Manchester OPEN EXHIBITION 2020 @ HOME
A ‘must see’!
There’s an amazing array of work of display across the three floors of HOME including works by Angela Tait, David Hancock, Ruby Tingle and Jacqueline Taylor. I love these types of exhibitions that where you get loads of content, style and variety; I think I like the over-powering of the senses and that I can go round and round noticing different things each time.
In an exhibition of this size and scale you also get to see so many different ways of presenting and curating art works. There is work that covers a wide cross-section in terms of scale, size and mediums so it’s worth looking at how other artists have chosen to present their work - framed, hung, on the floor, on a pedestal, in a box, on a box.... the list goes on and on.
I really liked the collages (20 &21 above) - simple ideas executed really well that drew my eye and really appealed to me. I was reminded of a quote by Charles Mingus:
“Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that’s creative.”
So true.
Can’t wait to go back for another visit.
