finally having a premiere date makes me so happy because a. it's less than two months away which feels doable and b. in a very roundabout way, it reminds me of the first day of school after summer vacation when you get to see everyone again after months away because (hopefully) friends that have also gone on hiatus during the hiatus will be back on the dash/tags 🥰 and i'm so ready to lose my mind week after week with everyone ♡

In an effort to focus on something else before I break down first thing in the morning, I have decided to, instead, think about the Chris in Texas plot and how little sense it makes at this point for Chris to have run away in a fury for.... like six months now?
To that end, here is a list of Things People On 911 Have Done Resulting in Forgiveness Long Before Six Months Passed (in no particular order):
Hen cheated on her wife - forgiveness in a few months (Forgiveness by way of Karen moving back in seemed relevant)
Buck sued the department and aired all his friend's private business - forgiveness in moments
Bobby started a fire that killed over 100 people - forgiveness from a guy who lost his wife and suffered catastrophic burns in said fire in a few months
Bobby lied to his wife and snuck off to sponsor a drunk driver who killed and injured dozens, including her child and Chim's brother - forgiveness in less than a minute
Buck almost broke a friend's leg in a fit of jealousy - actually, the friend apologized to HIM, for reasons?
And it's not like this is even a complete list! And like, one of the things I enjoy about this show is that it's the Sideways Universe Things Don't Make Sense Show, but it's been largely internally consistent about how people react before (everyone, I mean eveyone, is hyper forgiving), which makes Chris's decisions about his dad having an emotional breakdown and hugging someone who looks like his dead mom just... weird.
And I get it! Actors can be hard to schedule! But shit, make up a plot about Chris getting into some good school that's in Texas or something, then, because this is just not doing.

i do think the most interesting interpretation of btvs lore is that non-vampire demons and mystical entities ALL have souls, unless they sold, destroyed or otherwise got rid of them (like the mayor)
#because first of all: it gives a potential explanation for why there is a VAMPIRE slayer who specializes in vamps and not just a ''slayer''#like why vampires are singled out in particular. if its because they are in some inherent way crueler more evil less human less worthy#than at least the average demon altho not the most terrible demons. and that kind of checks!! plenty of demons seem to be fairly chill#amoral maybe and have weird diets but not necessarily Big Bads. whereas all vampires by definition drain humans of blood for fun and profit#second: it explains a lot about anya in particular - i'm thinking of two things in s7 when she's a-venging again#1. when she sees spike's soul in his eyes and is Shocked. not the face of a woman who has never seen a soul in the eyes of a demon before#2. no one is like ''oh anya has a soul!!! you cant slay her'' or ''how can you be a demon again when you have a soul wahhh''#i bet everyone just knows she has a soul. she's had a soul the whole time. everyone knows that. everyone's been knowing that.#third: it explains Why Angel And Spike Are Such Frickin Big Deals lmaoooo#the whole ''vampire with a soul'' thing isnt understood by buffy in s1 - angel tells her about it and she's like okay sure. try harder#the concept of ''souls'' being ''something'' that one ''has'' is like so ... it ONLY MAKES SENSE if vampires are KNOWN to NOT HAVE SOULS!!!#like imagine youre a demon or w/e and some master vamp comes along and youre like ''oh shit'' and he's like nah man ... ive got my Soul#and youre like ''oh SHIT. i didnt know you could do that''#vaguely related point: i think something people in fandom have always struggled with (''struggled with'' is the nice way of phrasing)#is the idea that in buffy's mind vampire with soul = good / vampire without soul = bad ALWAYS NO EXCEPTIONS#and like. theres so much nuance there. nuance number one being that buffy anne summers is the Queen Of Black And White Thinking#and we gotta take what she says with a grain of salt. nuance number two being obviously bad people can do good things and vice versa#nuance number three is that she's kinda right? if you have no true moral compass AND no true empathy AND delight in causing pain You're Bad#anyway i think this take ^^^^ about demons having souls and the people of btvs being aware of this lends EVEN MORE NUANCE!!!#because people in fandom love being like ..... buffy would kill anything without a soul. and protect anything with a soul. which tbh#i think is a deliberate misunderstanding of the source material. buffy would kill anything that harms humans and will protect#anyone that is human. thats her fucking job lmaoooooooooooooo its her calling in life. get bent#i'm ending the tag spiral here <3#it's terribly simple

Also! I met Arthur Darvill dressed as Ava Sharpe and got to tell him he played a major role in both of my all time favorite shows. He looked pretty chuffed about that and said it was cool to go more obscure with cosplay choices :D

VLD's last seasons were a horror of terrible issues, and people not being happy that Shiro was LGBTA+ was such a drop in the very large downpour of reasons people ended up not being happy with things.
I legitimately have never met anyone online who is at all familiar with VLD and the fanbase who was angry on the basis that Shiro was gay in and of itself. I feel like the fandom itself (at least on Tumblr where the majority of its notorious incidents took place) gave very little space for the type of anti-SJW communities that most other franchises older than the Internet have like Star Wars. Those people for the most part had hit the bricks the day Pidge gender discourse took over.
Given *waves hand* everything, I cannot blame any outsider who assumed the review bombing was from 40 year old divorced dads who watch too much Ben Shapiro. But VLD is is absolutely a rare exception where all of this came from actual fans of the show were rightfully felt shafted.
Coming to you because I know you’ll get me. I was talking to my friend’s fiancé this weekend as we went camping for their Jack/Jill party and we somehow ended up talking about the IMDB ratings of voltron and I was laughing (crying on the inside) about how their season 8 score tanked so badly and this poor man was like “yeah isn’t it a coincidence it was the season one of the characters was revealed as gay tho”, and started directing it towards the belief it was homophobes tanking the score.
I was like ok yes sure partly that but I am so so sorry that you are not prepared for all the ways I passionately feel it was not just the homophobes but the majority queer tumblr fans who were so very and despairingly betrayed by the story, especially the way they treated that gay character (and also the only main woman of color on the team). He triggered the disappointed and mad about it voltron fan within me and neither of us were quite prepared for it.
oh I SO get you!
There was SO MUCH wrong with seasons seven and eight and blaming it all on homophobia just ignores SUCH egregious issues with all the rest of the story! It's literally reducing Shiro to 'the token (again)' and ignoring the way the writers utterly trashed his character long before that point and the way they sidelined him from his own story and ignored him as a main character or even a character at all. It completely ignores the way they kept knocking Allura further and further down, taking her from the leader to a follower to a girlfriend to sitting everything out until she needed to be sacrificed. Hell, even Lance got downgraded to 'supportive boyfriend and nothing' and they had already taken his plot beats away from him seasons before. The villains were given excuses for what they'd done expect for the one villain that had an excuse and he was written as the 'final evil' for a unnecessary 'bad guy maneuver' while his abusers were both let slid and given happy endings. And that's even before the fact that the story literally made no sense by the final season. It was pretty, it was flashy - and there was absolutely no sense in anywhere the story went. The story beats didn't connect, the characters weren't in character, the lines of the story didn't make sense. Things jumped from situation to situation without any rhyme or reason.
VLD's last seasons were a horror of terrible issues, and people not being happy that Shiro was LGBTA+ was such a drop in the very large downpour of reasons people ended up not being happy with things. I feel you SO hard! I think I'm over how frustrated that show makes me and then someone says something and it all bubbles up and I'm right back where I started. I can feel pity for your friend. He put his foot into something he couldn't have begun to realize how deep it went. People who didn't go through it with the fandom can't begin to fathom how entrenched we were and still are. It's disheartening to think that writers and the EPs of the show are getting excused for the drek they passed off as professional paid-for writing simply because people are excusing the backlash it caused as 'its because that one guy was gay'.

Some of y’all need to learn what a misdirect is and the fact that actors and show runners will use it at every opportunity to keep you from finding out what’s gonna happen
Ryan using brother a million times in his interviews is far more telling than if he hadn’t - he is doing exactly the same thing he was doing at the end of s7 in interviews.
Tim is known for straight up lying in interviews - do you not remember him straight up saying that they wouldn’t be dealing with Eddiees trauma form his time as a soldier - at the end of season 4 - and what did we get in season 5?!!!
They are never ever going to give you any hints or anything that could give a way any aspect of Eddies arc for the season or the buddie of it all - because why would they do that - it makes no sense at all - they’re going to just misdirect and divert attention away from it all - queer Eddie and buddie canon will be the biggest thing - like they’re both hisotric and ground breaking narratives - they are not going to let a magazine have that scoop before it happens on our screens. we had zero information about bi buck before the episode but we got it and then the interviews were insane afterwards.
Just enjoy the ride and buy a massive ton bag of salt for the interviews - they’re fun to read but bear no reflection on reality of the episodes of the show

I’m loving your theories on the whole BuckTommy (sorry Lou ilu but the name BuckTommy has stuck with me) arc. So I have to ask… why do you think people (read: fandom people) are convinced this is the last season? I really don’t see ABC/Disney undertaking this big of a show (money and following wise) and being like “yeah we’ll put time and effort into this production, but only for one season”
Thank you! Glad you love them, I feel slightly less of a clown when people understand how I think lol. Also - I was rooting for Tevan hard, and even Firefly, but I've accepted Bucktommy and now it has a special place in my heart.
As for your question... I think it all comes to change.
Let me explain. For shows to have a long life, they have to change. They have to evolve. We cannot feel as if we are tuning in to the same thing every week, especially when the same thing has long become boring. I will put Modern Family (my ultimate comfort show) as an example: the whole eleven seasons are of constant change. We are growing with the characters, we are happy, frustrated, sad, whatever, with their actions and choices. And because they are changing, we want to tune in next week to see what will be next.
911 has a severe issue of lack of change. The characters go through these cycles constantly; we said Buck was in a hamster wheel, but the truth is that every single character is in there, too. The writers are somehow unable to find new storylines or conflicts, that aren't what we have seen already, only this time with a new context.
This is partly the reason why so many people, and why a big part of the GA, latched onto Tommy and BuckTommy so quickly - because they were a breath of fresh air, and they felt like the much-needed novelty we were all expecting. If we don't have them, we go to the same repetitive stories - with Buck, but with everyone else, too, to be honest.
And if there is no change... people get bored. There are just so many times you can see Henren on the brink of losing their kids, or Buck trying to find the one (it's stopped being cute, especially when he just had the perfect partner for him walk away), Eddie being unable to move on or forget Shannon (because as much as he's 'better' - has he actually dealt with it?), Madney having either a kid storyline or a Dough-influenced storyline, Bathena having issues with communicating... eight seasons is a long time of this. And unless they change it up, just how much longer can they go? We joke about Grey's sometimes, but the fact is that they are constantly changing.
So. That's partly it.
But (without wanting to make this a whole novel), there were also rumors that some cast was hesitant to continue. Take this with a grain of salt, please, but rumor has it that Peter was kind of ready to walk away a while ago. He even has said in interviews he cannot do this for much longer, as 911 is a very exigent show to shoot. He even wanted Bobby to be killed off at the S7 opening emergency. Angela has also expressed a desire to be on Broadway, so that could also be conflicting. Again, take it with a grain of salt.
And as for ABC - you're right, they bought 911. But with the upcoming spin-off, one can't help but wonder if it is not complimentary but, rather, a substitute. Perhaps they are planning on moving someone from the OG there, who knows. The fact is that they managed to catch the audience's attention with the OG, enough that if they lose it but immediately have a variation of it, they might tune in. And this new show would be cheaper than OG is right now because let me tell you - it ain't cheap, as far as I am aware.
If you want my personal opinion on this - I am 50-50. I think it would be a very weird final season if this was the last, but I wouldn't be that surprised if we find out it is. I can see them going for a ninth season, but I cannot see them going further than a tenth, and that is being really generous. If they prove me wrong and are willing to adapt to change, I will happily eat my words.
PS: I do think if this is the last season, or even if we have it in the next couple of years, they could bring Tommy back (if they haven't yet), as a sort of rushed HEA. Kind of playing with the whole 'right person, wrong time', just bringing it to the right time finally.
Thanks for the ask <3

as much as i love daenerys (a fuck ton) so many people that like her are so obsessed with hating on jon and his fans. we all knew she was the ptwp and that she had a great journey.
idk it might just be me. i’m just sick of people acting like jon snow stans hate daenerys or that we brush her aside because we do NOT! or at least i don’t. that’s queen daenerys of house targaryen and the ruler of the six kingdoms (the north answers to no one) right there.
everyone is mad about daenerys’ characterization in s7-8 but don’t extend that excuse to jon snow and for what! he was done just as dirty because bro only had like 1 one line: u r mah kween.
i love you jon snow. they could never make me hate you.
no you are SO REAL FOR THIS. SO REAL IM GOING TO SCREAM
everyone has always (realistically) known dany is azor ahai. born amidst salt and smoke, waking dragons from stone etc etc. yes there were some jon fans arguing it was jon instead of dany, but the books are very confusing in that sense so i don’t blame them. dany fills the azor ahai prophecy, but we also get “I pray for a glimpse of Azor Ahai but all He shows me is Snow.” like?????? what the fart
& fans acting like his character wasn’t ruined in season eight too 😭😭 “why don’t u like jon snow” “he killed-“ please don’t tell me u took anything from season eight as canon. i may laugh in your face
“he’s boring!!” 1. he’s not 2. is that illegal
AND LIKING BOTH IS TOP TIER. THEYRE BOTH GOING TO BRING THE DAWN. THEY CANT DEFEAT THE DARK WITHOUT EACH ORHER wait who said that
ok i have to stop talking or else i’m going to say some very naughty words and make people mad. and i am but a lowly house elf

So do we take the leaker saying queer eddie is the priority as a sign buddie is coming in s8? Would they really say that stuff if it was still happening, I'm kind of nervous. The leaker has also been adamant BT is not endgame which no shit it's obvious, but I can't imagine this not leading to anywhere but Buddie and I think they probably held off on Eddie because his is going to be a multi episode arc that's going to deal with lots of heavy topics, the complete opposite of Buck's but is this what we think is coming?
I think we should take anything anyone who claims or appears to be a leaker for the show says with a grain of salt. I mean this one likely has insider info because plenty of things they've talked about or alluded to before episodes have been accurate. Still since we don't know who this person is we should never assume everything they say is 100% fact. Also storylines can get moved around and changed like what I think happened in s7.
Still even without any inside info I feel pretty confident in saying that Buddie is in the works and that Eddie's coming out arc will be next season. Just based on how things went this season, based on all the talk of Buddie in interviews, based on how little Tim chose to develop B/T, and based on what Ryan has said about Eddie's future in his most recent interviews.
I think Buddie was just delayed because Tim had other stuff he wanted to focus on in season 7 and they didn't want both Buck and Eddie coming out in one season. ABC also likely wanted to see how the audience was going to respond to Buck's story and how it might affect ratings. Plus like you said Eddie's coming out is going to require more time and they just didn't have that to really devote to him with how short s7 was. But I wouldn't worry canon queer Eddie is coming we're closer now than ever.

behold, i present: Inanimate Insanity Infinity! sort of! more info below the cut :)
youtube
this took like 5 days . please enjoy nobody is okay
II S1 Contestants Infinity Death Order - Infinity Timeline Alternate
Canon S1
Bow
∞ S1
Paper
Eliminated early because Salt had a massive vendetta against him and rigged it so he would lose. They also came up with the Black Hole elimination idea because of an off-hand comment he made once as a joke. Closest to canon
∞ S2
Marshmallow
Broke down from the pressure and quit. Didn't realize that would get her killed; glad to see Bow, though. More confident after years in the afterlife
∞ S3
OJ
Refused to participate in challenges after Paper was gone. Salt tried his best to keep him in, but he lost on purpose. Was depressed for a while but healed over the years
Baseball
Got unlucky a few too many times. Was nonplussed about his elimination, mostly. Second closest to canon
∞ S4
Nickel? (Quit to assist)
Made it halfway through the season before he decided he didn't want to do this anymore and needed an excuse to get away from Balloon, who of which he had used one of the newly generated contestants to get back at with immediately following Baseball's elimination. The Divas accepted his offer because Chives was a little slow, and a nickel would be hard to kill
∞ S6
Paintbrush
Tried to attack Salt and Pepper halfway through the season due to a buildup of frustration that had been brewing since ∞ S1. Was immediately disqualified, eliminated, and replaced- and made an example in front of the others during it. Extremely bitter towards them, and a bit quicker to rage, but otherwise pretty close to canon
Bomb
Started out an average player and slowly but surely became more confident in the game before pushing himself too far one too many times and getting himself injured. After a season of less and less good performances due to his injury, he finally got eliminated, but was still considered an 'all-star' to many. Easy-going and friendly, but still a bit nervous
∞ S7
Pickle
Him lasting this long surprised pretty much everyone, so his elimination was more or less a "finally" moment. He stayed with his gimmick of being the gamer and ended up falling into his sterotype pretty comfortably, but he rounded out as a person over the years and has a lot of random hobbies. Hasn't entirely forgiven Taco, but he gets along with her. Pretty relaxed
∞ S8
Knife
Mellowed out to adapt to how the game went- would have attacked S&P too, but learned from Paintbrush's mistakes. Played a good solo game, trying to not form any teams or alliances, and just ended up getting unlucky and eliminated. Never got taught sarcasm by Nickel, so even though he's mellowed out, he's extremely blunt
Balloon
Wanted to lay off on the intensity and be nicer, but due to fear of losing he was forced to find his footing, ending up being surprisingly good at it. Fan-favorite until the end because he competed in the name of his friends, and much more confident and snarky than in canon. Has forgiven Nickel
∞ S9
Taco
Hid in the forest until being forced to compete in ∞ S8, her act long since revealed. Barely scraped by last season and was an early elimination this season. Similar to canon but has had time to grow and mellow out. Regrets her actions in Season 1
∞ S10
Apple
Mostly clueless about whatever darkness lay beyond the show, she was mostly a fan favorite for being extremely cheerful and supportive. Still is, even after death
Fan
Lightbulb's left hand man and an observer with a quick wit, he molded himself to be the type of contestant Salt and Pepper wanted and survived due to that, leaving hidden messages for fans to find to try and expose them for what they'd done and signal for help and for people to find out the truth. He sadly never got to see the result of him trying, but now that it's over for him, he's back to his old self, or at least as close as he can be
∞ S11
Lightbulb
The last survivor, and a beacon of hope until she ran out of time. Cheerful and friendly and a major role model. The world and Nickel weeped when she was lost, and it marked the end of an era. Despite her reputation, she's still close to her canon self, just with a surprising capacity for seriousness and used to carrying responsibility on her shoulders

I’m not saying he’s not staying longer than planed but with Oliver you have to also take his interviews with many grains of salt. Like love him to death but he also says things like this about every possible LI he gets. Just look at the last few interviews from season 6 where he was going on about the future of Buck and Natalia and how excited he was is to see it play out in season 7 and explore their dynamic etc. and then we all saw what happened with that lol.
to be fair, when he said those things, Fox hadn't cancelled 9-1-1 yet & ABC hadn't picked it up. for all he figured, Buck & Natalia could've been something in s7 had it been on fox and things didn't play out the way they did. & I don't blame him for saying things like this about every LI cuz I'm sure he prob hopes at least 1 will stick around for some time. Buck has certainly drawn the short end of the stick as far as LI's go, but Tommy is incredibly different than any of his past LI's and, frankly, whether you like BuckTommy or not, it'd be stupid to just brush him aside when this pairing allows for a ton of new, rich storylines that they can tell.
And isn't getting Buck off that hamster wheel Kristen put him on in seasons 5 & 6 the entire point of this?

Hi :) I just wanted to let you know john harlan kim liked a couple of comments saying/asking "does this mean albert will be back in s7" under his photo with oliver, so I think there's a good chance :)
He liked every comment, so grain of salt, but if people wanna have that info to clown on, him liking them all doesn't have to be mutually exclusive from it being true.
