terrorism and “satanic panic” rises again through right-wing online platforms such as QAnon, and we’re right back to where we began. Turmoil, a divided nation of ideals, and the CIA being cunts. Truly, a second Cold War.

Personal anecdote: QAnon’s effect on baby boomers could very well lead to a resurgence of the KKK. Just saying that makes me unbelievably pissed, but unfortunately, those who denounce history for being too “woke” are doomed to become the villains to the next generation. I could go on about how the political right wing uses fear tactics and strawman arguments without ever truly acknowledging any beliefs outside their own, but meh, that’s its own topic.

RP Blog Masterlist

Figured I’d make a post with all my RP blogs, finished and not, so far! They all have roughly the same rules so if you’ve sent me a message proving you’ve read my rules for one, you’ve pretty much done that for all of them.

I’ll put these all under a cut in case this gets long.

@the-dead-gxrls - A blog for Lazari from Infected Town Case Files (and Unknown 9: Out of Sight, though the blog isn’t compliant with that), a woman cursed with immortality with a strange twist... Also features an OC named Salem, who was inspired by Lazari’s story but has her own storyline.

@stardays-travelers - A blog for Tara, Ry, Magazine, Quoto, and Vanni from Pacthesis’s Star Days Sim Date! Takes place in an AU where the ‘aliens’ are a little more human-to-the-left, though they are still human! They just evolved differently.

@gas-stxtion - A blog for six characters from the Tales From the Gas Station series, more specifically Jack, Jerry, Rosa, Amelia, Spencer, and Tony!! This also takes place in a canon divergent AU that diverges from canon after the first book.

-- IN REGARDS TO STEFANI SCOZZARI

( Also Known As, Stefani Scozzari in a more modern timeline )

Stefani’s ‘main’ FC is Anne Bancroft, who depicts her in Sal’s canon timeline. However because it’s hard to make quality caps of her movies without purchasing them ( because you know, with old movies you either have to pay or suffer from horrendous quality ) her alternate FC, who I will be depicting her with the most, is Julianna Margulies. Any thread that features her face is taking place in the modern day and she is definitely the mother to millennial Sal - who looks like this.

There are some major differences with Stefani in this verse, particularly in regards to what she does for money. Before Sal was born, she was working as a waitress at a social club ran by local mobsters. That’s where she met Sal’s dad, Franco. After Sal was born, she still showed up for work but had to walk away from that occupation because...

She was covering outrageous shifts and receiving pitiful amounts of tips ( due to the fact Sal’s dad was a rat. ) Sal was primarily in the custody of her parents, sleeping on their plastic-wrapped couch nightly. 

In 1996, the social club gets hit by undercover cops, and everyone in the building ends up arrested. Stefani included. Law enforcement tries to use Stefani for more intel in learning about the structure of the crime family, but she refuses since they aren’t offering her protection from the mafia, nor is she trying to be placed under witness protection since all of her family is in Brooklyn. That, and she was always raised to keep her mouth shut and turn the other way when it came to mafioso. 

This leads to Stefani working a few alternative jobs - still not enough to pay rent or buy a small kid the things he needs. So, she ultimately becomes affiliated with yet another front by the local crime family.  Now, in this case, Stefani is employed with a roofing company. She works as a telemarketer for the organization. The shift is yet again awful - and Sal is usually alone or with one of her boyfriends - but the check is great. She’s great over the phone.
