alright.  fair  enough,  actually.  he's  started  and  stopped  a  sentence  about  five  times  in  the  past  minute  and  a  half,  so  that  saves  him  the  effort  of  trying  to  actually    articulate  his  feelings,  of  how  much  he  loves  her,  all  the  things  he  appreciates,  how  he  doesn't  know  what  would  have  happened  if  not  this.  it  doesn't  need  to  be  okay  and  she  doesn't  really  need  to  forgive  him  for  any  of  it,  just.  as  long  as  she  knows.

A wary glance was shot her way. While niggling exhaustion kept his brow furrowed, the presence of the divine’s proper chosen did little to lessen the pinch of his expression. Truth be told, he’d never found himself a religious man. Something about their pious persnicketiness and threatened jail time over a misunderstanding of alms soured that potential relationship. Yet, he’d heard through whispers of the Redguard before him; she’d presented herself kindly to the beggars and invalids of Riften, and those words inevitably trickled down to him with just a bit of coin, or for the more foolhardy, a bit of pressure. Still, he’d not tread heavy over the Temple’s foot; it was one of the few places the Blackbriars had no weight and he’d not care to taste the pavement of a jail cell today. 

❝ Is that so, Lady Lilethys? ❞ The Second of Thieves slunk back, languidly leaning back into the dock’s wall as to further shroud himself from the dawn’s glaring light. Aye, absolutely getting steaming the night prior had left him with a mild headache and a parched throat. Truly, the timing couldn’t have been more comical. Coming staggering back from a ‘Dibellan Worship Ritual’, head pissin’ mad, and his merchant guise distinctly disheveled from an evening of petty crime only to so-happen to run into the Priestess of Mara? Delvin’s superstitious self would be beside himself.

he likes music. he has one of those portable cd players so he uses that a lot, a cassette player, too, but he reads mostly. he hasn't found a dvd or video player or anything (yet!) so that's really how he occupies his time. that and working out. he's awake most of the time and unfortunately doesn't really have any friends nor enough money to go out and do things (also being in public is never great, so).

honestly mae makes lira dinner often as a ‘surprise’ ( how much of a surprise is it when it’s like three times a week but whatever ) and probably 60 - 70% of the time it’s some sort of pasta and bread. lira is probably going to overdose on gluten or go into a permanent food coma.

and you know what she eats every thing she's given and comes back for seconds and thirds. not only is she honored every single time mae cooks for her but one of lira's love languages is food so the gesture means the world to her. whether it’s the first time or the billionth. ♡ we both know she gets easily caught up in her day to day life and forgets to eat more often than not so it’s very much appreciated , as is mae overall. :’)

opposites attract in the best way. they met in law school, so there's literally no winning against either of them in an argument. they have different parenting styles, but it works out in the end. jeff is the one they go to if they need emotional support, starlie is the one they go to if they need some kind of problem solved. they're both probably too soft on their kids (hence why ben is ... like that), even if they do have their stern moments.

jeff's parents are good now, but it took them a really long time to come around to their relationship. jeff chose starlie over them without even thinking and that just exacerbated the issue, but all the grandkids probably softened them.

they have such guilt over bobby. they're not dumb so they knew, but they also didn't want to be too overbearing about it because they thought it would just make him use more, or stop visiting. now they beat themselves up for being too lenient about it. and ben scares the fuck out of them, especially when they saw him follow bobby not even a few months after he died. top 5 worst parenting moments and it pains me to say it, but it was when ben was deepest in his addiction. they were still reeling and grieving from losing bobby so i get that, but they basically just tried to make peace with the fact that they would probably get a call that ben was dead one day, too. once he started coming out of it a little more and they were moving past their grief they got serious about telling him to get his shit together. at least he was more receptive at that point.

you'd think that he'd drink more now, but it's less satisfying since it takes a lot for him to get really drunk. plus he's around the smell of alcohol when he works, he sees what it does to people, and it turns him off of it a little bit.

if he really wants to though then he'll drink because it'll still give him the burn in his chest.

              he's  used  to  how  hot  she  is,  literally,  but  it's  still  never  what  he  expects,  tucked  under  the  rippling  of  her  arm  and  starting  to  break  into  a  sweat.  it  must  trigger  something  physiological,  because  he  feels  something  bubble,  from  the  base  of  his  abdomen  all  the  way  up  to  his  teeth.

tell  me  what  you  mean  when  you  say  things.  she  said  that,  once,  having  been  exposed  to  all  the  annoyances  in  the  way  that  he  communicates.  so,  okay.  it's  the  one  vulnerability  that  he  doesn't  like  to  indulge  in,  if  only  because  in  every  other  sense,  they  both  know  she'll  always  have  the  upper  hand.  "whenever  it  is,  tell  me."  its  been  implied,  in  not  so  many  words.  as  in,  she's  not  sticking  around  forever.  (or  rather,  he  isn’t  and  she  will.)  she  has  better  things  to  do,  things  that  he'll  never  understand,  and  he's  far  too  human  to  give  her  any  actual  sense  of  purpose.  "before  you  leave.  if  you're  not  gonna  come  back."

that  could  mean  a  lot  of  things.  but  she's  fuzzy  and  bright  around  the  edges,  like  she's  glowing  when  he  looks  at  her,  the  foreground  of  a  shadowed  wall,  and  he  doesn't  know  if  that's  whatever  they  slipped  underneath  their  tongues  or  a  projection.

he  asks  for  clarification,  a  rhetorical  question  softened  by  the  way  he  tucks  his  head  into  her  neck.  "are  we?"  but,  yeah.  when  he  straightens,  he  looks  at  her  and  she's  a  little  less  hazy.  he's  going  to  drag  her  to  the  bathroom  with  him  soon.  "guess  that's  why  we're..."  in  lieu  of  choosing  a  noun,  proper  or  otherwise,  he  gestures  loosely,  the  tail  end  of  it  coming  to  rest  at  her  waistline.

he  knows  what  worked  for  him,  but  he'd  hate  himself  forever  if  he  actually  said  that  to  her.  he  nudges  her  the  last  bit  of  pizza  in  the  box.  "i  don't  think  there's,  like.  a  cure  for  that."  or  maybe  there  is,  and  he's  just  never  been  persistent  enough  to  find  it.  "i'll  tell  you  if  i  find  it."
