I made yumia nonbinary with neither tendency but their base is either transmasc or cis man. Like why I didn’t make them masc. their base never failed to be part of more masc character of the unit and i even deliberately draw yumia when i listen to transmasc playlist. With all of these masc tendencies and i still didn’t make them masc.

Japanese fandom abbreviations are so funny because they really went Wonderland x Showtime -> Wondershow -> Wansho. Same with ship names like RuiTsukasa -> Ruitsuka -> Rutsu (or ritk if using roman letters). It's a race to shortening it as much as possible

(for context, wansho is ワンショ and rutsu is ルツ when written in japanese. Often it will be written in half width characters like this ﾜﾝｼｮ and ﾙﾂ. I suspect it has something to do with how full width counts as two characters on twitter)

the left/right as top/bottom thing originated in Asian fandom space afaik, which is why it was a lot more common in anime fandoms than western media fandoms. it radiated out into other fandoms that overlapped with anime fandoms, but I wouldn't say it was that widespread.

btw, the top/bottom positioning thing is still extremely common in asian fandoms. if there was no preference or if the couple was reversible, they'd either use a ship nickname (for example the Japan/China ship from hetalia would use "Far East pair" instead of Kiku/Yao) or they'd sandwich (?) it (instead of Ruitsuka or Tsukarui, they'll just use Ruitsukarui)

learned a few months ago that apparently the name position in ship names indicates who's top/bottom???? i thought, okay that's probably a new thing but now i'm wondering......

is this a new thing or have i actually missed a crucial naming convention for ships for more than a decade
