I haven’t been active in fandoms because I know it can be very unhealthy, due to my love for ereri I’ve been on tumblr a lot lately. You seem one of the few chill people here, I recently found some accounts that are legit super salty, rude and act so entitled as chap comes out. It make me feel sadanxious, is it common in this fandom? I mean, at the end of the day this is a work of fiction that we should enjoy and love as we please, life is bad as it is, why are people so mean about these things?

Hi, anon! My reply is late I know, but I wanted to take my time answering you. 

I don’t blame you for being inactive in fandom, because fandom lately has been a real clusterfuck and now that communities are mostly on twitter, phew, the purists are jumping out and you have tweets with the worst takes having thousand of notes. But anyway… 

Welcome to the community, my love for ereri also has me here! And lol, thanks for thinking that I’m chill, I wasn’t that chill when the chapter was out tho since I did make some posts salting about it, but I mostly try to no bother anyone, because I know firsthand what it feels to be kicked out of your bubble by negative comments. Although I don’t stop anyone to do that? at the end, everyone post what they want on their own blog.

I think that every fandom has its salty apples, because there’s people that, for some reason, like to hate read or simple don’t like the story anymore but continue reading because they want to know the ending or something. I think fandom culture have taught people to be rude, even when they’re happy lol. I try to not navigate too much in the tags because I know I’m gonna end mad, but when I do visit them, I block every blog that makes my blood boil, haha, it’s my philosophy: ignore and block.

Entitled people always exist, but I’m of an opinion that fans have the right to at least show their discomfort when a chapter doesn’t meet their expectations, but of course some people don’t have tact and their approach to these issues is to be rude and bitchy creating a toxic environment, but as I said, the best you can do is block these people and don’t let them dictate your experience in fandom.

It is just a manga, yeah, but we have spend hours of our live invested on it and there’s nothing sadder when you know the potential but it’s not been meet. I personally didn’t like the recent chapter but that doesn’t mean that I hate the story now or that I have been wasting my time with it, I just wish that everything that have been happening was executed better but alas, it is what it is.
