waiting for nagumo to return from missions was one of the worst, dreading times of your life. wondering if he was going to come back bloody and beat or come back at all. just like tonight, where you sat on the couch in your living room, attempting to focus on the show that was playing, but you couldn't. not when you were unsure if he was okay.

suddenly, you heard the front door lock click and the door slowly creaked open. you quickly jumped up off the couch and hurried to the door, seeing nagumo stumble inside gripping his side, his body bloody and bruised with some of his clothes torn.

"jesus, yoichi!" you exclaim, catching him before he hit the ground, letting out a short grunt at him fully leaning on you.

"sorry," he says in response, struggling to follow you to the couch and he plops down on his back. "i'm okay."

"let me get the first aid kit," you say, rushing to the bathroom and getting the first aid kit and getting back to nagumo. "what the hell happened?" you ask, crouching down in front of him and opening the first aid kit on the table.

"what usually happens," he answered.

you let out a sigh and pour some alcohol on a cotton ball before bringing it to his face and gently dabbing it on the cuts. "i know this is your profession and all, but don't you think you should start being more careful?"

nagumo shrugs lightly, wincing in pain at the cotton ball touching his cuts. "i'm an assassin, being careful could get me killed."

"and not being careful enough could get you killed as well," you tell him, taking the cotton ball away and grabbing some bandages. "just because you're an assassin doesn't mean you have to be careless. what do you think would happen if you didn't come back one day?"

"i don't know," he mumbles, already sulking at your scolding.

"something not good is what," you answer for him, lifting his shirt up and starting to wrap the bandages around his abdomen area. "i guess i'm just scared of losing you, and i don't want you to do something dumb out there."

you finish bandaging him up and he sits up, cupping your face in his hands as he looks at you. "you're not going to lose me, don't worry. i'll try being more careful from now on, i promise," he sags, pecking your lips.

"you better be serious about that," you grumble out.

"i am, trust me," nagumo responds. "now let's go to sleep, i'm exhausted."

"mhm, i'm sure," you nod your head as he pulls you down onto the couch on top of him.

"i love you, y'know," he says, gently running his hands through your hair.

"i love you too," you reply, your head resting on his chest.

nagumo presses a soft kiss to the top of your head before closing his eyes, almost immediately falling asleep which made you chuckle lightly. even when he was severely beaten and bruised he could fall asleep anywhere if he was tired enough.

Was having a convo with @akifordessert about Papagumo and the nicknames he'd give his kiddo(s). And thank you, Memi (@dearsecretlover) for inspo and motivation (and for sharing this Papa!gumo art by mxeong__) as always~!

But I digress! Here's the little scolding imagine I promised!

You: Nagumo! [c/n]! What the heck happened in the living room?! Nagumo looked around his surroundings. It was as if the usually orderly living room had two tornadoes sweep through it, an explosion of scattered toys everywhere, overturned furniture, ripped paper decorations, and colourful fingerprints adorning the walls. Nagumo & Your Toddler: (both in a kneeling position, getting scolded by you) Nagumo: (trying not to grin) [f/n], it's no biggie. Just some father-child bonding gone awry. [c/n], your rambunctious toddler, mirrored his pose perfectly beside him, eyes wide with feigned innocence that couldn't hide the sparkle of mischief dancing in their depths. Nagumo couldn't help but feel a swell of pride at his miniature accomplice's acting skills. You: Oh, really? Father-child? But I only see two children in front of me. Nagumo: Now, now! (holds hands up) See? No paint on my hands. (wiggles digits) Clearly, I'm just an innocent bystander here. You: Yeah, that doesn't help your case. You're the adult in this disorderly duo, or did you forget? Nagumo: I suppose cleaning duty falls upon us two, hmm? Let's clean up this mess before it becomes an international incident. He cast a conspiratorial wink at your toddler, who giggled delightedly at being included in their imaginary fellowship against their ever-so-serious parent. You: (sighs) Nagumo... I'm sick of having to be the mean parent--let alone adult--in this relationship. They have to learn how to clean up their own messes eventually, you know. Nagumo: You're right. We can't let them run wild like this. But it's just so hard to discipline this angelic face (tickles [c/n]'s chubby cheek, causing them to erupt into a fit of laughter, squirming happily). You: (unimpressed face) Nagumo: All right. (playful but stern enough tone) Focus, Agent [c/n], your mission, should you choose to accept it... Together, Nagumo and [c/n] tackled the mess, turning cleaning into a fun game of hide-and-seek with the scattered toys and art supplies.

Nagumo: (grabs a juice from the fridge) You: Nagumo! [c/n] doesn't need more sugar! Nagumo's grin widened into a smirk as your toddler took advantage of the situation and quickly gulped down the forbidden juice. Nagumo: Aw, shucks. Looks like we're too late. You: (narrowing eyes) If [c/n] doesn't end up learning anything, I'm going to discipline you both. In the 'mean parent' way. Nagumo: (clapping) All right, Agent [c/n]! Operation Clean Slate isn't complete until Big Boss says so. Your Toddler: (salutes and gets back to cleaning, hands and mouth sticky with juice) Nagumo: (grins and walks towards you) You know, [f/n], you were pretty convincing right then. I almost believed you'd actually punish me. You: (crosses arms) The day's still young. Nagumo: (leans down to whisper in your ear) Is that a promise?

Nagumo -

• nagumo first met you at the jcc through rion who was close friends with you and decided to introduce you to him

• from that moment on nagumo knew he wanted to be with you just off first glance, then you spoke and he calls it love at first sight

• at first nagumo was just curious about you, how you were able to fight so excellently, he wanted to know everything about you, so he asked rion a few times before she told him to just suck it up and ask you all the questions

• nagumo started liking you after he saw you take down a guy twice your size with ease, he knew from that point on that he wanted you to be his, and he wouldn't stop for nothing

• he started with subtle flirting, occasionally touching your shoulder or waist to move you aside or for him to get past, a lot of compliments that rion and sakamoto wanted to throw up over, and him being genuine with you

• nagumo is incredibly obvious that he has feelings for you, if you notice, then he'll ask you out on the spot, if you don't, he'll play the game a little longer

• if you realize quickly that he has feelings for you, confronting him will not work, he won't admit it cause he wants the confession to be perfect, so he'll make up some lie on the spot which leaves you confused

• though, rion likely told you first after getting annoyed that you were all nagumo talked about, telling you to please tell him if you have feelings too or not cause she can't stand him ranting about you 24/7

• so when you confront him for a second time, nagumo pouts knowing rion told you and confesses his feelings, lowkey annoyed that it was ruined but still happy nonetheless when you say you like him as well

• he hugged you so tightly when you said you liked him back, saying that even though the confession was ruined he'll make sure the first date is one you'll remember forever

Seba Natsuki -

• natsuki doesn't have a whole lot of friends, but when he accidentally walked into you because he wasn't paying attention and you immediately strike up a conversation with him, he starts to think maybe having a friend wouldn't be so bad

• so he agreed to be your friend and you two were from then on always around each other as friends, roaming the halls together and skipping classes

• natsuki didn't talk a whole lot to you, but he was glad he had somebody around to cure him of his boredom at the jcc

• natsuki started to like you when he was ranting about how his invisibility worked before realizing he was talking too much, going quiet when you told him, "it's okay, i like hearing you talk"

• he had never liked anyone before you, so he was unfortunately clueless on how to work the situation, he couldn't tell if you had feelings for him as well, and he didn't want to ruin the one and only friendship he had, so he kept quiet about it for a while

• but it was obvious with the lingering gazes he sent towards you, the hint of jealousy he showed when other guys flirted with you in front of him, and the protectiveness that grew the more he knew be liked you and didn't want you to get hurt

• if you notice these things, you'll have to confront him on it cause he won't admit it himself he would rather die than do that, if you don't notice he might go insane and force himself to tell you his feelings

• when he confesses his feelings to you, he looked up what were good ideas beforehand and resulted in him coming to you with a hand-written letter and a bouquet of flowers he remembered you liked, handing them to you and patiently letting you read the letter, worried that it would go wrong

• but when you smiled and told him you liked him too, he was dumbstruck, frozen in his spot as he tried to process what you said to him before a small smile formed on his face and he hugged you tightly, mumbling quietly how he's thankful you didn't hate him for liking you

• natsuki opened up to you a lot more after that, feeling comfortable with you unlike anyone else, and he was happy to be with you, he didn't think you liked him back, but he's very happy that you do

summary: prompt ("can't sleep?") from my 2.5k event

warnings: none!

for the past three hours you've been unable to get to sleep, staring up at the ceiling while your boyfriend slept like a rock beside you. you don't understand how he could fall asleep so fast and stay asleep when you could hardly get to sleep in general. you let out a huff of annoyance and rolled over onto your side, pulling the blanket up more and closing your eyes in an attempt to sleep.

that didn't work, you still couldn't get to sleep. you rolled over onto your back again and sighed, glancing at nagumo who was sleeping soundly. you tried closing your eyes again, and after about five minutes they opened again and you sat up in the bed, reaching over for your phone on the nightstand.

nagumo shifted next to you, slowly opening his eyes and seeing you turn on your phone. he blinked a few times and spoke. "why are you awake, baby? can't sleep?"

you jumped at suddenly hearing him speak, and you looked over at him, nodding. "i've been trying to sleep for hours. you're lucky."

"ah," he nodded. "did you want some tea? we might have some still," he asked, sitting up a little bit.

"if you don't mind," you replied.

"of course," he said, kissing your cheek before getting up out of the bed and leaving to the kitchen.

you looked back down at your phone, starting to scroll on social media as you waited for nagumo to return with hopefully tea and not some other random drink if there wasn't any tea. after about five minutes, he returned with a small cup of tea in his hands, slowly walking over to you and handing it to you. you put your phone down and grabbed it. "thank you," you said.

"no need to thank me," nagumo responded, walking back over to his side of the bed and laying down again. "you want me to put something on the tv?" he asked.

"no, that'll keep me awake," you shook your head. "just give me a few minutes to drink this and i'll go to sleep."

"i don't mind waiting," nagumo situated his arms behind his head as support. "take all the time you need."

you nodded silently, taking a sip of the tea and sighing softly. "what kind did we have?"

"i think it's just earl grey," nagumo answered. "i'm not sure, though."

"mm, didn't realize we still had it," you hummed, taking another sip. "good pick."

"it was all we had," he replied.

"oh."

"just kidding," he said with a laugh.

"ugh, you piece of crap," you gently shoved him.

"you love me~" he said in a singsong voice.

"you're lucky i do." you finished the tea and set it down beside you, laying back down beside him.

"i know!" he smiled, swiftly wrapping his arms around you and pulling you close to him, chest to chest. "if you still can't sleep you can nap throughout the day and i'll still sleep with you!"

"you could sleep for days if you wanted," you replied.

"only if it's with you!" he smiled.

"wow, that was cheesy."

"just for you!"

Shishiba's eyes nearly glossed over, his patience hanging by a thread, while Osaragi let out a silent sigh so long he wondered if she'd stopped breathing - or just needed a reboot. He'd check, but the throbbing in his skull had become a more pressing concern.

Nagumo, blissfully or purposefully oblivious, continued reading the tweets aloud with a level of enthusiasm that could only be described as obnoxious.

Nagumo looked up from his phone, his pout almost theatrical. "But I've barely made it through a quarter of them!"

Osaragi, without a word, reached for her circular saw, her expression dark and promising violence.

For a moment, Shishiba entertained the idea of letting her have at it. But with a heavy sigh, he raised a hand to stop her.

Nagumo went on for several more tweets before a certain senior arrived at the scene.

Takamura's fingers rested lightly on the hilt of his katana, a flick of his thumb sending the blade's edge glinting just enough to warn - and to promise.
