WELCOME TO THE RTCU SEXYMEN TOURNAMENT!

This is fully inspired by a lot of other sexymen tournaments, specifically the rtumblr sexymen (by @//just-illegal) and the mcytblr sexymen tournament.

first of all, this account and event is moderated by only @justtrashperson for now, so if updates are slow, please be patient!

This is a sexymen tournament specifically for different kinds of RTgame AUs, Versions and Personas, so no RTgame characters in here (like cupcake, magical john, etc.). Basically anything that is in the rtcu document or has an rt hair.

Fic Writer 20 Questions

1.) How many works do you have on ao3?

20!

2.) What's your ao3 word count?  

My word count is 224,994 words... which is insane now that I think about it

3.) What fandoms do you write for? 

According to my AO3, I've written for Star Wars, Marble Hornets, Pirates of the Caribbean, Marvel, and DCTV. I've written a few for other fandoms, like RT and FNAF, but they aren't published. I've also written Jurassic Park and Breakfast Club AUs.

4.) What are your top five fics by kudos?

Binary Sunset-- Obi-Wan of the prequels era finds himself in the future, tagging along with The Mandalorian, Din Djarin. The first in a series, it has 823 kudos.

The Cassandra Problem-- Another time travel fic featuring Obi-Wan, but instead of the future Obi-Wan finds himself in the past, literally during the Battle of Theed. At 8 chapters updated, I currently have 11 more written and plenty more to go after that, and it currently sits at 624 kudos.

Is This The Start, Midpoint, or Finale?-- A modern mermaid au for Codywan that I started over 2 years ago. It's still being updated, but has taken a bit of a break for a while while I focused on other projects. It currently has 492 kudos :)

Come Alive-- I wrote this fic in 2017, when I was in my senior year of high school. The ending was rushed (I lost track of where I was going halfway through and fudged my way through the rest, only to remember the original, better, plotline only once it was complete) and I'm not super proud of it anymore, but I do appreciate it for what it was to me at the time. It has 252 kudos!

Duel of the Fates-- The second in the series after Binary Sunset. It's currently the last published in the series, as other projects have taken precedent, but I do plan to get back to it sooner or later. It has 203 kudos.

5.) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Sometimes. I usually mean to respond to all of them, but I never know what to say and so I push it off until I completely forget or feel like too much time has passed and get awkward about it.

6.) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably one of the fics in my Second Chance series, a Bad Batch series where I'm making everything better by making everything worse, first.

7.) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably When My Walls Start Burning Down, a Cody-centric post-war fic. There's still plenty of angst before the happy ending, but I'd definitely consider the ending a happy one!

8.) Do you get hate on fics?

Not that I can think of, but honestly if I did I probably deleted it and then promptly forgot it existed.

9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I have written smut before, Codywan, but it's not something I delve into a whole lot. Not a lot of experience in that department, being aroace and all.

10.) Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I do! Of my published crossovers, my Agent Carter/Pirates of the Caribbean crossover series Skyfall is probably the craziest, but I frequently entertain myself daydreaming about wild crossover ideas.

Some, like Stranger Things/Star wars, aren't quite weird, but I've also had a grand time imagining what a Marble Hornets/Star Wars crossover would look like, and I've definitely thought of others that aren't coming to mind right now.

One of my favorite things to do used to be thinking about the weirdest crossover possible and trying to figure out how it would happen, Fallout Equestria style.

11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think so.

12.) Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, but I'd be honored if anyone ever wanted to do so.

13.) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

@tired-bshocked and I worked together on a fic series, Red Eye, for the 2023 Codywan Reverse Bang, if that counts. We each wrote our own fic in the series, but we of course worked together to make the fics mesh.

14.) What's your all time favorite ship?

See, this is hard because my 'favorite thing' is whatever I'm currently hyperfixating on. I'd say either Codywan or Jay Merrick/Tim Wright (Marble Hornets), because they're my two big fandoms at the moment.

15.) What's a WIP you'd like to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Hmm... my PotC fic, Perdition, only has a few chapters to go, but it's been a while since I updated and I think finishing it at this point will be a luck of the draw. It sucks, though, because I really enjoyed writing the fic and I'm always a sucker for PotC.

16.) What are your writing strengths?

I'm... not actually sure. I've been told a few times that I have a particular writing style, but it's mostly just the way I talk/think so I'm blaming it on the Neurodivergence. I think I'm pretty good with grammar and stuff? That said I still couldn't tell you what an adjective or adverb are (alas, I've never been good at mad libs for this reason) so who even knows at this point!

17.) What are your writing weaknesses?

I've never been able to understand the difference between active and passive voice. I also am apparently incapable of understanding Iambic Pentameter. All-around I have more to learn, but nothing sticks out to me as a particular 'yep focus on this'.

18.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I may have done it once or twice, but I don't remember what I did? Honestly when reading I don't mind how it's done, though I do prefer a way to easily figure out what was said in the other language. Unless, of course, the point is not to know.

19.) First fandom you wrote for?

Honestly, Warriors over on Fanfiction.net. I definitely still have my account over there but I'm not sharing it at all because those fics are from when I was like 12.

Also, when I started writing fanfiction it was before I discovered fanfic was a thing, so I just. Thought I completely invented the concept for a while. I was thrilled when I realized fanfic existed.

20.) Favorite fic you've ever written?

Probably the Cassandra Problem! I recently realized the word count is higher than the entirety of the book Animal Farm, and I'm only about a quarter through it (and there may end up being more than one fic in the series by the end of it) and said realization fucked me up a bit. In a good way. Mostly. Also realized that since I'm updating it a chapter a month, the last chapter I wrote won't be published for another year at this rate.

But I'm having so much fun writing it! Time travel stories are so fun in every iteration to me-- what to change, what not to change, why change one thing and not another, how to react when you're back in your childhood bedroom or when you find out that a future version of you has done something so entirely out of character to you that you can only wonder what's happened...

There's so much potential, and I've had a lot of fun crafting the way that the time travel works in the fic :)

Short answer: Nothing is happening but also the giant butterfly effect started back in the summer of 2020 that what is happening, and here is my board

Long answer aka The History of Rtumblr In Summary That You Might Wanna Know If You Are New Here: So it’s all started on June 8th 2020 when RT took a break and when the post with just three words was created and this post was ‘Kevin has feet’ (or simply ‘khf post’), which later escalated into a big discussion about the veracity of this statement. From this post, besides important stuff like fairy!dan, mermaid!kevin, mafia coffeeshop au with a bear noises and etc., we also got a onceler dan aka Rtcler (aka the rtcler ask blog). And that was a story how rtumblr revived onceler. And yes, it was just the beginning.

So later we also got a greedler kevin aka Kevler (aka greedler kev ask blog) which led to the greatest soap opera i ever seen between him, rtcler, slorax damn i miss slime , sg, lumpy and many other people. I’m gonna skip this soap opera because of two reason: 1. I don’t have all day to fully explain it to you, buddy. 2. Tbh I forgot most of it so i can’t tell much anyway lmao

Anywho, that’s how tradition of doing cursed ass shit everytime when RT goes on break was born

So skipping to summer 2021, RT takes another break somewhere in August and, according to tradition, rtumblr (actually that one in particular started on twitter i believe but oh well) doing cursed ass shit again, more precisely creating RTSans and many others so called rtsonas but spoiler not as much as they gonna create in future (if you’re actually interesting how many rtsonas we have, you might wanna check this list of all rts).

One more little skip to another RTBreak (TM) in October 2021 and in this one we’re sexyman’d Magical John. Yup.

And then in November 2021 the worst nightmare of any person here /j (/hj?) /lh happened - RT visit rtumblr. And damn anon we panicked, we panicked so hard cause all this stuff above was in the main tag and it’s probably the tag he checked and only god knows how many of that he saw. And this led to a little paranoia about ‘What if RT has a blog now’ or how i like to called it ‘What if Rumble Tumble has Tumblr’. And because we’re all clowns (affectionate), it didn’t took very long before RTblogs (TM) started to appear and claim (well.””””claim”””” y’know) that they’re a real RT.

And one day, more exactly on November 14th, one of the clowns with a really.. floofy name looked at that burning mess(affectionate), took a sip of their conspiracy tea and said ‘Yeah, i can make it make sense’. And that’s how the first version of The Board (The full name is ‘The Board of rtcu and cmkcu’ or ‘Wtf is going on here’ board. Pick your favorite.) was created. But then some things happened and some info on it was incorrect /wasn’t full so they updated it. Then it happened again so they updated it again. And again. And again. Again. Again. Again again again. Ag- i think you get it. Feck i think i need to update it again actually- (Link on it in the short answer. You can also find it in ‘rt has blog’ tag. Well, if you can’t for some reasons, don’t worry. It will find you. You can’t escape it. No one can. And yes, the name of the tag is a reference.)

Then i accidentally started my villain arc aka the lore aka ‘do you love the color of rtumblr roleplay?’. Basically, everything with a tag ‘do you love the color of rtumblr roleplay?’ is the lore/something related to this lore and piece of it are scattered throughout entire rtumblr but here’s three main posts in order - 1, 2, 3 (They also have some branches but if you curious you can find it in their notes. And yes, the name of the tag is a reference.).

Ok, what we have next let’s see.. Oh. Oh fuck. Shit. I need to tell about this too, aren’t i. Ugh, fine.

And now it’s time for a final part when i just dump information on you without any explanation cause i am not sure how to explain it myself and also cause this post is already really long:

I’m rtcler’ child. ‘Like adopted?’ HA. Mpreg is canon here. ‘Who’s the second parent then?’ There’s five candidates on this role, so for now i just made a conclusion that it’s a polycule of six people (Rtcler, Sg, Rtsans, Kevler, Cupcler and God itself) + one stepparent (@/withspaces ).

So, answering your question: Nothing happening in the rtgame tag. As you can see, it’s just a normal state of being for us (/lh /aff).

Ooh the little mermaid vibes of this chapter were off the charts and I love it. Ayesha I get being protective but let your daughter explore just a little bit 😭 (but also this chapter shows she's a little more naive than canon Lia so...). I'm just wondering and maybe I missed it being brought up at some point but is Etherial Lia actually Jim's daughter, or is he more like her stepdad and "creation" is the closest word for his relationship to her?

I'm also wondering if Lia will see Mal's treatment of Ben as similar to Ayesha's protectiveness over her - she says Ayesha treats her like a "coveted prize" and in your stories you bring up how Mal treats Ben like a piece of her dragon's hoard. Not saying that Ayesha is at all like Mal or that protectiveness over her daughter is the same as Mal being possessive of Ben, but I'm curious if this au Lia will see it that way or see similarities since she's been kept sheltered by Etherial Ayesha instead of being allowed to explore like canon Lia and she seems to resents it.

Next chapter's gonna be so exciting I love it 🌌

Yay! I'm glad you loved it! Yes, this Lia and Ayesha have a somewhat different relationship than canon Lia and Ayesha.

It has not been brought up, no - but Lia is Jim's daughter, not a step-daughter or anything. Etherials don't really use gendered parent terms or even the terms of parents, so it's "creator" (parent) and "creation" (child). Jim has introduced the terms of "father" and "daughter" to Lia, but she doesn't particularly like him at this point in the story so she doesn't use it much unless it's important.

And I'm glad you've picked out a slight comparison between Mal and Ayesha! As you may have picked up on, this Mal differs significantly from the Mal of RtS and NE, more in the vein of True Defender Mal. Now that you mention it, Lia could see those similarities.

There's also another little foreshadowing line in this chapter for Mal and Ayesha, but I'll leave that as a hint for now instead of pointing at it and yelling "HEY LOOK AT THIS!"
