A/n: since you didn't specify the scenario I went with this I hope you like it.

Sae knew she loved you, she was incredibly happy with you as her boyfriend but lately she felt as if even that didn't convey the love she felt for you, she felt like she needed to do more to show you how happy and loved you made her.

After a lot of thinking and talking with makoto she decided to ask you to marry her, she knew you were the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with and while it wasn't traditional she didn't want to wait for you to do it.

She took on more cases than usual and the ones that paid more to have enough money to buy you a ring, even if she hated not being able to see you as much and having to work more, she knew it would be worth it.

She decided to propose to you in a very classic way, she invited you to an expensive restaurant recommending you to wear nice clothes.

And so you wore a suit and went to the place she told you where you saw her waiting for you on a table in a beautiful dress.

"You look stunning sae"

"Thank you, you look quite handsome yourself y/n"

"I'm glad you invited me here, it's been a while since we had a date"

"I apologize. I got caught up in work I hope this is enough to make it up"

During the meal you noticed that sae seemed distracted about something but not wanting to pry waited until it was finished to ask. After eating and paying the bill ( which sae insisted to do) she asked you to take a walk in a park, you took this opportunity to hold her hand the whole time.

"The moonlight looks beautiful tonight, don't you think?"

"Y-yes it does"

"......Is something wrong babe?"

"N-no, why?"

"I don't know you looked distant and distracted today, if there's anything you want to tell me I'm here"

Your words made her face blush, and her heart beat faster, she remembered all of the reasons why she wanted to marry you and gained newfound determination to do it.

"Actually there is something I wanted to tell you"

"Go ahead and tell me then, that's why I'm here"

To your surprise, she got on one knee and pulled a small box out of her pocket that, when opened, revealed a beautiful ring.

"Meeting you has been one of the best things that happened to me, I have never felt more happiness than when I'm with you, I love you more than words could possibly express and want to spend the rest of my life with you, so will you marry me and become my husband?"

You felt like crying from joy at your girlfriend's proposal, but instead, you hugged her tightly and answered.

The train car is nearly empty. So your eyes watch the windows- noting the small flashes of light in the tunnel as the subway speeds by. 

  Every couple of seconds, you see one. It lights up your view- just for a moment. But in that moment. You can see your reflection. You can see the reflection of what’s just right beside you too. Even though you've been trying really, really, really hard this entire time not to look at her. But it’s hard. It’s so hard when all you can see, and feel and think about in the empty train is the shoulder pressed next to yours and the head that’s starting to hang dangerously low.

  Must be low enough to rest on your shoulder by now, right-?

  You shake your head and sigh quietly. It’s been a long day for the both of you. That much you can tell. Because even though you both live in the same direction, Nijima doesn’t ever ride the subway with you. Never. And yet, as you were packing up to leave the office after pulling another late night, she asked if she could join you. 

  Of course, she followed it off with an offhand remark about having to take her car into the shop just this morning and how “it still wasn’t done” despite being promised something else when she dropped it off. And of course, your hopes were a little dashed, and your spirit was a little crushed now that you realized that this wasn’t your co-worker attempting to reach out and get to know you. But you aren’t surprised. That’s just how she was.

  Although she’s only a few years older than you, you remember hearing rumors and whispers about her and her work ethic while you were finishing the last of your schooling. Though back then, you didn’t expect that you’d be hired at the Tokyo District Special Investigation Department in the Public Prosecutors Office. And you certainly didn’t expect to be working alongside a giant like in your first couple months after being hired. But one thing you did expect? Her being exactly like her rumors. Harsh and cold yet professional and polished. Ruthless and strict, but ultimately? Something to behold. Something to admire. Something you should aspire to be.

  Though, you know not every shares the same feelings as you do. In fact, your other coworkers would tell you more of the negatives (and only the negatives) in passing. You were still the new here. Still wet behind the ears and a little green with just about everything. But most people had enough trust in you to tell that you wouldn’t go blabbing about any little slipped complaint about Nijima that was dropped here and there. On the way to the bathroom, someone would tell you about how Nijima all but yelled at someone in a conference room. On the way back from the printer, someone would tell you about how Nijima just gave someone else an impossible deadline. 

  You’d just smile and nod- unsure of what to do or what to say as you finish your own assigned work at your cubicle. It’s the same way you’d react when someone would drop another stack of papers on your desk right before you were set to go home. The same way you react when someone asks you very, very nicely if you could do it all and have it done and on their desk before everyone gets in tomorrow morning.

  You shouldn’t be a pushover. You know, you know. You’ve been hearing the same things for the longest time. From your family. From your friends. From your professors. From just about everyone. But if you’re not exactly the best at telling people close to you how you really feel. You’ve never been. And so, nobody gets told off by you for constantly passing their work off to the fresh blood on the block. Nobody gets to hear your rant about how much you hate gossip. But most of all, nobody gets to hear you say how much you don’t want to hear what piece of gossip they have about Nijima this time. Nobody.

  After all, nobody seems to like her in this office. No one, that is, except you.

  The train car is nearly empty. There must have been twelve people in total when you both got on and took the long trek back home. Now it’s just five, including the two of you. They’re barely taking up seats. They’re barely taking up air. But out of all the open spots on this train she chose to sit next to you.

  She chose to sit next to you.

  But not just next to you. She chose to sit shoulder to shoulder. Chose to place her bag in her lap and squish in real close as if it were rush hour. But it’s not. The train car is near empty, and your cheeks warm up at the memory of her sitting down beside you. Embarrassingly so. 

  But Nijima is too busy struggling to keep her eyes open to care. She’s tired. Hell, you’re tired too. You’re not the one whose head is dripping down and down and down. You’re not the one who jerks up every couple of seconds- trying to keep their composure when they ultimately wake up again after dozing off slightly. You’re not the one with the guardrails up. Constantly offering protection when all things- good or evil. 

  But arguably, neither is she right now. 

  The walk to the train station was quiet. But she did talk to you about her sister. And she did talk about a restaurant she thought you might like. And she did ask you what you thought about a big case that was just handled not too long ago. She did all the things your co-workers said she wouldn’t do. She was pleasant. Enjoyable to be around. And she didn’t make everything about work. But most of all? She was being vulnerable.

  Because the Sae Nijima you’re seeing out of the corner of your eye and in the reflection of the train car’s window isn’t the same Sae Nijima that you heard about in your old classmate's rumors. The Sae Nijima you’re sitting shoulder to shoulder with on a train back home isn’t the same Sae Nijima that you hear your new co-workers gossip about. It just isn’t. Rather, it’s a different kind of Sae Nijima. A type of Sae Nijima you selfishly can’t help but want to hide away and keep all to yourself. A secret you don’t want to spread. A secret you don’t want to share. 

  For your sake. But also for hers too.

Because the woman beside you right now? It’s still your co-worker. Still the legendary and infamous Sae Nijima. But it’s a version of her that is silent, but not unwilling as you gently bring your arm up and guide her head to rest on your shoulder. A version of her that only grumbles about making you promise that this never happened. A version of her that ultimately leaned in a little bit closer and closed her eyes.

  A version of her that was willing to do so for the entire rest of the ride.

Futaba

While Futaba is happy that you enjoy cooking for her, she'll probably never ask you to make curry. There's just something very nostalgic and special about Sojiro's curry. Even if you make it amazingly, it's not the same.

Will happily ask you to make her different things though if you really do want to cook her food.

Honestly, Futaba might bring up the idea of you working at Le Blanc so there's more of a menu besides just various coffee and curry. Then again, that means less time for you to cook for her so she might pout a bit if you consider the offer.

Hifumi

Hifumi really appreciates you cooking for her. I feel like depending on where she's at in her confidant is how she'll react to the cooking itself rather than the gesture. Her mom gives vibes of "you should diet so you look good on TV" before the change of heart.

So, because headcanons, she probably doesn't always eat what you make since she does want to make her mother happy. Until she decides to rebel/her mom's heart is changed and she'll gladly eat your cooking and thank you so much for making such delicious food.

There have been many times when she is deep in being a chuunibyou while practicing Shogi that she forgets to eat so she's very thankful to have you already to make sure she does. Probably asks you to play with her as practice, even if you're not good at it, she still would like a round with the ultimate chef (what she calls you during these matches).

Kawakami

Oh she appreciates your cooking so much. With how busy she is with lesson plans and grading papers and things like that, she doesn't always have time to make a nice lunch or dinner for herself.

Gladly has you in charge of the cooking since you like it so much. She'll take care of cleaning.

Might pout at you or shoo you away if you try to bring her food while she's at school. Yes, it's very cute, but she teaches teenagers that will absolutely tease the crap out of her. Go wait in the teacher's lounge or something, it's okay if the food gets cold. She does not need to hear "ooh's" and "aah's" from the brats in her class.

Sae

She's also one that is pretty busy with her work most days so she doesn't always have the time to make herself a good meal. Makoto usually helps with dinner, but she appreciates when you take over cooking.

Sae will want to return the favor by taking you out somewhere nice. She knows that your cooking is really good, but sometimes it's nice to take a break from cooking and eat at a restaurant together.

If you ever showed up at her work with food then she'll be a bit flustered, but thank you a lot as she takes it from you. Thankfully, with her job, she doesn't have to deal with too many of her coworkers teasing her over the loving gesture so she'll happily take the lunch you made her and kiss your cheek before saying she'll see you at home.

So, after some thinking... I have decided to add Persona 5 adults to the mix of characters I'll write. I feel like, they're often times overlooked.

-Sae isn't huge on public showcases of affection. She prefers to keep her prosecutor image untouched. Even in private, she isn't huge on physical contact... At first that is. After, some time in the relationship, cuddling becomes a mandatory. It becomes her way to relax at the end of day. And, forehead kisses. She starts to doing them, whenever she walks past you or leaves for work. Easy and quick, reminder for you that she cares.

-She is a workaholic. She will do long days in her office, even at home she will have her laptop open with paperwork near. She will appreciate it, if you bring her coffee, or sit near her while she works. She appreciates the support you offer to her, especially the small things.

-She is supportive of you, no matter how busy she is. She will always make time for you, try at least. If, she can't be there for you in person she will call you or send messages.

When you guys first meet, she's a little wary of you

But once you start seeing her more often, she comes to trust you

You spend most of your time at the church playing shogi with her

As a prosecutor, she is always impartial and unbiased, so she gives great advice

Sae is very touch starved, as she is always very busy with work, so she loves cuddling and being held by you

Before, she won't be around a lot and she'll be a little grumpy about things that happened at her job

Post maxed link, she'll be happier and more energetic, but she still won't see you very much due to continuing her focus on helping others

Either way, she'll need you to be there for her

She needs a shoulder to cry on and someone to vent to about her stress and worries about patients, medicines, etc.

She can't disclose patient records, but she will tell you her worries about a type of medicine or a healing process or procedure

She'll relax once you hug her though

Sae nijima

Dating sae can be a bit hard at the beginning, she's not used to showing emotions or vulnerability, so it might seem like she doesn't want to be with you but she actually loves you a lot.

She's incredibly overworked, so she doesn't really have a lot of time for dates but when she does she likes classic dates like going out to dinner or just relaxing inside.

I feel like she's the type to bring you roses or other small romantic things, especially to apologize for having to work when you had a date planned or something similar.

Like I said earlier she works a lot so she'd love it if you did some stuff for her, if she comes home late to a hot dinner and affirmations of love she'll genuinely consider marrying you on the spot.

Sae likes to make you hang out with makoto so you can get to know each other, you and her are the most important people in her life so she'd love it if you two to get along.

Tae takemi

Tae is a great girlfriend she loves you and she'll make sure you know it, she's the complete opposite of sae when it comes to that.

She'll regularly compliment and tease you about literally anything she can think about, she can aomehow turn any conversation topic into a comment about how cute you are.

She also loves physical affection and she'll tease you a lot in that way too, even outside. She's the type to touch your thigh while you're sitting, leave black lipstick marks or hickeys on you to mark you or just randomly hugging you very close to her chest.

She's pretty overworked, too, definitely not at sae's level but there are days when there are more patients than usual so she doehave time to hang out with you but luckily you can just book fake appointments with her to hang out(she doesn't mind)

The good thing about having a doctor as a girlfriend is that she's the best at taking care of you when you're sick, she'll give you all the right medications and other methods she knows will help, the downside is that she'll tease you 10 times more than usual cause you're so vulnerable(she's disappointed she can't kiss you though)

Note(s): I made this more general with S/O listening to their favorite song just so it's more of a reader insert than being too specific. I did have S/O listening to a song in English though since I think that'd be fun.

Iwai

Kaoru has listened to some songs in English a bit so he's listened to it. And he knows a tiny bit of English thanks to his time in the Yakuza, but that doesn't mean he completely understands what's being said.

He's in another room when he hears your voice. At first, he thinks you're calling out to him, but then he goes to check on you and finds you're singing along to whatever song you're listening to.

Iwai can't help a chuckle at your singing. It's good, but it's also such a cute thing to catch you doing. Might walk by to pat you on the head before going back to whatever he was doing.

Maruki

Doesn't listen to English music that often, but he does enjoy the beat and the singer that you're listening to. Can't help a smile as you're singing along too.

He's not the most knowledgeable when it comes to music, but he does think you're really good at singing. He'll compliment you later because he doesn't want to interrupt and embarrass you or anything.

Probably ends up adding whatever song you're singing to his own playlist. He might not know what the lyrics mean, but the song seems to make you happy and that's good enough for him.

Sae

She knows a good bit of English and has hummed to herself a few times while a song had been playing in the background. So she doesn't mind when you're playing your music. It's different from what she's used to, but she listens to it and likes what she hears.

And then she hears you singing along while she's organizing her files and notes for a new case. Sae can't help a smile at how happy you are and she's glad that you're a good singer.

"Mind turning it down a bit, love?" She'd ask you softly. She's happy that you're happily singing, but she is pretty busy most of the time even when she's at home. She'll ask you to sing to her another time to make up for it.

Yoshida

He's recognized some of the words and lyrics in some of your music before. It's not quite his kind of music, but he does enjoy it and how happy you seem.

He's putting together his own notes one day and he hears your music and your voice in the background. It's a nice comforting noise before he realizes that you aren't talking on a phone, you're singing.

"You sound great, my heart," Yoshida would say and give you a bright smile before going back to his work. Even if you weren't a good singer, he'd still compliment you.
