#the people article is mostly reporting about this 1news interview#personally i think it's nice to hear actors deliberately distancing themselves from future hp work#and that's pretty expected for margolyes because she's been in vocal support of trans people for a while#ru-bi-di-um. that spells rb

don't forget that your organisation tags are not followable on RSS unless you enable custom themes (which don't require you to set up a theme, but do allow the full directory of username.tumblr.com urls to work)
how to keep following people when a major social platform implodes
(...and you don't want to join 20 new websites)
First, get an RSS reader*:
Desktop: Feedbro (browser extension), QuiteRSS, Raven Reader
Android: Feeder
iOS/Mac: NetNewsWire
You'll be able to make a custom feed to follow blogs, webcomics, social media feeds, podcasts, news, and other stuff on the web all in one place. To follow something, find its "feed URL"-- often marked by an icon that looks like this ↓-- and paste it into your reader of choice as a new feed.
Some feed URLs for social media:
Twitter: Feedbro can use Twitter profile URLs as feed URLs. Otherwise, use nitter.net/username/rss (or other Nitter instance) (You can get a CSV file of all the accounts you follow using "Download a user's friends list" on Tweetbeaver)
Tumblr: Use username.tumblr.com/rss or username.tumblr.com/tagged/my%20art/rss to follow a blog's "my art" tag (as an example)
Cohost: Use username.cohost.org/rss/public (WIP feature)
Mastodon: Use instance.url/@username.rss
Deviantart: Info here
Spacehey: Info here
Youtube: Go to a channel in a web browser, view page source, and use Ctrl-F/Command-F to find a link that starts with "https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id="
Instagram: Feedbro can use Instagram profile and hashtag URLs as feed URLs. Otherwise, Instagram doesn't have RSS feeds, and due to aggressive rate limiting on their part, it's not so simple to generate a feed URL.
Facebook: Feedbro can use public Facebook group/page URLs as feed URLs.
(If you know an artist who exclusively posts to Instagram, you may want to gently suggest that they crosspost elsewhere...)
Also see how to find the RSS feed URL for almost any site. Try using public RSS-Bridge instances or Happyou Final Scraper to generate feeds for sites that don't have them (Pillowfort, Patreon, etc).
*You can set up your subscriptions in one reader and import them into another by exporting an OPML file.

also, ao3 uses the browser's font size to determine its own by default!
here's a page that tells you how to zoom, zoom text, and set a default font size in most browsers. It focuses more on the first two options, because they work even when sites set an absolute font size as above.
Setting a larger default font size is useful when you don't want to have images zoomed in all the time, but you still want to be able to use the zoom function on images. In my own life I use increased font sizes because my monitor is high enough resolution for 125% UI scaling, but I hate how blurry it makes everything.
If you work with CSS on ao3, your blog theme, or in the wider web - please use a percentage to define your base font size! there used to be reasons to prefer absolute font sizes, but browsers are more sensible now and hopefully your design code can follow suit.
Yknow, when you keep insisting that adults can’t enjoy fandom or play video games or what cartoons or whatever, it’s other young people that you’re hurting the most. Because the most you’ll do to adults is offend or annoy them with that nonsense, but when you plant that idea in a kid’s head, they grow older with the horrible dread looming over them that the things that bring them happiness and comfort have an expiration date. When I was a young adult, I was genuinely depressed about the thought of getting older because I thought I couldn’t keep enjoying all my hobbies, like I had to give up everything I enjoy once I reach [x] age.
And that is simply not true. It’s bullshit. But the harm is does to people is very real. Kids are so afraid of getting older, and one of the big fears is that their life will become painfully bland and boring once they hit adulthood, as if all adults do is work and pay taxes, possibly raise kids. No more fun, no whimsy, no playfulness, no joy.
Anyway, I’m 33 and I love video games and fanfiction and cartoons. If you tell me I’m too old for that stuff, I’ll roll my eyes and block you and go on with my day. But I will worry about the 17 year old who saw your post too and feels a sinking in their chest at the thought that they have to give up the stuff that makes them happy. THAT’S what bothers me.

... invented hot air
... put the pork on the hog
... put pains in windows (note: pains is spelt to mean agonies)

For what it's worth, you can append "/tagged/[tag]" to "tumblr.com/[blog url]" as well! You don't need a custom theme for that url.
What you do need a custom theme for is description text colour controls - if you want your blog background to be a colour that clashes with the default colour of the description text, you can only change it by accessing the theme editor. You can even switch the custom theme toggle off again afterwards - there's just no place other than the theme editor where the setting's exposed right now.
if you search a tag on someone’s blog on the mobile app it will show you only a selection of posts in an inscrutably random order but if you go to a mobile browser and type [blog url].tumblr.com/tagged/[tag] you will get all posts on that blog with that tag in reverse chronological order. if you add /chrono behind it you get them in regular chronological order. naturally this works in desktop browsers too but i know many people are mobile only these days and the app’s built in tag search is shit so this knowledge is vital to your survival
#i'm also *pretty* sure that you can't enable a custom theme if you're hidden from logged out users. but not sure enough to put it up here#ru-bi-di-um. that spells rb

if you want to go on HRT (no universal qualifiers!) you can. a medicine does not have to have 100% positive outcomes to be worth considering; though i'd recommend not sticking with something that only makes you feel worse.
Apart from a few organs, science is pretty sure not much of what HRT does is any different for you than it would be for a perisex person with the same hormone levels occuring naturally. If they can treat the potential complications of those hormone levels without taking HRT and/or hormone antagonists themselves, then there's no universal, logical reason for a doctor to demand you avoid taking HRT to prevent those complications.
Because human biology has a lot of variation and we will never fully understand it, I've slipped a bunch of caveats into this, and with a good medical support system you should be able to discuss them.
but TL;DR: hormones aren't that dangerous, and you deserve medical autonomy regardless
you do not have to be a trans man to go on testosterone. you do not have to be a trans woman to go on estrogen. whether you're intersex, nonbinary, genderqueer, genderfluid, gender non conforming, multigender, a drag performer, crossdresser or genderfucker, if you want to go on HRT and it won't interfere with your physical health, you can. testosterone is not for men and estrogen is not for women, hormones are not gendered
#i've gotta say there's rarely a drug that has no unwanted side effects. if hormones are just harm reduction for you i still recommend#fuck 'if it won't interfere'. your body already gave you something just as commonly used and it *is* interfering.#and our lives still continue!#my HRT massively improves a lot of things. it also made a couple of things worse. those things are not something that only happen on HRT#and they're absolutely the lesser of two shitty outcomes#ru-bi-di-um. that spells rb#queer resource library

for the record, if you come across a shortened link and you want to know where it redirects without actually visiting it, you can use urlscan.io and their servers will follow it through for you.
legendary
there are QR code posters here in Melbourne for reporting graffiti to the council - and someone has been printing their own and carefully placing them over the official ones
they lead to a documentary on hip-hop/graffiti culture
it's perfect because the QR posters are uglier than any bit of street art

#oooh what a lovely scarf #also am i seeing wrong or is that double sided?
It is double sided! It uses a 1x1 (knit one, purl one) rib stitch. I'd call it the second simplest form of reversible knitting, after garter stitch, which is just knit stitches on every row when you're knitting a flat piece.
Happy Trans Day Of Visibility, and happy one year to my trans flag scarf!
I didn't quite get in 365 rows, but I wasn't strictly aiming for it. Much like transition itself, knitting is best done by your own choice, at your own pace and for your own joy.
Also much like my own transition, looking back over the incremental progress I've made on this project brings me a deep satisfaction. I don't have many bold and meaningful items to wear, but when this is done I hope I get to wear it often. As the tides of pride turn back from celebration to protest, I trust this scarf will serve me well.
#knitting#trans flag scarf#i have a little more info in those tags. but i recommend searching elsewhere for tutorials beyond 'this exact scarf here's pattern'#and if you want to get really into reading about reversible knitting there's a cool book by iris schreier on the internet archive!#ru-bi-di-um. that spells rb#o-ver-pow-ered. that spells op#textilez
