This has been talked about to death but.... the way every single otome route fulfills only one character at a time, and because of the way that the game is structured so that you have a pretty similar game experience each time with the "romance" scenes just kinda... added? it ends up letting you see just enough of the other characters tragedies to KNOW that they're always happening even when you're looking away.

And then you play BBL. And it just dumps on tragedy after tragedy. But they're ALL being addressed, ALL the birds have to face their demons, and it is SO SATISFYING

#if you dont play anghel or yuuyas routes they both die #if you dont play nagekis route he doesnt pass on; he has one person speak to him ONCE in his entire memory and then never come back #if you dont play ryoutas route hes left mourning alone.#sakuya never moves past his father. nanaki doesn't let go.#shuu... well shuu is not very impacted i dont think but he IS left plotting so thats bad for the rest of the world #hatoful boyfriend
