Honest Opinion - Sagitta Ptolemy
Tumblr media
He might have the most absurd name change I’ve ever seen (shortly followed by Micene). Betelgeuse.  Why.  It’s even more difficult than Ptolemy, for a native Italian speaker, why did this happen.
Overall score (character, not looks): 8/10
Ok, I mostly liked this character. He appeared for what, five seconds, and successfully shot a golden arrow in Saori’s chest. I cheered with no shame at that.  But, come on, how can you be so stupid as to give away your identity before attacking!
Ptolemy, despite losing way too quickly in the fight against the Bronzes, actually completed his task. He attacked, and it worked. He’s been clever, with his technique, but he’s also been absolutely stupid.  He could have easily tricked the entire group with no almost no effort, instead of blowing up his cover to fight them face to face.
I get it, Saints have their cute obsession for honorable fights and whatnot, but seriously. Stab Saori with the golden arrow when nobody is paying attention, because they were all fixated on the temple, and fucking run.  He was serving Arles, for god’s sake. I don’t think he should have acted so recklessly.
[Dub digression]
I like his voice actor, but I don’t like that voice on him. It seems wrong, I don’t know why.
He is voiced by Giovanni Battezzato, a voice actor I’ve already mentioned in Centaurus Babel’s entry, and if you’re curious to listen here’s the video: Dodici Case in 12 Ore
[End of the dub digression]
But, overall, he got his temporary victory, which is something that rarely happens with Silver Saints. So he deserves a high score, maybe more than anyone else.
I also loved how, as he was dying, Ptolemy told the Saints how to save Saori, by letting them know they had 12 hours before the arrow would pierce her heart. Something that, at least in my opinion, showed he was still faithful to his goddess, rather than closely following Arles.  He followed his orders with no hesitation, but also aided the Bronze Saints with a small, but significantly important gesture.
