okay so here’s a bit of pre meeting between dally and darry but

okay so i think darry used to work as a busboy/waiter throughout most of his high school career because he wanted to save up for a car of his own (which he’s grateful for now because it provided him somewhat of a footing when his parents passed) but one day dally came in with his younger brother to dine and dash because that’s the only thing they could do to get food because eating scraps just wasn’t cutting it anymore; and so obviously the two of them just eat until they can’t anymore and start cooking it. darry being on the football team was sent after then, and at first he did go after them because he was told to and he was kinda pissed that they did that-but he caught the two of them and dallas was actually willing to start fighting and he was just swearing and spitting at darry before darry caught sight of the both of them and kinda just let them go? he kinda just ended up getting a good look at how thin they both looked and told them that “he’d say he hadn’t been able to catch them if they never showed up again”, and they didn’t. yet sometimes darry would leave boxes outside for them to take

so that’s when dally started thinking darry was pretty cool.

Out of Context WIP

Dally felt the ice shooting through his veins as he called out once more.

“Rusty..? C’mon, kid, this ain’t funny…” his tone held that pleading note to it. That note he’d use to beg his father to not lay a hand on baby Rusty. The same tone he’d used in his mama to beg her to quit drinking so much. The same tone he’d unlearned sometime since he’d run away. But there was no response. Rusty’s head lolled to the side, blood dribbling down his chin.

“No…no, no, no, no, goddamnit, kid, why’d you have to-“ his breath caught in his throat as he moved his brother’s hair from his eyes, being greeted with dull amber and blue eyes, eyes that normally glowed like candlelight at the simplest of things. And he let out a sob. He let out a disgustingly disgraceful sob.

“Goddamnit, baby…why’d it have to be you..?”
