awake now, here's my own list of similaries and differences between the two
things they have in common:
their relationship with strength (well partially atleast)
zoro and sasuke both want to become stronger to achieve a goal, zoro to fulfil a promise to someone who has died and sasuke to bring justice to his slaughtered clan. but beyond that they work so hard to protect those important to them. zoro moreso as he is the swordsman/"main fighter" if the crew and sasuke less because he is understandibly more focused on self protection (as he is being actively pursued by Itachi). and the pursuit of the mangekyo sharingan led him to avoid creating close bonds
but both of them see the presence of strength as the ability to protect and make sure the people they care about cannot be hurt.
the are both swordsmen
they are both characters who are given alot of shipping importance in fandom despite being arguably the least interested in such things in canon
they both hate sweet foods but love onigiri
they are both anarchists (sasuke moreso with commie/marxist leanings, think sabo. zoro just hates the government, cops and all the usual that comes with piracy)
connected to felines (sasuke cats, zoro tigers)
they're both more antisocial. BUT for different reasons. sasuke is a mix of extream trauma and not really feeling like he CAN make new bonds (because again trauma but also plot reasons) where's zoro is just introverted and the more traditionally '''cool shonen guy''' esque character.
moon coded and have a bond that goes beyond words with the sun coded protagonist.
they are both trans and their best fits are ones where they have their tits out /hc/j
things they DO NOT have in common:
an "edgelord" personality, neither of them have this
they are not loners. zoro is part of a crew and he loves them alot. sasuke dosnt have enough agency to choose his solitude (atleast imo)
they are not "emos" be so fr
they do not have superiority complexes. zoro is working towards being the best and that's different. sasuke doesn't have have one at all and I think it ties into how people don't really understand how his trauma and views on strength + how Naruto being his mental 'unit of measurement' plays into that
zoro is not the secondary protagonist/deuteragonist, Naruto's entire story revolves around the main dicotomy between Naruto and Sasuke and their opposing outlooks on life and motives. one piece's narrative structure dosnt work like that, every crewmemeber is equally important even if they don't get equal focus. a more accurate Naruto and Sasuke parallel would be Luffy and Koby tbh. zoro is like... suigetsu, or something
people who compare zoro to sasuke dont understand zoro, but also most people who use sasuke as a unit of measurement or point of reference to compare against don't understand sasuke either, I am in a tar pit.

one piece hcs!!
- PORTGAS D. ACE IS AZERI THROUGH AND THROUGH!!!!! roger is azeri and so is rouge. land of fire fist ace baby!
- nami is hmong ! she's never really made aware of that since she was adopted as a baby and her birth parents never enter the picture at all
- nojiko names nami after the waves one day. bellemare finds it very sweet
- usopp is angolan
- robin is native! im not sure which particular band or tribe but native north american !!
- sanji is half japanese half french but his genes REALLY favour his french side (tentative! i haven't seen wci at all so i don't know his parents)
- franky is japanese american
- i refuse to believe that sabo is british
- namis top artist is flo mili
- robin knows many many languages! including many of the strawhats native languages so they get the sense she's always listening
- ace, sanji, usopp and franky are trans men! sanji is deeply deeply repressed about it and usopp is gently trying to get him out of his shell about it. meeting ace & franky (who you'd imagine would be very flashy about it) helped a lot
- robin is a trans woman & vivi is a trans girl
- usopp & sanji & robin are bisexual, nami is a lesbian, zoro is gay and franky is a straight guy whose DEFINITELY slept with men "why live life with a hand tied behind your back?"
- luffy is by definition aspec gay but like HELL he knows wtf that means
- robin has cptsd and sanji has ptsd. vibes.
- sunny has a giant bathroom and they all have collective baths there after major fights and the like (think more bathhouse than like. personal bath). this is not just to counter the CANON FACT that LUFFY ZORO BROOK shower ONCE A WEEK. but because that scene post alabasta really was the world to me. also to remedy the fact that sanji is a fucking creep AND to get him to warm up to the idea of being Openly Trans in front of his crew
- also all the fuckin strawhats have seen eachother naked no one cares!! non sexual nudity 4ever
- ivankov is a trans woman and bon clay is some foavour of trans fem ?? genderfluid???
- also instead of sanjis 2 year training being Like That its normal intense training under ivankov and the people of the kingdom. like maybe at first when he washed up they were like. trans woman?? because he has that awkward hang ups and repression around his gender but thats for the OPPOSITE reason. so after an explanation they get the idea and throughout those two years he becomes a lot less hellbent around whatever the hell his gentlemens code is
- BUT THE THING IS... his post ts pervert attitude is literally plot relevant in fishman island so its a fucking nightmare writing it out. maybe the air pressure was wildly different in kamabakka island and he's had a hard time adjusting elsewhere idc.
- kuina is a trans guy and if he lives he would've probably had some crazy beef with his dad/owner of the dojo
- usopp and nami do kpop choreography together
- law of course listens to fucking evanescence and pierce the veil that much is obvious. what he doesnt wnat you to know is that hes also into like. eiffel 65 & darude
- makino is gay
- dadans hair is meant to be white but she dyes it with henna and when garp goes grey too she offers to dye it too (he doesn't find it amusing)

New Post has been published on https://vinbo.com/wordpress-5-5-eckstine/
WordPress 5.5 “Eckstine”
Here it is! Named “Eckstine” in honor of Billy Eckstine, this latest and greatest version of WordPress is available for download or update in your dashboard.
Welcome to WordPress 5.5.
In WordPress 5.5, your site gets new power in three major areas: speed, search, and security.
Speed
Posts and pages feel faster, thanks to lazy-loaded images.
Images give your story a lot of impact, but they can sometimes make your site seem slow.
In WordPress 5.5, images wait to load until they’re just about to scroll into view. The technical term is ‘lazy loading.’
On mobile, lazy loading can also keep browsers from loading files meant for other devices. That can save your readers money on data — and help preserve battery life.
Search
Say hello to your new sitemap.
WordPress sites work well with search engines.
Now, by default, WordPress 5.5 includes an XML sitemap that helps search engines discover your most important pages from the very minute you go live.
So more people will find your site sooner, giving you more time to engage, retain and convert them to subscribers, customers or whatever fits your definition of success.
Security
Now you can choose to update plugins and themes automatically–or pick just a few–from the screens you’ve always used.
Auto-updates for Plugins and Themes
Now you can set plugins and themes to update automatically — or not! — in the WordPress admin. So you always know your site is running the latest code available.
You can also turn auto-updates on or off for each plugin or theme you have installed — all on the same screens you’ve always used.
Update by uploading ZIP files
If updating plugins and themes manually is your thing, now that’s easier too — just upload a ZIP file.
Highlights from the block editor
Once again, the latest WordPress release packs a long list of exciting new features for the block editor. For example:
Block patterns
New block patterns make it simple and fun to create complex, beautiful layouts, using combinations of text and media that you can mix and match to fit your story.
You will also find block patterns in a wide variety of plugins and themes, with more added all the time. Pick any of them from a single place — just click and go!
The new block directory
Now it’s easier than ever to find the block you need. The new block directory is built right into the block editor, so you can install new block types to your site without ever leaving the editor.
Inline image editing
Crop, rotate, and zoom your photos right from the image block. If you spend a lot of time on images, this could save you hours!
And so much more.
The highlights above are a tiny fraction of the new block editor features you’ve just installed. Open the block editor and enjoy!
Accessibility
Every release adds improvements to the accessible publishing experience, and that remains true for WordPress 5.5.
Now you can copy links in media screens and modal dialogs with a button, instead of trying to highlight a line of text.
You can also move meta boxes with the keyboard, and edit images in WordPress with your assistive device, as it can read you the instructions in the image editor.
For developers
5.5 also brings a big box of changes just for developers.
Server-side registered blocks in the REST API
The addition of block types endpoints means that JavaScript apps (like the block editor) can retrieve definitions for any blocks registered on the server.
Defining environments
WordPress now has a standardized way to define a site’s environment type (staging, production, etc). Retrieve that type with wp_get_environment_type() and execute only the appropriate code.
Dashicons
The Dashicons library has received its final update in 5.5. It adds 39 block editor icons along with 26 others.
Passing data to template files
The template loading functions (get_header(), get_template_part(), etc.) have a new $args argument. So now you can pass an entire array’s worth of data to those templates.
More changes for developers
The PHPMailer library just got a major update, going from version 5.2.27 to 6.1.6.
Now get more fine-grained control of redirect_guess_404_permalink().
Sites that use PHP’s OPcache will see more reliable cache invalidation, thanks to the new wp_opcache_invalidate() function during updates (including to plugins and themes).
Custom post types associated with the category taxonomy can now opt-in to supporting the default term.
Default terms can now be specified for custom taxonomies in register_taxonomy().
The REST API now officially supports specifying default metadata values through register_meta().
You will find updated versions of these bundled libraries: SimplePie, Twemoji, Masonry, imagesLoaded, getID3, Moment.js, and clipboard.js.
The Squad
Leading this release were Matt Mullenweg, Jake Spurlock, and David Baumwald. Supporting them was this highly enthusiastic release squad:
Editor Tech: Ella Van Durpe (@ellatrix)
Editor Design: Michael Arestad (@michael-arestad)
Core Tech: Sergey Biryukov (@sergeybiryukov)
Media Tech: Andrew Ozz (@azaozz)
Accessibility Tech: JB Audras (@audrasjb)
Docs Coordinator: Justin Ahinon (@justinahinon)
Marketing/Comms Coordinator: Mary Baum (@marybaum)
Joining the squad throughout the release cycle were 805 generous volunteer contributors who collectively worked on over 523 tickets on Trac and over 1660 pull requests on GitHub.
Put on a Billy Eckstine playlist, click that update button (or download it directly), and check the profiles of the fine folks that helped:

i started reading ace's story (finally) so i finally get the whole ace/deuce thing and i have. sooo many thoughts. so so many ace brain worms about how ace always always picks the most trans coded daddy issues person he can find and he immediately goes i want you like sabo (sabo is trans in my heart) and. then deuce. and then sanji (if you ship acesan . i do. a lot) and then yamato. and every time he's the one actively going toward them to love them (either as friends/brother/lover/however you see each ship, it's still love) and he really has this Pattern for the people in his life and then you have luffy. who very much does Not fit the pattern (yes he Should have daddy issues but he clearly is never bothered by not having a dad or never thinks he's worthless etc) and luffy is the first person that ace does Not want to go toward / to love and he actively wants luffy to go away but no!!! luffy actively fights to stay because he wants to love ace. and in a way luffy is the first person and maybe only person who loves ace absolutely unconditionally and who doesn't love ace just for being the sunshine happy guy who gives you hope. nope ace was absolutely awful to luffy and luffy still loved him so much and stuck by his side and all of these thoughts make me hurt so so so much more about the "thank you for loving me" line
#im so unwell about ace u guys dont even know#he's been my comfort character since im a child and now im finally reading the light novels and its the best thing#thats ever happened to me#its like I found the one piece fr#portgas d ace#one piece spoilers#one piece meta#mine
