How about 🎀 & 🎟️ :3?
Hope you & your f/os have a great day & thank you for the ask! 😊 @missnaunet @watersofcamelot @hades-beloved @frankyswife @self-shippy @cruising-thru-the-starz @mocuish1e @dreams-of-the-void @urbanshadelovebirds
🧠: What personality trait initially attracted you to your F/O?
Her being bold is what I find attractive.
👚: If your F/O wears multiple outfits in canon, what’s your favorite? If they don’t, what style do you think they’d look good in?
Tumblr media
Her wearing a crop top is my favorite outfit.
💒: Are you and your F/O married, or have you ever thought about it? What kind of wedding did you have/would you want?
We both thought about marriage. I would like to have a dark purple and gold wedding & about 100 people at the wedding.
🌸: What kind of flower do you think suits your F/O most?
I think Echinacea suits Rumi the most.
🎟: Is there a couple from another story that reminds you of your self ship or that you take a lot of inspiration from for self ship stuff?
No, there isn't.
🎀: What kind of gifts do the two of you get each other for things like birthdays, anniversaries, or gift-giving holidays?
Clothing, fitness accessories, cook books, jewelries, kitchen accessories, & plushies.
💖: Free pass to gush about whatever you’d like!
I love her so very much! 🥰 I love how soft she is when she's with me when we're alone together. I love how she talks softly to me, it just so cute every time she does it. Rumi is such a cuddlier & she teases me when I'm being clingy and wanting cuddles. When we cuddle, we always do the nose nuzzle before we kissed. I love waking up next to her in the mornings. We always finger trace on each others' arms and say sweet nothings to each other. Sometimes in the mornings, we would watch the sunrise together before making breakfast. As for breakfast, Rumi eats avocado toast, eggs, & bacon. She loves when I make me for her for breakfast. Before one of us leaves for the day, we always hug & kiss to tell each other to have a good day with a lovely smile. Rumi & I love exercising together, it's so much fun. We either do cardio kickboxing or a workout on DVD. I love her muscular arms so much. When she flex them, it makes me flustered every time. I love to put my hand around her upper arm & she doesn't mind it at all. I admire on how strong she is. Her rabbit ears are so soft, she only trust me to touch them. She loves when I'm petting her ears, it's so soothing to her. After dinner, we have a bowl of baby carrots and eat them together while watching a TV show/movie, along with cuddling. I think about her all day, she's just so beautiful! 🥰

The moon holds deep symbolic meaning in Persian culture, often appearing in poetry, literature, and art. It has been a source of inspiration for Persian poets, mystics, and lovers for centuries. Here are a few ways the moon is viewed and represented in Persian culture:
1. Symbol of Beauty and Love
The moon (ماه, mâh) is frequently used as a metaphor for beauty, particularly in describing a beloved’s face. The phrase "ماه‌رو" (mah-ro), meaning "moon-faced," is a common expression used to describe someone with striking beauty.
In classical Persian poetry, lovers often compare their beloved’s face to the brightness and purity of the full moon. For example, poets like Hafez and Rumi have referred to their beloveds as "my moon" to express admiration and longing.
2. Representation of Mystery and Divinity
The moon, often associated with the night, holds a mystical significance in Persian culture. The night and the moon evoke feelings of introspection and connection with the divine. Sufi poets like Rumi use the moon as a symbol for the divine presence or the beloved in spiritual and mystical contexts.
The moon’s phases, especially the waxing and waning, are sometimes seen as metaphors for life’s cycles, human emotions, and the changing nature of the self and the universe.
3. Symbol of Change and Transience
The changing phases of the moon are often symbolic of life’s impermanence and the cycles of time. In Persian literature, the moon is used as a reminder that everything, no matter how beautiful, will go through phases of fullness and decline.
This symbolism is sometimes reflected in sayings like "ماه همیشه پشت ابر نمی‌ماند" ("The moon doesn't stay behind the clouds forever"), suggesting that difficult times will pass, and clarity or beauty will return.
4. Symbol of Guidance and Hope
In many Persian stories and poems, the moon serves as a guide through the darkness, symbolizing hope and direction in difficult times. Its light represents wisdom and clarity when one feels lost, and its constant presence in the sky offers a sense of reassurance and continuity.
The moon is also a beacon for lovers separated by distance, representing the hope that they will one day reunite. Often, lovers look up at the moon, knowing that their beloved, wherever they are, is seeing the same moon.
5. Mythological and Astrological Significance
In ancient Persian mythology, the moon was associated with the goddess Mah, who was revered as a deity of fertility, harvest, and the cycle of time.
In Persian astrology, the moon is also important and influences emotions, moods, and personal destiny. The moon’s phases are considered significant for understanding changes in one's life, especially in romantic relationships and personal growth.
6. Romantic and Spiritual Poetry
The moon’s symbolic presence is at the heart of classical Persian poetry, especially in the works of Hafez, Saadi, Rumi, and other great poets. The moon is often mentioned alongside stars and night to create a setting filled with longing, love, and mystery. In many poems, the poet’s beloved is compared to the moon, symbolizing their unattainable or distant beauty.
An example from Hafez: "هر شب ز ماهرویی، در حلقه‌ی صبوحی / ابروی یار بینم، در چین جام ساقی"
Translation: "Every night I see the face of a moon-faced beauty, in the circle of dawn / I see my beloved's eyebrows, in the folds of the cupbearer’s wine glass."
7. Cultural Celebrations
The moon also plays a role in Persian cultural celebrations and calendars. The Persian New Year (Nowruz) is based on the solar calendar, but lunar phases are still observed in traditional rituals and religious festivals, especially in Islamic observances, which are based on the lunar calendar.
The moon in Persian culture is a multi-faceted symbol, representing beauty, love, change, hope, and divine mystery. Its presence in Persian literature and art enriches the cultural expression of emotions and spirituality.

ISLAM 101: Spirituality in Islam: Part 252
Qast and ‘Azm (Decision and Resolution)
Qast means confidence, determination, choosing, and advancing straight toward a destination, thinking and reasoning moderately and deliberately, and living a moderate and balanced life. For Sufis, this term represents an initiate’s pursuit of love and the pleasure of God, the Truly Beloved One, and the intent to realize this goal:
The heart is the home of God, clean it of others than Him, So that the All-Merciful may descend into His home at night.
The couplet above, recorded by Ibrahim Haqqi of Erzurum in his Ma’rifetname (Book of Knowledge), expresses the intention of obtaining true love and His pleasure, and tells how to realize it. It concisely describes the way between decision and resolution and from resolution to destination. The only way to obtain peace of mind and be at rest without going to extremes and being exposed to spiritual trouble and pain is to seek the love and pleasure of God, and then order one’s life around this aim. Rumi says:
A heart devoid of the Friend and seeking Him cannot be freed from trouble and pain. [As for] a head in which there is no love of the Friend, do not attempt to find any meaning and value in it, for it consists of bones and skin.
Those who have set their hearts on Him and have decided to reach Him never neglect to follow a way toward Him and to meet the necessities of traveling on it. [1] Even if they turn their eyes from Him for a single moment to look to others, they sigh for a whole lifetime. How unfortunate is the one who lives unaware of a way leading to Him. What a great loss, impossible to compensate, it is to fall and get stuck on the way after taking it.
Decision first appears and develops in the heart, grows firmer and stronger as a feeling, and then becomes a very powerful drive directing one toward his or her destination. In this context, decision signifies an intention and resembles a seed sown in the heart’s soil. If the one who has this intention or seed in his or her heart receives help from God Almighty, the seed germinates and grows into an elaborate, fruitful tree. After a few steps traveled in decision, one finds resolution, which is defined as being determined to do something, steadfast in one’s pursuit, and consciously fulfilling all responsibilities undertaken. Resolution is the first step toward the “heavens” of reliance and surrender. The Qur’an describes this step and the final point to be reached: When you are resolved, rely on (or put your trust in) God (3:159). If this first step can be taken through reliance on and submission to God, then the road becomes level and easy to walk on, and one travels it as if flying through the air.
Decision and resolution are two important dimensions or functions of willpower. Every traveler who intends to make a long journey must stop at the station of decision and resolution to receive the permit or visa, given by God, in order to progress to higher stations. Only after this does the journey truly begin. One who has taken the wings of decision and resolution feels attracted toward the goal and, no longer advancing by his or her own power, is taken to it. A friend of God says: Whoever overflows with the desire to meet with God, despite his inability to fulfill the requirements of the way leading to his goal, God Himself comes to him. God then becomes his or her eyes with which to see, ears with which to hear, and tongue with which to speak.
For the traveler who flies along on the wings of decision and resolution, meeting with God means finding subsistence in or through annihilation. For those with whom God wills and desires to meet, it means subsistence within subsistence, [2] and they suffer no trouble or pain in the “virtuous circle,” [3] where they encounter good after good. In this circle pain changes into pleasure, and wrath or chastisement are manifested as favors. One who has reached this point always utters in pleasure: Whatever comes from You, whether it be a favor or punishment, is good. With a cup of resignation in one’s hand, he or she sips whatever comes from God, the Truth, as if it were the water of Paradise.
[1] There is more than one way to God. It is said that there are as many ways or paths to God as there are breaths of people. Such a statement is said to express the differences in people’s temperaments and moods. In addition, spiritual orders use different rituals to help their initiates make progress on the spiritual path. [2] This phrase denotes the concept of compound subsistence, defined as a “firmer subsistence” and as “being well-versed or grounded in subsistence.”[3] This is the opposite of the “vicious circle” that so many people encounter in their daily lives.

Sufism is a mystical branch of Islam focused on seeking a direct, personal experience of God. Often called "Islamic mysticism," Sufism emphasizes the inward search for God and aims to cultivate a deep spiritual connection through practices of devotion, contemplation, and self-purification. Sufis believe that this journey leads to unity with the divine and the shedding of one's ego, allowing them to experience an intimate closeness to God.
Origins and History of Sufism
The origins of Sufism date back to the earliest years of Islam in the 7th century. Early Muslims, inspired by the simplicity and humility of Prophet Muhammad and his companions, focused on intense devotion and asceticism, or renunciation of worldly desires, to seek closeness to God. Over time, this inward, mystical approach developed into what we know as Sufism.
The word "Sufi" is often thought to derive from the Arabic word suf, meaning "wool," reflecting the simple woolen garments that early practitioners wore to symbolize humility and detachment from worldly pleasures. By the 10th century, Sufism had evolved into a more structured practice, with Sufi orders (known as tariqas) forming around spiritual leaders and teachers. These orders became centers for spiritual learning, meditation, and communal worship, spreading throughout the Islamic world from Spain and North Africa to Central Asia and India.
Key Concepts of Sufism
1. Tawhid (Unity of God): The central tenet of Sufism, like Islam, is tawhid, the belief in the oneness of God. Sufis view all creation as a reflection of God, and the ultimate goal is to recognize and experience unity with the divine.
2. Ihsan (Perfection of Worship): Sufism emphasizes ihsan, which means worshiping God as though you see Him, and knowing that He sees you. This concept encourages Sufis to practice mindfulness, sincerity, and deep devotion in their worship.
3. Divine Love: Sufi teachings often describe the soul’s journey toward God as a path of love. This love is seen as the force that moves the soul toward unity with God, symbolized in the poetic language of lover and beloved.
4. Fana (Annihilation) and Baqa (Subsistence): In the process of reaching God, Sufis seek fana, or the annihilation of the self and ego. This is followed by baqa, a state of spiritual subsistence in which the individual lives in harmony with God’s will, experiencing continuous awareness of the divine presence.
5. The Spiritual Journey: The journey of a Sufi is often described in stages, where each stage or “station” involves spiritual practices, self-discipline, and guidance from a teacher. This process of personal transformation is meant to lead the seeker to enlightenment, self-awareness, and union with God.
Sufi Practices and Rituals
Sufi practices are designed to nurture the seeker’s inner connection with God, deepen their faith, and encourage self-transformation. Some of the core practices include:
Dhikr (Remembrance of God): Dhikr is the repeated chanting of divine names or phrases, often accompanied by rhythmic movement or breathing. This practice helps focus the mind on God and clears away distractions.
Meditation and Contemplation: Many Sufi orders practice meditation to deepen their connection with the divine. Meditation, often focused on verses of the Quran or poetry, encourages mindfulness and spiritual reflection.
Sama (Listening) and Whirling: Some Sufi orders, like the Mevlevi order founded by Rumi's followers, practice Sama, which includes listening to music, poetry, or chanting, and the famous whirling dance. The whirling dervishes use this dance as a form of moving meditation to reach states of ecstasy and spiritual insight.
Sufi Orders and Teachers
Sufism often involves following a sheikh or pir, a spiritual teacher who guides disciples along the path. Some of the most well-known Sufi orders include the Qadiriyya, Chishti, Naqshbandi, and Mevlevi orders. Each order has its own distinct practices, rituals, and emphasis on different teachings.
The relationship between the Sufi seeker (called a murid) and their teacher is central. The teacher provides guidance and transmits spiritual wisdom through both direct teaching and personal example. Many Sufi orders stress that it’s through submission and devotion to a teacher that disciples can overcome their egos and grow spiritually.
Sufism's Universal Appeal and Influence
While rooted in Islam, Sufism emphasizes the universal aspects of spirituality. Its message of love, peace, tolerance, and unity with God has had an enduring appeal across cultures and faiths. Sufi poetry and literature, especially that of poets like Rumi, Hafiz, and Ibn Arabi, express this universal spirituality, often exploring the mystical relationship between God and humanity in ways that transcend specific religious doctrine.
In summary, Sufism offers a path of inner transformation and personal connection with God, focusing on love, self-purification, and spiritual awareness. Sufi traditions and teachings remind us of the profound and shared spiritual potential within us all, encouraging the heart's journey toward love, compassion, and unity with the divine.

Kaafir buvad aan kas ke ba inkaar baraamad
Mardood-e-jahaan shud
Notes by scholar Homayra Ziad: 1. Sly beloved or ayyār: An ayyār is a “pious rogue” and Love often appears in this form in Persian Sufi poetry.
2. Many manifestations of Reality: This imagery evokes the infinite manifestations of the Divine Unity. A Qur’anic verse that is often cited by Sufis is: “And God’s in the East and the West. Wherever you turn, there is God’s Face.” (Sura 2:115) All distinctions vanish in the Face of God. This is the central idea evoked by Sachal Sarmast too in the next song. In a similar poem, Kabir says…  In an elephant you became an elephant An ant is just a little you! As an elephant driver you sit on top  the one saying “move along” is you only you! With thieves you become a thief You’re in with the scoundrels too! You’re the one who robs and runs! The cop who nabs you, is you only you! (A song from the oral traditions of Kabir in Malwa in central India, translation by Linda Hess) 3. The broken cup: The broken cup means that no category is absolute, and that divine manifestations are always in a state of flux. The only absolute is God’s essence. 4. “Until one day he emerged…”: A reference to the Prophet (the Perfect Human, insān-i kāmil). 5. Veiling the truth: According to the Persian scholar Mohammad Reza Shafi'i-Kadkani, the last two stanzas were originally: Rumi sokhan-e kofr nagoftast (nagofteh ast) o nagooyad Monker nashavidash Kafir bovad an kas keh be enkar daramad az doozakhian shod
Many thanks to Fereshteh Amanat-Kowssar at Yale University for pointing this out. I have translated the poem based on the original, which makes far more sense than the sung version. Kufr means hiding or covering up, and the word kāfir is used to describe one who “covers up” or denies the truth. Rumi’s words, though apparently blasphemous, are closer to the truth.

Salem, I hope you’re doing well :]
Not sure if this is asked to you frequently (and if so I’m sorry lol) but who are your top 3 poets of all time and why? What is a poem that you think everyone should read?
ps - i love ur content a lot :,) 🫂
Salam. Don't be sorry. I'm always happy to get more asks. It's hard to list favourite poets of all time. Let's just list three names coming to my mind rn:
1. Mahmoud Darwish: Poetry about love and homeland. Yearning for the beloved homeland, beloved mother. His poems talk about love in difficult times. Times when are to choose between your homeland and your love. The smartest poet of all time.
2. Hazrat Maulana Rumi: Popularly known as Mevlana. His poems bring peace to heart, take closer to the Beloved.
3. Parveen Shakir: Her poems are sad. And when I'm sad for some reason, I read her poetry, only to get more and more sad.
You should listen to this poem.
Thanks a lot again. You're special.

ISLAM 101: Spirituality in Islam: Part 152

Dawn, I truly... wow!!! I can’t get over the Forget Me Not series. It has absolutely taken over every part of my being. I spent days just absorbing everything I could. It was so visceral for me to read this piece! It’s as if I were watching a movie with anticipation and awe. Everything seemed so well thought out. The descriptions are absolutely stunning. The details you put into every scene—you’re so thoughtful of all of them. It’s obvious to me that you take your time to write each character, and it’s done in such a beautiful way that makes anyone enjoy reading you so much. And my god, it’ll never be “too much information.” Not when Dawn does it! The characterization, the description of what they’re feeling and experiencing, the thoughts and emotions... It’s just so breathtaking. I’ll never lose a opportunity to tell you how amazing and extremely talented you are! I am completely enamored with your writing—it has its own way, and the emotions that arise while reading are what I admire the most. Dawn, you were born for this. Your work doesn’t feel like I’m reading a fan fiction; it feels like I’m reading a published book. Each chapter leaves me wanting more and more… It’s late (where I live) right now, I’m dying to go to sleep, but I just wanted to let you know: Thank you so much for taking the time to write and share your talent with us. Honestly, I could say so much more about this series, but what I can’t seem to find it’s a way good enough to describe the way you write each emotion; it all feels so raw and human, it’s so refreshing to read. I love you in a way that you’re so talented that I can’t help but wish you more and more creativity and time to write so many more of masterpieces! You’re one of my favorites (if not, the favorite) here, so please, take care of yourself, Dawn! <3
