So in February I drew Eiko in a Sailor Moon AU (a.k.a. Sailor Blood Moon), art which I haven't posted here and have archived on Instagram bc it's sadly a little ugly. 😔 So here is the AU again but in the manga artstyle.

This AU remains a favourite of mine, and I've also had the itch to study Naoko Takeuchi's artstyle for a really long time, bc I honestly think her style is gorgeous. The way she colours and shades is especially beautiful imo, and I wanted to emulate her style for the comeback of this AU, instead of drawing in the 90s' anime artstyle like I did with the art from February.

I am begging the Sailor Moon fandom to stop sleeping on Naoko's breathtaking artistic skills and yes I know about the fuckass proportions but jokes on you I like the fuckass proportions. They're iconic atp

Also in the manga there is some art of the characters in this chibi style in some pages, so I drew some for Eiko too! I like the sailor senshi one, but the civillian one feels like I didn't get the style quite right. I'm too tired to try to fix it, so I'm posting it anyway.

The Ail and An Arc isn't filer!

I'm dead serious.

Whenever an anime is an adaptation of a manga, anime fans are so used to labelling anything not featured in the manga as 'filler' they do so without thinking.

Filler is called 'filler' because it is superfluous. It is filling in time and is therefore skippable. The reason we have 'filler free' lists for various anime is specifically so people can watch an anime and follow the main plotline in a speedier manner.

The problem with labelling the Ail and An arc as filler is that you absolutely HAVE to watch it to follow the main narrative!

Alright, not literally ALL 13 episodes. But you for sure need to watch some of the episodes. There is simply NO WAY you can jump from the end of the Dark Kingdom arc in season 1 to the debut of Chibi-Usa in season 2/Sailor Moon R without feeling lost.

Season 1 of the anime concludes with Usagi, Mamoru and the Inner Senshi not remembering their adventures as super heroes nor their relationships with one another. If someone jumped from that to the first episode of the Black Moon Clan arc they'd either be confused about or need to headcanon the following:

How and when did Usagi and the gang remember their lives in season 1

How and when did Usagi and Mamoru get together?

How and when did Usagi get this new 'Moon Crystal Power' transformation and this new 'Moon Princess Halation' attack?

Whilst it is true the Ail and An arc is nowhere to be found in the manga, there is no end of elements in the 1992 anime which are also not to be found in the manga that the fandom en masse doesn't label as filler.

All those are iconic plot relevant to the over arching storyline of the first season alone and none of it is in the manga, not even in a 'squint and you will see it' kind of way.

I will also add that some episodes of Ail and An arc are skippable but do great character work in their own right. The Usagi and Mamoru babysitting episode for example subtly foreshadows what the rest of the season will revolve around, namely Usagi and Mamoru's relationship with their own child, Chibi-Usa.

I genuinely don't remember WHEN exactly I started using Usagii as my name (because of the amount of accounts I've deleted) but the inspiration I took when choosing that name for myself came from my adoration of Sailor Moon at a time when I was interested in watching magical girl anime compared to my typical shonen. Albeit I still haven't watched Sailor Moon because of my own laziness, I liked her character a lot so, bam, took the name as my own.

1) I was a minor when I chose this name, for starters, and I've never bothered to change it because I think it's cute. Not to mention this was a time my main interest was Chang'e from LMK and Nezha, and her theme with the rabbits are adorable, and rabbits are funny, evil creatures, so...yeah. that's why I chose the stupid name

2) This isn't the first time I've technically used a Japanese alias online. On my Wattpad, I went through various other names like Sora, Nao, Jun, etc until I gave up and settled for my last name, Ali.

3) How in the lord's good name do you expect me to know or have realized the name Usagi is used in the child p**n industry? Maybe YOU spend your time there pal, but definitely not me. I picked my name from Sailor Moon damn it

4) There's no way you're an idiot. Has it ever occurred to you to actually check my accounts properly? Most of my icons are picrews of ME, this recent one being a cute chibi picrew I found. Sometimes I use fanarts my friends have made for me as well. Even on my discord, I heavily avoid using fictional children icons because I'm aware of the content I write and it gives me the creeps to use an icon of a fictional child when I'm a grown ass adult that writes smut to pass the time
