I. // When apart Sai makes the effort to draw her little pictures from his day, to draw her things she’d find interesting or funny, && he’d send them to her. These brighten Temari’s day considerably && also helps them keep a bond even when the distance is there.  She also sends him interesting things from Suna for him to draw. 

II. // They both had a childhood that prioritizes lack of emotions for the benefit of the mission, && while Temari has begun to open up considerably she understands. SHE UNDERSTANDS HIM, && he understands her blunt ‘crulty’ how she’s relentless when it comes to her missions. I honestly feel like these two would understand each other be it romantic or platonic. They would understand each other feelings when it came to their brothers. (

Also platonically they are the outsiders in the inoshikacho) Sai is still considered an undesirable because of his association with root not everyone trusts him to start, && Temari is a foreign sand ninja that once invaded the leaf, they yet here they are trying to build something, there’s no way they wouldn’t be each other support.)

III. They would be so fucking soft it melts my heart, they would fall into a friendship && from that the longest slow burn ship emerges.  It would be so gentle && peaceful

Gaiden

Sai and Temari have tea regularly, not like the normal yamanaka nara get togethers, they carve out special time just for them. They like to sass everyone without filters and laugh. It’s Sai’s favourite time of the week. 

Since Sai is a close advisor to Naruto who handles special assignments only, he usually goes to Temari when he needs help. He’s not afraid to ask for help in his adult years, and she’s the one who has the most ability to help him with her husband living in the city and coming home much more than Naruto. Her long range fighting style also compliments his close range very well. 

Whenever Sai has a thought he know he’d get yelled at for he sends an ink bird for Temari because he knows she’ll laugh. It’s always mean. So mean. 

Romantic

While they rarely show affection in public, they are almost constantly holding hands. They’ll literally just hold hands and ignore each other for hours. 

They use sparring as foreplay way too much. They both get upset when they lose and that just spirals out of control for both of them. On a side note; no one can stand to train with them anymore

They often go fly around on his ink birds or float on her fan or whatever where they say way too sweet things. It’s the only time those things are said outside their homes.

They had at least THREE mother fucking kids. they’re all loved and adorable and they’re way too happy.

They had been sitting together for HOURS. So much time had passed, where both DEADLY ninjas simply sat side by side. Only speaking occasionally, both just enjoying the silence && PEACE of each others company.

Temari wasn’t even sure she could pinpoint the exact MOMENT, Sai shifted, laying HIS head upon her lap. Nor could she say, just WHEN her nimble fingers started to trace invisible patterns in HIS dark locks. But this was peaceful, it felt right. 

Noticing his body, STARTING to drift,  his eyes blinking in an effort to stay awake, a WARMNESS swept through her. Hitting her with an uncontrollable SENSE of love.  Bending over, her lips MET his forehead, cold as always, before moving once more to capture his lips. the words “Goodnight” Where whispered against his lips.

Eyes followed the leaf shinobi’s gaze to where the recently reunited team 7 stood. The desert kunoichi wasn’t even sure these words were supposed to be heard by anyone, least of all her. Still, despite what others might say, she was NOT completely heartless. && In some vague way could even find herself sympathizing.  Unsurity clung to her actions, though she masked them well, hands moved to gently grasp the other's shoulder, SILENTLY && delicately. - No words passed between the shinobi, but maybe that was for the best. She just hoped this was enough for him to know he wasn’t alone.
