Some get insecure if you even IMPLY it. I commented on the 50th Anniversary special animation on YouTube that I enjoyed how Rukia got so much attention. A war started in the replies about Ichiruki even though I never brought it up.
I like Ichihime, don’t get me wrong, but I’m never the one to start arguments.
ichihime shippers getting insecure over ichiruki fanart will never not be funny 😂

I mean, it must be wild being a random regular shinigami in Seretei.
"What? A human teenager broke into Seretei and has been kicking seated officers' asses left and right and is actually winning??"
"Sir, did that boy just, I don't know, FLY to get to Sokyoku and faced off against all vice captains and captains??"
"Did you just say he's been shinigami for mere months, and he's managed to use bankai? I've been shinigami for like 100 years and haven't even come close!"
"I'm sorry. Did you hear what he said while battling against Captain Kuchiki? He became THAT strong and gained bankai for HER sake???"
Just saying, think about what kind of stories must have spread throughout soul society at that time?
I don't care if y'all say they're just friends. After all THAT, some elaborate star-crossed lovers, "prince" rescuing the "princess" sort of fairy tale, would definitely have spread throughout soul society.
Also, consider Fade to Black events...
"Oh, that whole mess was because of someone obsessing over Kuchuki Rukia. AGAIN."
"Yeah, that human shinigami boy came rushing to her rescue, was even willing to go against the officers just to get to her, and was at the forefront of the battle against this entity threatening the entire Seretei, YET AGAIN. Why am I not surprised?"
...If anything, though, after SS arc, regular shinigamis would have probably started questioning how powerful the captains are if one unhinged teenager on a mission managed to best most of them. Just sayingggg.

Hello! I’m a big fan of your analysis, thank you for all of them! Now I’m curious about how do you think it works the shinigami aging and reproduction? It’s very confuse to me since Rukia gave birth and before that, we knew omaeda had a big family, kuchuki, shiba and shihouin lineages etc. I can’t think how this is possible even in bleach’s world knowing that Rukia and renji do not have noble blood. Although I think with ichigo I’d would work since he’s shiba but renji ??? 🤔
Thanks!
My sense is that only souls with reiryoku (and thus reiatsu) notably age. Shortly after fighting Jidanbo and Gin at the gate, Chad again encounters Yuuichi Shibata, and then meets Hironari Horiuchi, who died in the 1940s but is clearly still a kid. We already know that souls without much power don’t feel thirst or hunger, so it would make sense that they also don’t age. On the surface of it, given that, it would make sense that they also can’t reproduce and create new souls, but that is merely an assumption. (The alternative is that every soul is capable of reproducing, but there is no real evidence to support that idea.)
Souls with power (e.g., Rukia) do need to eat and drink, and do age, albeit seemingly extremely slowly after physiological development finishes. Until somewhere around the onset of puberty, they seem to age roughly as usual by human standards. It would make sense that, rather than noble blood being a prerequisite to reproduction, it’s simply power. (You would expect this to mean, over long periods of time, more of the population acquiring power.) The nobles are the nobles mostly because they had power from the beginning, but they’re clearly not the only ones with it, so they’re not the only ones that can reproduce.
Considering there is not a single married couple introduced among the Shinigami throughout the run of the manga other than Kaien and Miyako, it can be inferred this is not common though. It also suggests that either 1. sexual relations are infrequent (likely due to stress) or 2. that kidou is universally used for birth control. (A possible alternative is that homosexuality is officially encouraged, but this “encouragement” would have to go far beyond that of even Tokugawa-era Japan and there is simply no evidence for it.) It could also be a mix of the two. (1) has additional, rather disturbing and sinister implications as it reinforces what else we know about Soul Society, but that is beyond the scope of the question.

If not then, then when the Fullbring Arc came to a close. If it were up to me, the series should’ve ended after Ichigo lost his powers or after a slightly longer Fullbring Arc that wrapped up a few plot threads that were still a bit unanswered. While I prefer the bittersweet ending, I’m still a sucker for a happy ending, which this alternate Fullbring Arc would’ve given.
not to be sick in the head but I think bleach should have ended with rukia disappearing and maybe an extra outro chapter for the angst I would’ve genuinely handled it better

Okay, so, one of my viewers gave me an anon asking about Bleach and my favorite characters. I deleted the ask by accident after trying to answer (sorry), so here’s the other collective answer:
Inoue Orihime (Pacifist Queen of my Heart/and Fairy Goddess when you stop to think about it)
Yamada Hanataro (precious, adorable, falling down puppy-kitten-bunny hybrid that he inspires one to consider him as)
Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez (look at the angry kitty~ I love this asshole)
Ulquiorra Schiffer (raise your hand if you see him asking Inoue questions and don’t think of BH6′s Baymax)
Kira Izuru (he just needs love; like, SO, SO badly)
Abarai Renji (his existential angst that comes in the form of tattoos is actually NOT unfounded)
Kurosaki Ichigo (okay, near the ending I tend to shy away from him as a whole, but he has this whole Star Wars/Shakespeare/Bronte/Dickens destiny glory surrounding all his speeches so...yeah)
Kuchuki Rukia (she sleeps in a closet and isn’t worthless as a person)
Yasutora “Chad” Sado (Does this even require explaining?)
Hisagi Shuhei (his sword is an asshole, and Hisagi is a lovingly sweet little dork; my aesthetic)

Watch me piss off everyone involved at once.
Ichihime and Renruki are perfectly fine ships in their own right and having them be canon is in no way a bad thing. Would I have liked more development? Yes, but considering I also approve of the ending ships in Naruto, most of which having just as little development, I can live with Ichihime and Renruki. The ending ships are not the problem with Bleach’s ending.
Ichihime actually has more moments than one might think, including within the Soul Society Arc. I definitely recommend a rewatch of the early show and specifically search for that kind of stuff. I just kinda feel sorry for the shippers because they only got the crumbs of what made Ichiruki so popular.
Renruki definitely deserved more time and attention. Their backstory is fascinatingly deep, and I really feel for Renji. The only problem is with Renji’s introduction, which is so blatantly out of character for him compared to what we know of him later.
All of this to say, both are perfectly fine ships that deserved the canon confirmation we got… but Ichiruki is right there. I don’t think we will ever find such a relationship in Shonen manga ever again. There’s such a connection that these two possess and continue to show. There is no Ichigo without Rukia, and there is no Rukia without Ichigo. I headcanon them as soulmates for that very reason, and I don’t care whether that’s platonic or romantic. They just click.
I know toxic shippers are everywhere when it comes to this kind of stuff. Ichihime and Renruki fans arrogantly flaunting their canon, all the while we have Ichiruki fans who refuse to just accept and continue to yell verbal abuse. I have seen both sides, but neither are inherently evil. We just have very vocal minorities that are not afraid to get angry and yell.
All three ships are great. Thank you for paying attention.
