Sam brandished his spatula at Gabriel. “Because you’re low on grace. Just deal with it and help mix the next set of batter.”

Gabriel huffed a sigh dramatically, but continued to follow the written recipe. He honestly knew why he couldn’t just whip up breakfast himself, but it would still be so much easier than this. Especially cooking for the whole bunker as it was.

Procedural Cop Shows

Summary- Gabriel isn’t doing too well after losing his powers, and Sam has a talk with him.

No warnings, just 600 words of emotional Sabriel fluff :)

This fills the @sabrielcc song prompt I received for this month, which was Won’t Get Fooled Again, by The Who. I had to go there XD

“Yeahhhhh!”

Sam shook his head as he walked up to his room and heard Gabriel sing along with that song for what seemed liked the hundredth time. After the unfortunate hunt two days ago where he had his grace stolen, Gabriel had holed up in his room binge-watching that stupid cop show, only coming out to eat.

They were trying their best to find out how to get his grace back, but it was going slow. Plus, Gabriel’s mood wasn’t helping matters much, which was why Sam took a break from research to try to get him to help out, or at least feel better.

Sam knocked on the door a couple of times before opening it and walking into the room. He found Gabriel laying on his side on the bed, staring at the TV. “Gabe, I know you lost your powers, but watching this crappy TV show for days isn’t going to help.”

“Hey, don’t diss CSI Miami,” Gabriel said, not turning from the TV. “It’s my comfort show. One of my favorites.”

“Yeah, I figured that. You must have been pretty into it to have actually been stabbed by me back then,” Sam replied, thinking back to his time in TV land. Gabriel really did seem to enjoy the cop procedural, along with all the other shows they were trapped in.

Gabriel frowned and sat up. “Ah, right. That. Well, it didn’t work huh? Not just a trickster. Did hurt a little though.”

Sam was caught off guard. “Wait, that hurt you? But I thought it wouldn’t affect an archangel.”

“I was enough of a trickster for it to sting a bit.” Gabriel shrugged. “I was fine, just had to take a little time to recover.”

David Caruso’s voice droned on in the background as Sam thought about Gabriel’s reply. That explained how he and Dean made it back to the hotel before the next trick started. He did feel somewhat bad about hurting Gabriel, even if it was intentional at the time. “Sorry about that, but you did turn me into a car afterwards.”

“Yep. Guess we’re even then.” Gabriel shot a quick grin at Sam before flopping back down on the bed.

Sam sighed, laying down next to him. Somehow this was a normal conversation to him. Turning into cars, tricksters, TV land- and that wasn’t even the beginning of what had happened to him. There were certainly rocky spots in his and Gabriel’s relationship. However, things had worked out, and he couldn’t be happier that he and Gabriel were together. With that thought, Sam remembered what he went there to do and turned over to face him. “That’s true though.”

Pausing the TV, Gabriel rolled over to look at Sam. “What?”

“You’re not just a trickster. Not just an archangel either. You’re Gabe, who likes watching CSI Miami, and baking desserts, and helping me play pranks on Dean.” Sam reached out a hand to cup Gabriel’s face. “That’s what I fell in love with, not your flashy powers.” His eyes widened, and Sam couldn’t help but kiss him softly on the lips. “The powers are a nice bonus though,” Sam joked after slowly pulling away.

Gabriel laughed once, a genuine smile growing on his face. “You’re too good for me.”

Sam also smiled, taking his hand back. “We’ll find your grace. But even if we didn’t I’d still love you how you are.”

“Sam…” Gabriel looked at a loss for words, finally just leaning in to kiss Sam, deeper this time.

They broke apart, and Sam wrapped his arms around Gabriel, drawing him to his chest. Research could come later, now he just wanted to stay right where he was.

Gabriel sunk down next to the herb garden the Winchesters has thrown together. It was a scraggly mess of weeds and needed a lot of work to be any sort of functional. With saving the world every other week it was no surprise things like this were neglected. He could identify everything here, the mint being the most prominent. As a plant it was a terror, taking over the whole bed. Well, what worked for a bed. The Winchesters wouldn’t know gardening unless Audrey II was in the middle of it, and even then it would have to bite them first.

He let his fingers dig around, pulling the actual weeds out from the useful ones. The mindless work was nice, and he could hang out and enjoy the sun for once. It wasn’t their fault that the bunker was, well, a bunker. After being trapped in a dungeon for so long there was no wonder he wasn’t a fan of underground places.
