This letter was drafted and never sent by Sofyna, later presented to Jayce once they got together.

Dear Zolotse,

It has only been a few months now since we last saw each other. Our brief time together has recontextualized every place I frequent and lent to me expecting to see you in common corners of my life.

Whereas before I was content to curl into my favorite reading nook in the library alone, I now feel an ache for your company and it is hard to return to my routine. I remember sneaking you in past open hours to the atheneum to show you my favorite tomes of mages past. The way your voracious curiosity breathed new vigor into my own studies, it makes it all the more obvious your absence.

I feel a little silly, I admit, for missing you so when we only knew each other for such a short time. But I think that speaks to your charm, that I go about my day and miss getting to know you.

I hope your Hexgates are constructed soon, so that I can come see your success. I look forward to getting the chance to cover the illustrious and glorious introduction of your Hextech to the world in the Crimson Journal. However, I think it'll be sooner...

I received a proposal to have my journalistic pursuits funded under House Tepes! If arrangements are swift, I may see you before construction is complete! If I receive news of my moving, I won't even have to send this letter at all, and I'll seek you out to convey this all in person.

💘: Why would people love your ship? Why would people dislike your ship? How might it start debates?

I think people would love how Sofyna is clearly Jayce's friend as well as a romantic interest, sharing a special interest in the history of magic and mages. They spend time together and he seeks her out when he needs to get his mind off work, as well as how she is a trustworthy ally when it comes to navigating soirees and parties.

People could dislike the ship as distracting from the main plot's tight narrative at times, but such is the nature of a character that exists to be another character's escape from narrative tension in their separate arcs. People would also find reason to dislike such a major rework of Sofyna between the game's lore for her and the show's new interpretation of her being so divorced from her origin in the Crimson Circle to now being incredibly based in Piltover, as well as her design shifting from vampire femme fatale detective to lady journalist.

It might start debates in that people would argue that characters that share an arc should be romantically paired with each other rather than paired with characters outside that arc; ie "why did they commit to Sofyna and Jayce when the weight of her arc is built into the climax of her betraying her dear friend Floriane and then killing her wicked patron mother figure together, both awakening as mages???"

👀: How does your ship with your f/o influence both of your characterisations and the world? Would there be any interesting metas written about your dynamic?

Sofyna and Jayce are both inquisitive people that love to learn everything about whatever has grabbed their interest, will not be content until they know every angle and context. Their shared special interest in mages and magic results in them both often having rose colored glasses when it comes to the subject, as shown by Jayce's arc in the show and as Sofyna is changed by her own mage awakening.

Sofyna may even question revealing her new powers as the sensations sit uncomfortably under her skin and she expects Jayce's curiosity to have the potential to overwhelm his capacity to offer comfort. She is pleasantly proven wrong, with analysis written about the way Jayce's expression flits through confusion to excitement to concern for her own lack of exuberance over the change in the scene where she reveals her awakening. There is subtext of Sofyna's almost out of character timidness reflective of how she expects others to act how she would in this situation, how she personally would prod and inquire to sate her curiosity, and the resulting comfort Jayce graces her with solidifies her trust in him.
