You walked out of your apartment complex, dragging your suitcase with you. It’s still winter but the snow has stopped falling since last night, signaling that winter is coming to an end. Most of the people were relieved that it was almost the end of the cold season, as they could take a break from thick garments to some comfortable clothes as they welcome another season. Spring. You should be feeling happy too, but you weren’t. You wished that winter lasted a little bit longer. You wanted it to be eternal. But life doesn’t work that way. Seasons doesn’t work that way. You can’t always get what you want in life.

You were waiting for a taxi, as a little snowflake fell on your hair. You took it off and stared at it for a while until it was took away by the harsh winter wind. It remembered you of how cruel the winter is. So cruel, that it took him away from you, like the little snowflake. You thought it was about to snow again, but no, it was just a snowflake which was on top of the street light which was near to where you were standing. And that’s when you realize, the last snow of winter was last night. Now it won’t snow again. Just like it was the last time you saw him.

You got out of the taxi and walked inside the train station and waited for your train to arrive. You heard the loud noise of the train coming with a ‘honk’ sound. When it was your time to get on the train, you quickly got inside it before walking over to your seat. You sat on your reserved seat before looking out of the window. You saw a boy hugging a girl. It reminded you of him. It was the last time you saw him.

You both stepped out of the university campus before sharing a warm hug promising to each other that you’ll see again the next day. But as the next day you came, he wasn’t there. He didn’t came. And the next day. And the day after that.

It was last night when you got the letter. A letter of him bidding you goodbyes, because he can’t come to your apartment right now because he’s too busy packing his belongings. He was saying goodbye to you and the city as he was going back to his hometown. The reason was abrupt. You couldn’t understand why couldn’t he just stop packing for just a few minutes so he could see you. So you could see him. But you were too busy packing by yourself. You too were going to your hometown for spring break and you thought it was time to forget him. It would hurt less than resenting him.

You were dragged out of your thoughts when the train’s engine started with a loud noise. You were leaving his memories in this cruel winter. Wanting to welcome a warm and nice spring. At least that’s what you wished. But you still miss him. The lock screen wallpaper of your phone still reminds you of the fun times you spent together. Winter didn’t seem too cold when he was there. You felt the coldness of the season when he didn’t showed up again.

He was your best friend since the beginning of last fall. Maybe he saw you just as his best friend, you couldn’t help but see him more than that. The warm hugs and the little hand in hand walks were driving your teenage hormones wild. You felt butterflies whenever you saw him. You developed a new feeling for him, which you never felt before. Love. But you were a sucker for the friendship so you kept it deep inside of you. You kept a secret from your best friend, but you had to. Maybe if you didn’t kept it to yourself, he would be sitting next to you. Going with you to your hometown to celebrate spring festivals with you. But it was just a wish. A coward’s wish. Your wish. Genies doesn’t exist, so your wish will be left ungranted.

After a long journey, you walked out of the train. A smile spread to your face when you saw your parents and your older brother waiting for you at the station. You quickly hugged them and hurried to go to your home.

The last few days were warm inside your own familiar home with your lovely parents and brother, yet you missed the feeling of him. You wanted to forget him. But you miss him. Whenever you say to yourself you miss him, it makes you miss him even more.

It was the first day of spring, and you walked out of your house with your brother. Your parents already left for the festival and you had to wait to go with your brother who took a long time to get ready so he could impress his crush. You were happy that at least your brother get to see his crush. But deep down you sweared it was killing you that you didn’t had any crush to impress, your crush had left you a long time ago.

You met with some of your childhood friends at the festival and had a great time with them. You went to food stalls to buy pink buns and cherry blossom burgers (it’s a Japanese tradition btw) with your brother. As the sun was setting the cherry blossom trees and flower filled trees were lightening up with colorful little bulbs which were hung on the trees. Your brother left to the restroom so you were walking through the trees until you bumped into someone.

You looked up to see who it was and your eyes were filled with tears in no time. “T-Tae?” Your voice stuttered as he caressed you cheeks which matched the color of the pink blossoms. “ Y/n… I missed you” he said before engulfing you into a hug. “I missed you more” You said in between sobs. After a while you broke the hug before looking up at Taehyung again. “ But, why are you here? Weren’t you supposed to be at your hometown?” Taehyung chuckled before answering you. “ This is my hometown… what about you? Why are you here at my hometown? Did you missed me that much that you came to meet me here?” he said holding your cold hands in his warm ones. “ What?! Tae, this is my hometown too…” You said, taken back by his sudden confession. “ Really? But why haven’t we met before?” He asked you surprised. “ I lived here since my birth… so there’s no way you didn’t met me…” You crossed your arms with a pout. He giggled at your cute behavior and was about to hug you again, but somebody called you from behind.

“Y/n-ah! Why are you he- OH MY GOD! Taehyung-ah! Man, How are you? When did you came back?” It was your brother, Jimin. “I’m good, I came here a few weeks ago. What about you? How are you?” The boys shared a hug as you were left there confused. “ Wait. Taehyung, you know my brother?”

“ Of course, he’s my childhood best friend.- wait what? Jimin is your brother?” He asked, shocked. “ If Jimin is your brother, that means, you’re that little girl we used to play with. You were the princess and I was the prince. Jimin was the king. OH MY LORD!!!!” it all made sense now. The little Y/n has now grown up to be a big girl. He didn’t recognised her at first because he left the town when he was 6. By that time Y/n was only 4.

After a long time of catching up with each other, Jimin left to hang around with his crush, leaving you and Taehyung alone. “ I thought you left me…” You said. Looking down. “ Forever…” You looked at Taehyung’s face after saying that, only to see him look at you with eyes full of concern. “ I’m sorry, I left you hanging. I should’ve told you before.” You looked at him confused. “What?”

“ Actually, my grandma passed away and I couldn’t really meet you after the huge loss. I locked myself inside my apartment. I felt guilty for both not being with my gramma in her last moments and for ignoring you. After my mom called me to visit them for the spring break, I was too afraid to meet you face to face. I thought you’d hate me for ignoring you. So I just sent a letter. I’m sorry.” Taehyung explained as a tear rolled on his cheeks. You quickly pulled him in for a hug. He cried his heart out and you let him damp your dress. “ You know what Tae… I didn’t hated you. Never. I just felt sad and disappointed that you left me. But it was before I knew why you did that. Now I’m thankful that you’re here with me. I will never hate you.” Suddenly Taehyung broke the hug and looked at you in the eye. “I also have something to tell you. I don’t know how you’ll react but promise me you won’t leave me or hate me for it.” You chuckled at his innocence before promising that you won’t ever leave him nor hate him.

“ I like you Y/n…”

You felt the world stopped for a moment. It was silent until your lips touched his. You felt him smile through the kiss. And that’s when you realized, you shouldn’t wish for the winter to last long. You shouldn’t wish for the spring to be eternal. You shouldn’t wish for anything anymore. Because all your wishes have granted already. on a spring day.
