Little free library sells a barn library and I really want it but I don’t know if I’m allowed to put one up on my property
I mean I don’t see how it’s different from other garden fixtures but the property management is also very odd so I don’t know

A book about finding purpose. What a wonderful premise. I went into this book blind and had no expectations. I didn't even know the characters were people of colour until I started reading. It was certainly a nice surprise and an interesting view of the publishing world (a world the author actually comes from!). The writing style wasn't bad but also not exceptional. The book overall definitely had a slow feeling to it which I hoped would eventually change. It didn’t but in the end it kind of fit the mood of the story and Nora's "three". Nonetheless, Nora's reflection on suicide felt a little shocking and unexpected as a reader. I wish there had been some sort of hint that this was how extreme her feelings and thoughts were. That being said, it is definitely something I am glad to see discussed. It is a delicate matter but very relatable. Depression and the general search for purpose is something many people (especially new adults) struggle with. Despite the slow feeling of the book, I had to keep reading to see how things would unfold and I have to say I'm pleased. Lastly, I loved that a man wasn't the final solution to all of Nora's problems. Sure he was there to support and guide and just be totally awesome (where can I find me an Andrew Santos?!) but unlike other books, he wasn't the answer, he wasn't her purpose. Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks for this ARC! Book goes on sale January 18, 2022.

"Before these lessons I was often oblivious to a very simple fact: the person living with depression is not the only one who suffers at its hands. Every family member, romantic partner and close friend suffers too. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again, living with depression isn’t easy but loving someone who lives with depression isn’t easy either."

I haven't picked up a YA novel in quite a while, but when I was offered Emma Lord's most recent YA as an ARC, I couldn't say no. I thought I was no longer at a point in my life where I could enjoy YA, but Lord proved me wrong. Her tale quickly sucked me back into the world of YA. At times I felt like I was back at my small town university and it filled my heart with a warm glow.
I love that I just happened to start reading this book on national bagel day. I also love how food is integrated into all of Lord's stories. She definitely speaks more than one of my love languages.
I enjoyed this almost as much as I enjoyed Tweet Cute and y'all know I loved Tweet Cute. If you've read Lord's work before, I highly encourage you to pick this one up too, and if you haven't I highly recommend her work. Now quick, grab yourself a bagel and some coffee and read this book. Once you're done reading, I want to know, are you team Milo or team Connor?
Thank you Emma Lord, Netgalley, and St. Martin's Press for this eGalley!

"For showing me that happiness isn’t about where you live or what you achieve. A home isn’t walls, a roof, and a floor. It’s a feeling; it comes with being seen and accepted for who you are. It’s finding the person who makes you feel alive no matter where you are or what you accomplish. The person who makes you feel like you could have nothing and still have everything. It’s unconditional love"

"While people’s reactions were varied, for the most part they contained nuggets of either fear or scepticism. They were either unwilling to believe I was depressed, preferring to look at me as someone who was lazy and melodramatic, and if they did believe me, they saw me as someone who wasn’t entirely stable. Even then I knew that caution and apprehension were natural reactions to things that are not fully understood, but it was difficult not to take these reactions at least a little personally, especially when they came from ‘adults’."

My favourite part of this book was definitely Avasarala, and not just because her pistachios made a come back, although I definitely smiled every time her pistachios were mentioned. What I love most about Avasarala is the way her private softness contrasts with her public leadership persona. It makes her feel incredibly real, so relatable. She's just like you and me but she's also Avasarala - the icon.
While Babylon's Ashes wasn't my favourite book in the series, it wasn't a bad read either. It felt more like a "sequel" to Nemesis Games rather than another addition to The Expanse series. The series is all interconnected of course, but each book usually has a uniqueness to it and I didn't get that same feeling from Babylon's Ashes. That being said, I'm excited to see what happens next in the series. There was a fundamental shift in the story that has me wondering which characters will rise to the occasion for the next war or conflict, and how the dynamic between them will change.
Do you have a favourite character from The Expanse series or show? I'd love to hear who it is! Avsarala is definitely one of my favourites. My mom thinks I've made up this "Avsarala" character and name, but mom, believe me, she's real - at least in this fictional world. But I'm convinved she might be real in real life too and uses our car. Why else would there be a bag of pistachios in the car?
This was another pseudo buddy read with @artbymeezy (check him out on insta), but this time I finished reading first because he was busy having an IRL adventure. One day, we'll get the timing right. Maybe for a LOTR re-read?

I love Lauren Graham so much. Everything I've experienced of hers makes me love her even more. So when I found out she was publishing another book I knew I had to read it.
A big shoutout to bookstagram for encouraging me to not only read it but also listen to the audiobook.
After reading the book from the library, I downloaded the audiobook and listened to it while I skated for hours on a sunny morning. It was perfection.
Lauren Graham is charming and absolutely underrated. I also feel like I'd listen to her read her grocery list to me so you've been warned in case you're like "I don't know why Rukhsar liked this so much".
Have you read or listened to "Have I told you this?" yet? What did you think?
