AI Behavior:

Will stand a considerable distance from the enemy and party both, though still within range for most friendly spells, heals and shields to effect him.

He is a balance between safe and risky when an enemy’s AOE skill drops over him--as long as his teammates aren’t also pulled into it, he is known to spend the extra second or two just to make sure he can finish a combo or lay down any sick debuffs.

Depending on the number of enemies per pull (3+), he will spam AOE attacks such as quick-nock and rain of death, especially when combined with any buffs that increase his overall damage output. 

For groups of 2 or less enemies, he favors single-target attacks and keeping up debuffs such as causticbite and stormbite.

When a stack marker of any sort is put onto him, Samilen tends not to move at all and instead lets his team come to him. This isn’t because he’s too stubborn to move, but more because he doesn’t want to be caught in a situation where he is running in one direction and the others on his team is trying desperately to catch him in a mad dash to stack.

The above may vary depending on how far from his team he is.

Even if there is an lb3 sitting unused for the entirety of a battle he will never use it, keeping it an open resource for the healer to use if things go down hard. He won’t really get mad if anyone else uses it, not vocally at least. But he’ll stare really hard at you.

Though technically a bard, he rarely uses many of his singing skills if only because he’s a bit rough with them--he hasn’t tried to sing in a long while, and the few times he has it has only been to himself. He’ll certainly use them in a pinch, but it’s best to let him stick to his non-singing abilities.

Battle Lines:

Note: In high-stress situations like battle, Samilen will shift between audible voicelines and handspeak (sign language). Though it may often seem like a bug if you don’t hear a voiceline from him, if you pay close attention to his character animation you might be able to see him rapidly signing the line instead.

BONUS:

while idle, sometimes you can spot the animations of Samilen self-stimming. Though this is often via his hands pulling through or otherwise tugging at his hair, you may also sometimes catch him strumming gently at the string of his bow.

despite keeping a distance from teammates while actively in combat, Samilen tends to keep very close to them otherwise without realizing it. He rarely participates in banter between other teammates, but sometimes you’ll be able to catch him indirectly taking part--laughing, smiling or otherwise showing an appropriate expression on his face.
