What did you do on Friday night? Had a 5 hour long, tear filled conversation with Laura. Ate a bunch of cookies. Cried some more. Went to sleep...very entertaining. If yes, what? Yes, to the bulb of the hydrangea flower...random as shit, I know. &&Also by saddlesnsapphires: What is your ultimate riding goal? Conmpete for the United States in the Olympics. Post a photo of description of your dream horse: 17hh, chestnut with at least 1 stocking and 2 socks, big mover, Rhinelander, Westphalian, Hanoverian or Thoroughbred, very personable and friendly, great work ethic, slightly arrogant & bullish personality, GP potential, 9 years old or younger, calm on the ground/easy to handle but hot under saddle. What present do you want this Christmas? A computer. Your favourite piece of clothing? My Kerrits full-seats. What is something you want to achieve but never have? Riding a nearly perfect test. What do you think of giving green horses to young riders? Depending on the trainer they have it can either make them or break them. It worked with Prima and I. If you had $50,000 what would you do with it if you had to spend it today? Pay for college for my younger brother & I and give what's left to my mom. What makes a good rider? Passion, determination, a thirst for learning, balance, respect of the horses, other riders, & trainers, softness/subtlety, preciseness, and effectiveness. Your favourite colour for bay horses (hehe I want more colours for max): Royal blue, teal, white, mint green, lilac, baby blue. Do you want to go to the Olympics? Why/why not? Yes, I want to compete in the Olympics for dressage. Big dreams, yeah?

What prompted you to start riding?

I was raised with race horses and since they were standardbreds non were broke to ride and I always wanted to ride so I found my first coach, rode with her for a few months, stopped tiding for 3 years and then started riding Danza and Stink 2 years ago.

Story behind your URL?

I'm a dressage rider, lol.

What’s one thing you would like to do/try before you die?

I want to go skydiving, white water rafting, hunting(will be next year) and mountain climbing. Couldn't choose just one. :D

Favorite band/singer?

Um, I think I'd have to say Emblem3 for my favourite band and Brad Paisley for favourite singer.

One thing you’re excited for in the upcoming months?

Hopefully start reining and working on possible teaching Danza to barrel race or rein.

What do you think are the highlights and low lights of being an equestrian?

It's always a high entering the ring, in my opinion. I find it really shitty having a bad ride/show/lesson.

Favorite book and author?

I can't remember what the book is called but it was about a guy who got out of jail and his girlfriend was waiting for him and then she kills herself and his life is bad for a while and then his 'father' looks out for him and he ends up writing a few movies and having a decent life. And I don't have a favourite author. 

What’s your best friend’s name?

Sam, but I call her Sammy.

I'm going to steal your idea if that's okay.. :P Also can we know a little more about your new lease?? She is just stunninggg, and don't worry bucking means character ahaha :P

Winnie is a steel grey (probably going to grey out more though) Canadian Warmblood mare. She is 4 years old, 16hh, built like an absolute tank, a total powerhouse, and her head is almost as big as me! [well, my upper body anyways haha] And she is still growing. :P She really loves cuddles, and pretty good manners on the ground. Occasionally tries to nip while being tacked up, but nothing serious. Under saddle, Winnie can be a little lazy, but when she gets going she covers sooooooooo much ground it feels like you are racing haha. She tried to buck me off today, but when her owner saw that she said “well thats about as bad as she has ever been haha.” Also, she pretty much doesn’t spook - and when she does all she does is either look at it or if it surprises her she takes a few steps sideways. She is the type of horse who needs to be ridden 5 days a week, otherwise she gets bored and starts to throw her weight around. Also, she is very….. quirky….

-she can open stalls/gates, and will open them if she gets the chance

-if she gets hot/really tried while you are riding, she will lie down. she waits for you to get off before she rolls though!

-if there is water/puddles, she will try to roll in it

-she doesn’t like wind

-she is ok with all animals but will chase pigeons if she see them in the arena

-if she gets bored, she will jump out of her stall

-if you are free lunging are the partition door in the arena is open she will jump out

-when you are doing dressage and she decides she is bored with it, she will jump anything that is set up in the arena

So yea! There is a short story on the life of Winnie haha.

I couldn't help but notice you mention each time about how GT likes to stop and is a nervous horse? But you seem to ride him so well into it he hardly stops! I have the exact same problem! My horse is very bauky and jumps frighten him, it's s shame because he loves to jump.. I realise all I can do is put my leg on and push him into it, renforce it if he hesitates, but I too, tend to hold him back in fear of him stopping (and he does) how do you stop yourself from doing that and pushing forward?

Yeah you don't really see how much he actually stops because I never mention it on here ;) But I've only fallen off him twice this year! ha!

But yeah it's a real problem, which strangely has only formed over the past few months. I pretty much have to tell myself every time I come up to a jump "keep your legs on and your hands still, hands STILL, you DO NOT need to check", and even then I still do it sometimes. It seems to help me if I lower my hands down closer to his wither a bit (not really the most ideal place to have them, but it stops the jerk-jerk-jerk that I do).

It's pretty much a mind game, just be switched on 100% of the time and eventually it should come naturally (I hope!!)

saddlesnsapphires is one of my closest friends. Not only is she an absolutely fantastic person but she's an incredible horsewoman as well. She's super sweet and I genuinely love talking to her. Maxamilliondollars is such a great horse and she does so well with him. I look up to her as a rider and I would love to be as good of a person and rider as she is<3 Love you, Kirst!
