Ryley Perry as Etcetera in the City Springs production, May 2023. I love that they went with the Greycat design for her, instead of London's 'paler version of Rumpelteazer' version.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the 'British Airways' gif we also have Olivia Windley as Sillabub, Alexis Yard as Rumpelteazer, Steven Etienne as Mungojerrie, and of course Harry Francis as Mistoffelees peeking from the shadows.
Bonus: Etcetera had a little sister in this production! There were four unnamed kitten characters played by students: here's Ryley with Elizabeth Windley (X).

(And offstage, Elizabeth is the younger sister of Olivia who plays Sillabub!)

Lee “Scratch” Perry Dead at 85
- “Few more important figures in the music of the 20th century,” the Mountain Goats say
Lee “Scratch” Perry, the groundbreaking reggae musician and producer who helped pioneer dub music, has died.
Perry was 85 and died Aug. 29 at a hospital in Jamaica, the Jamaica Observer reported.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness confirmed the news in a statement in which he offered “my deep condolences to the family, friends and fans of (the) legendary record producer and singer.”
“Undoubtedly, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry will always be remembered for his sterling contribution to the music fraternity,” Holness said. “May his soul rest in peace.”
A solo artist, Perry also founded Upsetter Records and his production worked spanned generations and genres from Bob Marley to the Clash to the Beastie Boys.
“We wouldnt have been able to do what we do without him,” the Slackers wrote on Facebook. “Thank you, Lee.”
Ryley Walker said Perry was “too good for this Earth;” Hiss Golden Messenger eulogized him as “one of the greatest musical innovators of our time on this planet;” and the Mountain Goats urged music lovers to play his recordings for young people and “see how instantly they love it; it's universal.”
“Few more important figures in the music of the 20th century,” the Mountain Goats tweeted. “He expanded the vocabulary of studio sound; lived a long life and leaves a lasting legacy.”

Why yes, I did go to Glastonbury again
And it went like this.
Heavenly Jukebox Everything Everything Stood outside both for a bit.
The Pretenders All the hits, minus a chance for a festive 2000 Miles singalong. Chrissie Hynde tried to insist we only wanted rock music with guitars and didn’t listen to me saying I quite liked synths too.
Charli XCX I’ve never seen anyone bounce for 45 minutes solid.
Dua Lipa Huge John Peel crowd for an entirely perfunctory show. Good fight behind me, though. Fifty-year-old bloke who’d had enough of people walking past him so offered out two buff twentysomethings. Was broken up before it got too messy.
Kris Kristofferson Time stood still.
Martha Wainwright There was no Bleeding All Over You, but it was all warm and enjoyable. Extra props to the two women lying prostrate in the middle of the crowd for the whole set.
Royal Blood I was walking past. Another massive crowd for not very much.
Ride Only caught the last three songs because I bumped into John and then Jane while cutting through the woods. Still, they (Ride) sounded fantastic and Taste was glorious. Good to see Mark Gardener’s dispensed with the stupid hat.
George Ezra Walking past again. All deep-voiced and charming as per.
Little Dragon I think I said “This is the song I like” three times. Yukimi owned the stage in a Can’t Get You Out Of My Head veil.
Lorde Yet another fly-by. Saw half an hour before zipping round to Radiohead and was sad to leave. I think we were going to get the full ‘proper pop star’ thing.
Radiohead They played Creep. Which I’ve never really liked. There There, Weird Fishes and 2+2=5 were the ones that got me dancing like Thom fighting off a wasp.
The Brass Funkeys Accidental cheesy fun while convalescing in the Field of Avalon, wondering how my sister could possibly stomach a Dark & Stormy at this hour. I saw them again at the Bandstand as I avoided the Corbyn crush.
Wildwood Kin Still at Avalon, now nursing a Butcombe ale. Our mum had told us to watch out for this lot doing their harmonic folk. It was ok.
The Moonlandingz Lias Fat White and mad friends. This was awesome, crazed glam.
Sigrid She looked like she should’ve been walking to school with my 11-year-old, but so confident, amiable and (vocally) powerful. A bit of a highlight, really.
Run The Jewels LOLs and beats. Must’ve been pretty disheartening to see the post-Corbyn exodus, mind.
Katy Perry Somewhat Sally Field at the Oscars cringe. Still, I got Chained To The Rhythm, Teenage Dream and Firework before haring off to
The Avalanches Now, I was worried about this, seeing as I’m, like, their dad or something – and I thought they started off a leeeetle shaky before really finding their groove. In the end it was joyous and the singing of samples/replacement of rappers was deftly done.
Solange Mesmerising and gorgeous; a heavily drilled modern Earth, Wind & Fire. Or maybe Rotary Connection. Or The Stylistics. No room for Sandcastle Disco (best song ever), but it probably would’ve scuffed up the sleek flow.
Phoenix The last three Phoenix albums are essentially the same song 30 times over, and thank goodness for that – it’s a brilliant song. This might’ve been my favourite show, even if Thomas Mars thought it was beset with barely perceptible technical issues, and when he jumped into the crowd at the end he brushed it all away like dust off the shoulder.
Ryley Walker Man, was I dazed. Man.
Laura Marling Another one resolutely refusing to play any of my favourite songs while staying absolutely captivating. So maybe she knows better than me.
Barry Gibb A dream come true, for both of us.
Haim They were so Haim. Este bossed us around for a full hour.
Goldfrapp There are two principal Goldfrapps – electroglam Goldfrapp and flowerchild owl costume Goldfrapp. I’m more about the latter, but we got the full synth dominatrix version which does almost as nicely.
Metronomy After four manic, tuneless songs I had a total nervo and retired to the woods to play a giant light-up xylophone. Came back when they played That Metronomy One.
Otherwise It might be the hangover but I’m still laughing about the barman at the Tolpuddle who looked entirely bewildered when I asked for three ales, stared at the table of pints for 30 seconds then went off and served someone else.
I mainly subsisted on full vegan breakfasts and vegetarian curries, apart from that one gobsmackingly expensive hotdog when I was too baked to bargain them down.
Ten years ago we went to Glastonbury as part two of our honeymoon, camping next to the brand new Park which became our manor. Ended every night at the Silent Disco like a couple of saps, so decided to repeat that this year (a couple of nights, anyway). Long story short, that’s the most I’ve sung Toto’s Africa since 1983.
What a festival. We had a ball. Best place on Earth etc. No way am I ever going again.

Glastonbury 2017: Have you seen the full lineup?
Glastonbury 2017 festival
The Glastonbury 2017 organizers have put together the full lineup and stage times for the 2017 Glastonbury festival.
The 2017 Glastonbury festival kicks off on June 21st-25th! Did you know that the very first festival was held the day after Jimi Hendrix passed away? It was held for two days and pretty soon “word had got around,” and the festival started to get larger over the years, starting in 1970.
[ DAS Energi 2017: Zedd, Knife Party, Diplo and Adventure Club announced! ]
In a few days, EE’s official Glastonbury 2017 app will go live, allowing you to plan your personal line-up.
There are amazing stars from the lime-light getting ready to have a good time at the 2017 Glastonbury festival, including RadioHead, The XX, Royal Blood, Kris Kristofferson, Katy Perry, Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran, Major Lazer, Halsey, Dropkick Murphys, Shaggy and many, many more artists will be performing during the week.

The kittens of the City Springs 2023 production
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(X X)
So, this production had four characters billed only as 'ensemble', played by musical theatre students. They were only in some numbers (notably the opening and the ball), though for a lot of therest of Act I they hung out around the edges to watch and interact in the best tradition of swing cats, and they went home at interval. (Munkustrap presumably found a babysitter for the kittens.) They also played with the audience in the auditorium before the show. Here they are!
(Note: all four are over 18. All images here are posted publically on their instas, or are part of official promomaterial from the theatre company.)
Elizabeth Windley, whose older sister played Sillabub, played a kitten who looks like a smaller version of Etcetera in the same production—though her muzzle and collar are reminiscent of a Jemima. She seems to refer to her kitten as 'Minnie'!
Here she is with Etcetera (Ryley Perry) and Sillabub (Olivia Windley) (X).

Jayla Lopez plays a kitten who's black and white in a similar pattern to Cassandra's markings. (Her wig is essentially the same as Misto's ensemble wig. Casslonzo daughter? Cassoffelees? Alonzoffelees? Headcanons are free!)
Between Tantomile (Grace Arnold) and Victoria (Caitlin Bond) (X); and with Cassandra (Erin Rawlings) (X):

Zach Feeney's kitten has some resemblance to Mungojerrie, with the sharp blacks and oranges in the wig, and some to Electra with the floofy red fur on a dark-coloured unitard. Here behind Tugger (Spencer Dean) (X):

And Trevor Groce blessed us with many impish in-costume selfies of his little kitty! I'm honestly getting Tumblebrutus vibes so, since Tumble didn't exist in this production (Plato was a tumbler, though, so we got a very flippy Macavity), Trevor's kitten can be Tumblebrutus in my heart (X X).

Kittens in the pyramid: Elizabeth and Trevor, next to Jellylorum (Meredith Crain) (X)!

And bonus: here they all are with Jacob Brent (X)!

The Final Scrunglies
this video is far better than the one i have (from basically on the wall of house left lol)
In order of appearance (which is the reverse of how they're listed in the playbill):
Olivia Windley as Sillabub Ryley Perry as Etcetera Erin Rawlings as Cassandra Murillo Barbosa as Pouncival (who filled in for Plato during the ball doing the white cat lift) Emmanuel Cologne as Coricopat Grace Arnold as Tantomile Eric Rivas as Alonzo (who did the tapoff with Jennyanydots) Noah A. Lyon as Plato/Macavity (who filled in for Tumblebrutus during the ball doing the flippies) Caitlin Bond as Victoria Alexis Yard as Rumpleteazer Steven Etienne as Mungojerrie Lauren Brooke Tatum as Jennyanydots Danny Iktomi Bevins as Skimbleshanks Maggie McCown as Bombalurina Indigo Fobes as Demeter Meredith Crain as Jellylorum Steve Hudson as Gustopher Nick Hagelin as Munkustrap Spencer Dean as The Rum Tum Tugger Harry Francis as Mr Mistoffelees Kevin Harry as Old Deuteronomy Jalise Wilson as Grizabella
Not present are the four students who played ensemble kittens in the first act. (They were adorable to watch and did a great job.)
I can't say enough good things about the cast - they were so much fun to watch. I'm so glad that Harry Francis and Caitlin Bond were able to return to their roles and perform them once more after being so abruptly cut off in 2020.
Congratulations to all involved and thanks for a great time at the theater.
