part of what’s so fun to explore about the reds and blues in the realm of headcanons and fanworks is the fact that i wholeheartedly believe that they’re bound by the laws of comedy in the sense that they have the capacity to forgive absolutely anyone and bring them into the fold if it would be funny enough to do so.
bringing locus into the fold after season 15? objectively funny. the reds are gonna force him into domesticity if they die trying. sarge is gonna make him sit on the couch and watch top gun while donut paints his nails and grif de-tangles his hair, and he's gonna like it, damnit
the freelancers come back from the dead and need a couch or two or five to crash on? ehh who cares that wyoming and maine tried to kill them - so did wash, and look at him now!
the reds and blues should rehab former antagonists like they're rescue dogs that just need to be re-socialized
tbh i think red team has an easy time staying in contact post canon. like yeah i know donut wasn’t there in restoration but i think they would still know where he is and what he’s up to and stuff. grif and simmons would still talk and grif would still try to convince him to come home. they would talk about sarge and on the anniversary of his death they would all try to at least video chat.
the comradery within red team is something that is unsaid but ultimately true and i think that’s my favorite thing about them. a lot of their devotion to each other is through action rather than words (simmons grabbing grif’s hand as he falls off a cliff, sarge noting all of donut’s quirks and using that to discern whether or not he’s in danger, etc).
even between red team and blue team. yeah they have this little rivalry going on and they talk mad shit but red team still decided to help out caboose in the end to save tucker. even if they didn’t use flowery words while doing it.
i have a lot of feelings about red team. i think that in comparison’s to blue team’s melancholy red team channels more of nostalgia. not really mourning or grieving the past but remembering it fondly despite it not being here anymore. and then moving on. like their attitude towards sarge and even church (and if you reach far enough like me, doc).
so it’s that fondness that keeps them so easily in touch. they aren’t so scared of losing one another they hold on too tight, but they also like each other so they make effort to spend time together.
some low effort doodles of York + some of the reds! I can’t tell if Simmons would enjoy him being around or be jealous there’s someone else good with tech around.
Yes Donut calls them blow buddies because they both lost an eye to an explosive
