J.R.R. Tolkien should have told the story of SadLeaf.  

SadLeaf was a cypress tree Ent, who lived all alone in this little body of water that nobody bothered with, really.

Tom Bombadil hadn’t been by in years.

The Hobbits didn’t have a name for it.

The Wizards didn’t have a story about it.

The Orcs didn’t despoil it.

The Rangers didn’t drink from it.

It was just...nothing, really.  None of the Elves passed by it, the Dwarves didn’t take particular notice of it...it was just this little pond out in the middle of nowhere with a sad, lonely tree man watching over it. 

SadLeaf.

He was This Pond Ent.
