Marathon 2.0

I'm doing it again.  I am committing to another round of low key Friday evenings, early weekend wake up calls, and sore hips.  I know there will be times over this 16 week time frame where all I want to do is relax at home with a glass of wine, rather than sweat my face off in the afternoon sun.  I know that on some days I will be grumpy and tired.  But despite this, the decision to sign up for my second marathon was an easy one. It was easy because of this guy:

That's my dad.  He and his friends been hitting the Southern California marathon and ultra-marathon circuit together for the past 7 years.  When I committed to running my first full last fall, it was something I did on my own.  I didn't have a running group to latch on to or a friend who was willing to take this challenge on with me.  My dad was the one who mentored me through every week of training, despite living 1,000 miles away. 

So when I got call last spring asking me to join him and his gang at the Long Beach Marathon in October, it was a no brainer.  I am only 7 weeks into part two's training, and I know I still have a ways to go, but October 13, 2013 cannot get here fast enough.
