Secret Santa 2024!

Wonderful, warm winter greetings to  @chipedteacupchat, who was my giftee this year and provided me with a prompt that I simply had an amazing time working with. It was a pleasure to talk with you through the weeks and build your answers into the prompt you had given me. I don't often get to make a heroBelle and having her do her own thing to save Rumple had me writing in structures I'd never attempted before. Thank you for encouraging me to stretch my wings. (totally didn't mean the pun.)

It's your secret santa! Can you believe we've already been through a week of December? Time is flying! On the flip side, I'm having a lot of fun writing your fic :)

What is your favorite thing about Christmas? Do you have any traditions you headcanon Rumbelle doing?

I like the lights. I like listening to the music. I personally don't celebrate Christmas myself, but I love celebrating winter. I love the cold and snow. We decorate everything in my home blue and white and snowy for the holiday season and just keep it up all winter long.

For Rumbelle, I don't know... Because of Rumple's history with the darkest night of the year, I guess I've always thought it was a family time with lights and cozy togetherness rather than a celebration. I know that isn't helpful and maybe it comes from my own knowing that I'm only alive because a man died, but that's sort of how I've felt they would handle yule-time stuff.

Did you have a good Thanksgiving? Are you excited it's the Christmas season now?

Between Rumple and Belle, whose pov do you tend to prefer, if you have a preference at all?

Had a very busy Thanksgiving. This is a big time of year for folks who house and pet sit. That on top of school (we had teacher work days until Thursday) have me exhausted right now. Today is my last day until Thursday night. I plan on a night or two of uninterrupted sleep! Driving around at night and seeing the lights though... I'm happy for that. Every day another house lights up. It is just so beautiful.

I don't know that I have a preference between them. Most of my focs jump back and forth depending on the scene and which perspective I think fits better.

Can't wait to read your gift.

As for Rumbelle, do you have a preference for a season or setting in which they're set? For example, do you like dark castle rumbelle, pre or post marriage rumbelle, post canon rumbelle, etc...

The week was fine. This is the time of year when my business hits full tilt, so things are about to get more hectic than they have been. Thanksgiving will be work, filled with periods of writing and a couple hours of family time. But at least after the parade I'll be free to turn on the holiday tunes, one of my favorite things about the holiday season even though I don't celebrate Christmas as a christian.

I have no preferences for Rumbelle setting. I'm happy for you to write things anywhere and anywhen you'd like. I do like when we can fill in gaps of canon that were just left hanging, but that doesn't mean you have to.

Happy Holidays, I'm your secret santa! I have two questions for you, one fic related and one not.

What are you favorite holiday traditions?

What are your favorite fic tropes?

Hm.. Holiday traditions.. I love the lights. I work a LOT of nights this time of year and I spend a LOT of hours driving past all the decorated trees and houses. There is something very magical about the different colors filling the night, especially on the farms where it is just black everywhere except for the tiny dots of light in the distance.

As far as fic tropes go... I'm not going to be very helpful there. I don't know that I really have a trope I'm fond of. I mean Rumbelle itself is the trope, isn't it? Someone falls for someone else that everyone thinks is a monster just because they're different?

I'm also realizing that apparently if a man has to be kissed on screen it must be done by the woman on our right. Hm.

Okay, we didn't get a kiss from these two. Heck, we can't even get them properly in the same damned gif! But the idea still stands.

I'm a sucker for love. Love between two people whose relationship isn't understood, love between a father and his children... I love that Rumple is so tender with his family but would do anything to protect them.
