i love the way crowley exerts so much extra effort to find workarounds for having to do his job and also sets up all these rakes and steps on them later with his low-grade hellish malaise schemes and the upshot of that is he should get really into rube goldberg machines. literally sarah and i were talking this through at 4am because imagine if the season opened with like. a stylistic whimsical worms eye view of the bookshop as a complicated machine goes off and flips spoons and drops books and shuffles cards etc etc and at the end you hear a door buzzer sound and pan over to aziraphale looking up with an annoyed expression and muttering that he told crowley he didnt need a doorbell.
