How I think each of the Roleslaying with Roman characters came out/would come out (pt 1 cuz I’m not doing all of them in one post, we’d be here all day)

Roman: put it off for weeks due to nerves but eventually sat Ryker and Aunt Patty down to tell them. 100% cried. Ryker and Patty were obviously supportive (and decided not to mention that they’d already known for years now)

Ryker: same as Roman, was ridiculously nervous while simultaneously trying to act calm and nonchalant. First person he told was Aunt Patty who just smiled at him and said she’s proud of him, which made Ryker smile too and well up a bit

Aunt Patty: never officially came out but is open about it and always gonna be the best advocate for the queer kids she raises

Youngblood: identity is very much on a need to know basis. Noise was the only person he ever “came out” to. That “coming out” in question being those 2 sharing their first kiss with each other.

Burgundy Red: just brings it up casually and if people have a problem with it, she very much has a “that sounds like a you problem” attitude. She’s too busy running a bakery to care about other peoples opinions of her and her identity and that’s pretty dope of her honestly

Dorian: it’s my personal theory/headcanon that Dorian was a pirate and historically speaking, pirates were pretty gay😂 so Dorian kinda just grew up not really knowing anything different so coming out wasn’t ever necessary

Ten Penny Samuel: is the token straight of the town

Fast Timmy: “this is who I am and I don’t care what you think about it!” He yelled despite very much caring what they think, being seconds away from a panic attack and also being surrounded by people who love them unconditionally and will tell him that as soon as he stops yelling/monolouging😂

Melle Vinne: tries to act tough so people don’t notice how nervous she is. Fails miserably at this but the attempt was there😅

Henderson: didn’t know how to tell people so he went to Burgundy Red who made him a coming out cake

God I wish we got to see more of Dorian, I hope we see him again because his character design and the little bits of backstory we got are so cool!! There are stars!!! In his eyes!!!!! Literally!!!!!!! And he sailed in the astral sea he's an astro-naut lmao

Some Roleslaying with Roman stuff I’ve been working on.

Loving the series so far, can’t wait for more. Everyone’s hard work can be shown with just how good it is.

Wait wait wait wait. Roleslaying With Roman theory time.

Blue color meanings: trust, loyalty, calmness.

What color are most of the characters in RWR wear as ribbons or other clothes?

Blue.

Who are the only characters from Reston who don’t wear blue?

Roman, Ryker, and Burgundy.

Even AJ and Lyra wear blue.

My theory? Because we don’t know what their pasts are. We need to learn that.

We don’t need the pasts of the others. Aunt Patty is very straight forward with her adventuring. The kids are literally just kids. Dorian already talked about some of his past. The goat is a goat. Samuel is clearly just a guy who likes being vague and is bad at hiding it. AJ and Lyra are the DMs. We have no idea what happened in Ryker’s past even though Aunt Patty talks about hers. Burgundy hasn’t told us about herself either. All we know about them is she runs the bakery. With Roman, it could just mean that he doesn’t know Ryker’s past or doesn’t remember his own childhood. Maybe it’s less of a trust thing and more of what Roman knows about everyone?

Also, with the skeletons? Maybe one of them is that blond in the hallucination. This is honestly just speculation, but what if Ryker and Aunt Patty traveled with two other people? And when that blond tried to go back for their friend, they got killed (or the blond stayed in the cave and killed the other one). Criss did say “friends” after all. Just some thoughts I had about the new episode.

Summary: Roman is an overly-confident, clumsy dumbass and Youngblood is his (un)fortunate companion who got stuck with this himbo. Together they run into various obstacles (literally).

“Roman, what the fuck do you think you’re about to do?” The elf lectured his… friend? Companion? Who knows, but Roman sure was a special kind of stupid.

“I am going to hug the bear,” Roman opened his arms, “and pray that it works.”

“You’re going to die.”

“You said he looks scared, so I’m gonna let the kid know he’s safe!” Roman yelled back striding towards the were-bear with confidence. Why, out of everyone, did Youngblood have to get stuck with him?

Moments later, Roman was launched through the wall of the barn, landing right on his rear with a painfully loud thud. Youngblood couldn’t help but burst into laughter before drawing his grappling hook sword.

“You alright down there? Never mind, I know the answer,” he paused to sling the weapon toward his partner and instruct him to grab it as he pulled him back into the barn.

“So, what’s the game plan, genius?” Roman asked while brushing himself off.

“First of all, duck.”

“Where?”

“No, idiot,” Youngblood shot back, shoving him to the ground before barely managing to dodge Henderson’s attack, “I meant duck as in ‘that kid is going to pounce you and tear you to shreds.’”

Roman looked at him with those stupidly cute starry eyes once again, “thanks for saving me, again. You’re really strong!”

The elf couldn’t help but flush and stammer; that’s the first compliment he’s heard in a very, very long time.

Finally, it was over. Unfortunately, they didn’t find Roman’s family sword, but they did manage to get a temporary one from Dorian in return for the magic nail. It was a blessing, Roman insisted, that they made it out of that barn somewhat unscathed.

“By the way, youngins, there’s buckets o’ water in the back,” Dorian gestured, “you two look like you could use em.”

“Roman’s the one that dragged us into this mess anyways,” Youngblood grumbled just loud enough to be heard, earning a gasp from Roman.

“Ah, kids,” Dorian chuckled as the pair headed out of sight, “never stop fightin’, do they?”

“Damn it, Roman, stand still!” Youngblood yelled, splashing said man with a pail of water and almost missing, then scooping another bucketful, preparing to chase him once again.

They were right behind Dorian’s, in a small shed with a big tub of water and various metal tools and trinkets on low-hanging shelves and a few scattered about the trampled-down, wheat-covered floor; a perfect recipe for pain. Yet, Roman decided to mess with his elven companion and run around like a little kid.

It didn’t take long for Roman to run into a shelf, then proceed to trip on a hammer. Instinctively, Youngblood dropped the pail of water and ran to catch him just seconds before a possible concussion.

“See, you should’ve listened,” Youngblood sighed, but couldn’t help the smile that crept onto his face seeing Roman look up at him like a mischievous puppy.

“Thanks, again.”

“I’ll drop you.”

The sun was setting along the horizon, tinting the wheat field a light shade of blue. The duo was exhausted, but especially Youngblood.

“We should rest,” Roman suggested, “I’ve got a temporary sword, so I’m satisfied for now.”

“Yeah,” the elf agreed, rubbing his neck and sighing, “you should head home. It’s getting dark.”

“What about you?” the ward questioned, “I can’t just leave you out here, it’s cold at night!”

Youngblood shuffled in the grass, “I’ll be fine, besides, it’s not like I can’t sleep on a rock or something.”

There was a moment of silence, before Youngblood felt himself be lifted off the ground and carried by none other than his himbo companion himself.

“Roman, what are you doing?!” the elf yelped in surprise.

“I’m not letting you sleep out here, you’ll sleep on a bed tonight,” Roman beamed, before tossing propping his shorter companion onto his shoulders.

“A piggyback ride? Seriously?” Youngblood shouted, but Roman didn’t let his bitterness offend him, and kept walking.

“Yup! It’s how my father told me to carry heavy things!” the man grinned, “hey, how about making that noise you made before to kill some time?”

“I’m still baffled that you don’t know what singing is…”

“Singing! Yes, that! Can you do that again? I like it!”

Youngblood allowed a grin to slip by, resting his head on Roman’s and humming. Maybe meeting this guy wasn’t too bad if it meant he could finally rest peacefully.

someone’s probably commented on this already, but I’ve finally had time to catch up on the q&a video thomas made with brei and alex about rswr and omg!!!! like thomas was saying, all of aunt patty’s “adoptive kids” wear some variation of the lil blue bow that patty wears in her hair (even goat, tenpenny, and dorian)!!! it reminds me a lot of the fairy godmother in cinderella, who also notably wears a bow, although it’s a different color. I wonder if it has any deeper significance, or whether it’s just because she’s like a “fairy godmother” to them :’) either way, it’s so precious and I’m absolutely losing my mind over this series and it’s characters lol

Current theories for roleslaying with Roman and I’m doing this in one post because I don’t have enough info to fully support most of them just yet but yeah:

- Cris and Cross were revived (kinda) by Goat, possibly with the assistance of Burgundy Red somehow. This theory mainly comes from Cross telling Roman and Youngblood that when he was revived he heard the sound of hooves and a belle but wasn’t able to say if it was a horse or not meaning it could have been any animal quit hooves. They also said they smelled bread at the time. The description of hooves, the belle and the smell of bread describes Goat perfectly

- Dorian was once a pirate who sailed on the astral sea or at least some type of sailor. I’m not sure what caused him to leave that life behind but he will sometimes miss it which is why that painting and nail are so important to him

Theories for the bias against Bards and a lot of these also include theories on what happened to Romans mum

- There was a war between the Bards and the people of Reston before Roman was born. Possibly even before Ryker as born but I doubt it because from what I can tell, that person Roman saw calling him Ryker is more than likely a bard considering their singing and instrument. It’s possible that Ryker was even involved in this war but I’m not sure. My main evidence for this being that it was mentioned in the rswr livestream that a “rest” in music terms refers to a time when the music is not playing. So if Reston was named after this then it’s literally a town without music which would explain why Roman has never even heard of singing. It’s possible that after this war Reston was formed as a place not welcoming of Bards due to this. It’s also possible that Roman’s mum died in this war.

- My second theory is that the Bard collage is extremely corrupt and Reston was formed by those who escaped, similar to how Youngblood seems to be running away from it. This, again, explains why Ryker has a bias against Bards despite once clearly being friends with one. Maybe he saw this corruption first hand.

- Speaking of which my next theory is that that Bard was someone who betrayed Ryker and Aunt Patty. Maybe they were working for the corrupt Brards, maybe it has something to do with Romans mum, I’m not sure. But something likely happened there that fuelled Rykers bias against Bards and the Bard collage.

Like why is the painting so important to him? A memento from his life as a sailor? Why is it so important that it's brought to life by the nail? If he was sailing the astral sea, potentially in another plane, how did he end up in Reston? Why did he stop sailing??
