Ryan Ken - they/them/theirs, Jokes. Thoughts. Actor. Nas palavras de Ken (2024): I'm making peace with being disliked. Stanning sobrevive da vulnerabilidade e inseguranças d@s artistas: an artist insecurity is our bridge to them (...) they need us to know their own value and worth and we want to be celebrities or we want to proximities to celebrities - diz Ken sobre as pessoas que fazem parte de standom: so them staying in a state of insecurity is beneficial for our fantasy (...) as an artist, if you really love someone as artist, do you love them enough for them not to need you?
Como artistas de média-arte digital, temos um papel fulcral: “with great power comes great responsibility” - Voltaire.

@ryan_ken_acts hilariously breaks down the way the US government and white people weaponize the Black American identity.
Ryan is specifically satirising this interview with Obama that the Dems trotted out in response to the mass protests against Israel, and Amy Schumer pulling out a cherry-picked interview of MLK during her deranged Zionist cringe posting. The fact that nearly every bald-faced, shameless bureaucratic stonewalling in response to the ceasefire campaign for Gaza has come from a Black female representative also hasn't been lost on the Black community. It's something they're well used to, from the Bush Administration's use of Condoleeza Rice to the Biden Administration and Kamala Harris.
Please go give the videos a view on Ryan's own page, and check out their other content.

[Image IDs: 2 tweets from Ryan Ken (@/ Ryan_Ken_Acts) on 29 Jun 23 reading: I'm thinking about the person who told me that when we were kids their mom would punish them whenever I placed higher than them at an orchestra audition. It didn't matter that I had been playing for longer or that I was more skilled. They should have at least beaten the Black kid.
We had become friends and they told me they were surprised how much they liked me, because they had hated me for years. And so much of my education was being in spaces with people who believe I had stolen something from the simply by also being there. /End IDs]
If Black people get into competitive programs it’s because they don’t deserve to be there, AND if Black people don’t get into competitive programs it’s because they don’t deserve to be there. #WhiteInAmerica
Racists never tire of mental gymnastics or weaponizing laws to maintain their forms of affirmative action.

"One day you will lie to your grandkids about supporting the Palestinians. The same way your grandparents lied to you about supporting the civil rights movement. The only difference now is - now you have a digital footprint, now we have a record of where you stood."
[tiktok by @ryan_ken_acts]
"1,000% they're going to lie. They are absolutely going to lie. The tide is shifting right now, the social conventions around this will change. One day it won't be controversial to say that Palestinians deserve life, dignity, and freedom in their own land, and what happened in Gaza was a tragedy. It won't be. And because these are people who don't have moral courage they will do whatever the social convention is, they have prioritized comfort. And because they have prioritized comfort so much it will feel uncomfortable it will feel uncomfortable to feel like a bad person or like they were on the wrong side of history, so they'll lie. And not only will they lie, they will lie in creative ways that will surprise you. The people you see right now who don't wanna hear anything from Palestinians, are not interested in it at all, will one day quote Palestinian poets, authors, writers, -"

Image Description:
Twitter post from ryan_ken_acts reads "In the US you have to purchase 2 medical insurance plans to insure your entire head. Your regular insurance doesn't cover your eyes or mouth bones."
Followed by a reply by the same user reads, "and y'all reminder insurance for your brain and ears are often separate too. Damn."
End ID.
I'd also like to add sometimes insurance for your medicine/ vaccines is separate from insurance for your doctor.
I'd ALSO like to add on behalf of anyone with a difficult to treat disability. You can have ALL OF THE INSURANCE to treat ALL OF THE BODY PARTS and still end up with a disability that your insurance won't treat.
I have TMD (pain, dislocation, and locking of the jaw joint). That joint is so complex effected by your posture, the curve of your spine, the structure of your skull, the shape of your jaw, the straightness of your teeth, and even things like sleep apnea and snoring. You often have to go to a specialized TMJ (that's the name of the jaw joint) doctor to get treatment for it.
In THEORY you CAN go to an orthodontist to have them try to fix it, but if they fuck it up it'll cause irreversible damage that can only be fixed with surgery.
But the thing is, most TMJ specialists aren't covered by insurance.
Why is this?
Because of how insurance works. If a doctor is covered, that means the insurance and the doctor talked the previous year and came to a reduced price that the insurance company would pay for certain treatments, and the insurance company said "yes, I'm willing to pay a majority of this treatment at this price so my customers won't have to pay the original price".
But because issues with the TMJ joint is so complex, there's no set treatment plans for TMJ. It can be anything from a sleep study and night guard to braces to physical therapy.
Which makes it impossible for insurance to negotiate prices with doctors because 10 different patients can come in and leave with 10 different treatment plans for the different causes of their jaw pain.
So, most TMJ specialists aren't even covered despite the side effects vent debilitating.
I've had to be on a liquid diet for weeks. Sometimes because it hurts too bad and sometimes just because I can't open my mouth enough to put food in.
I was just trying to enjoy my time at a festival a few weeks ago because the pain was so bad my whole head hurt, it triggered a migraine and the pain was shooting down my spine (the TMJ joint is right by some really large nerves in the face).
And I can't go to the fucking doctor for it.
Because insurance won't cover the doctor that I need for it.
(I can't go to an orthodontist for it because I already have issues with trigeminal nerve in my face, and I need a specialist to make sure the treatment doesn't fuck that shit up worse. An orthodontist can't look at that. A TMJ specialist can.)

Hahahaha ok two main thoughts: 1) Peter Morgan should take notes, this is an impeccable piece of storytelling and 2) if I was more creative and less lazy this would have been great to do with Billy the Work Experience Kid haha
