hello! thank you for the lovely message once again! you inspire me as well! I’m glad you are getting a job soon! I actually use quite cheap stationery, but I hope this guide helps you nonetheless. I’ll also include other masterposts that I hope you also check out!

* materials that I personally use will be indicated by an asterisk!materials that I highly recommend will be italicized!

Pens

What to look for? You generally want a pen that glides on the paper smoothly, doesn’t bleed through the pages, and has an ideal point. My favorite points are 0.5 and 0.3, but you can find sizes from 0.05 - 1, so take your pick!Popular Brands: Muji, Pilot* (especially G-Tec* and Frixion*), Uni* (this one’s pretty pricey though), Faber-Castell*, Bic, Papermate. (You can find these pens in many colors!)Other pages:guide to affordable pens (this one’s super comprehensive and really reliable!)pen guide

Liners

What to look for? Most liners bleed through the page regardless of the brand. It’s best to look for a brand whose tip doesn’t wear out easily.Popular Brands: Stabilo (has a wide range of colors), Staedtler, Dong-A*, Sakura Pigma Micron* (I really like the tip of these, but they only have black), Artline, Sharpie Fine Point (bleeds heavily).

Paper

What to look for? For mathematics, your best bet is graphing/grid paper. For notes in text-heavy subject, you should find ruled/lined papers. Try looking for pad paper so you can just carry the pad around instead of loose sheets of paper. If you get pad paper, make sure that it has perforations so you can tear the sheets out easily.Popular Brands: Muji (Muji A5 grid paper), Ampad*, regular notebook paper (can be found in Staples, Walmart, etc.)

Highlighters

What to look for? Pretty much all highlighters have the tendency to bleed or smear ink (except the crayon-type ones!). The most popular among the studyblr community is the Zebra Mildliner, but don’t be peer-pressured into buying it if you have other options!Popular Brands: Zebra Mildliner*, Muji*, Staedtler Textsurfer Gel, Sharpie*, Sharpie Accent Gel, Papermate*, Daiso, Stabilo

Markers

What to look for? I’m not really a marker user, but again, look for markers that don’t bleed through your paper too much! Markers also come in different points so choose wisely. The term “marker” is quite broad though. You may mean coloring markers, brush markers, etc. Popular Brands: Kuretake Zig Brushables*, Tombow Dual Brush Pens*, Copic Markers, ProMarker, Crayola*, Sharpie*, Artline, Faber-Castell.

Notebooks

What to look for? This depends on what you want to use it for. If you want to take notes in class, just get a cheap notebook from Staples. If you want a durable notebook for your journal, consider higher-quality notebooks. There are many types.Popular Brands: Mead Five Star*, Moleskine, Leuchtterm1917. But honestly any notebook is fine in my opinion.

Other Stationery To Buy:

Ruler: Get a 12-inch and a 6-inch (so that you can bring it anywhere on-the-go). Find a clear plastic ruler.Scissors: GET PLASTIC NOT RUBBER/GEL. IT WILL MELT OTHERWISE. AND IT WILL FEEL GROSS.Post-Its: Therse are going to be so helpful!! Get whatever you need (all of them). There are the small ones for indicating important papers/pages. Consider also getting the sticky notes with cute pictures or animals! Those are super motivating haha.Folder/Clipboard: Useful for storing loos sheets of paper!

hey kylie! i have a question! there's this one shopping website that i luv bc everything is so cute!! but for some reason items on the korean version are $15-25 cheaper than the equivalent items on the american version of their site?? would it just be smarter to use koreanbuddy and purchase thru their korean site?? really confused, thanks!! (website is chuu, and its a trustworthy site from my experience!)

it depends! note that when you pay with koreanb uddy you usually have to pay the commission fee and also the international shipping fee as well. sneaky self promo: you can get 50% commission fee if you mention ‘ryeou’ in the referral spot lol. i also find their international shipping reasonable but it’s still a bit pricey in the end (it was about $45 for 4kg i think, express shipping)

i had a look at chuu and they have $9 shipping fee under $100/200 order, and free shipping above that. unless you’re buying a lot of items (since the price difference will add up), i would actually suggest just ordering from their site. once you pay commission fee + shipping fee + currency exchange fee (if you’re not paying in usd), it does add up. but if each item is really that much more expensive then it might be cheaper to go through korean buddy!
